This senate campaign really seems to have got going. I genuinely think he'd be a good president.

*unless Elizabeth Dole runs for office then, in which case I'm going with Ms. Dole*

Innocent Dreamer (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 12 July 2003 01:51 (twenty-two years ago)

what if Jesus returned then and then ran then?

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 12 July 2003 01:59 (twenty-two years ago)

hes too depressing we need pizazz

chaki (chaki), Saturday, 12 July 2003 02:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Jesus would never be a politician. He'd be too busy being a missionary living a simple life to do that. Besides, he'd probably tell the truth too much for most people. He'd make a lousy politician.

Innocent Dreamer (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 12 July 2003 02:17 (twenty-two years ago)

JC: "Consider the lilies --"
Papers: JESUS GOES ECO
JC: "Blessed are the meek --"
Papers: JESUS GOES PINKO
JC: "The United States is like a mustard seed --"
Papers: JESUS GOES WACKO

(and then Disney hops on board with JESUS GOES BANANAS and JESUS SCARED STUPID and THAT DARN JESUS! which actually does have an exclamation point in its title.)

N., he's got an uphill battle to win the Senate seat -- the state Democratic Party is organizationally/fiscally a mess and Voinovich, being from Cleveland, is reasonably popular in the NE corner of the state, which is generally the only Democratic-voting area.

Springer knows his only chance is to pull large numbers of people
who usually don't vote or have otherwise gotten fed up with the political process and opted out.

I'd rate the potential entertainment value of Springer-Voinovich (or Springer-anyone, really) as pretty high, so I'm sort of hoping he makes the run. I can't remember the last close Senate race we had here.

Jeff Wright, Saturday, 12 July 2003 02:23 (twenty-two years ago)

you would think after reagan and jesse ventura and now arnold schwarzenneger, that i would have gotten used to the idea of tv/film stars getting involved in american politics. but i seriously had to ask black plastic if this was for real. and it is. YIKES.

di smith (lucylurex), Saturday, 12 July 2003 02:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Jesus would get labelled a terrorist-symp pinko homo in the US. He'd be unelectable.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Saturday, 12 July 2003 03:06 (twenty-two years ago)

he'd just get blamed for taking votes away from the democratic ticket. I wonder what party Jesus would lead?

django (django), Saturday, 12 July 2003 04:25 (twenty-two years ago)

duh, the Republicans

James Blount (James Blount), Saturday, 12 July 2003 04:57 (twenty-two years ago)

A pedant writes: Springer can't become US president in the forseeable future, sadly, as he's an immigrant.

caitlin (caitlin), Saturday, 12 July 2003 08:45 (twenty-two years ago)

He was Mayor of Cincinatti, so he's got political experience, but I don't know whether he was a *good* mayor.

Where's Springer from then? Surely even if he was an immigrant, he must have US citizenship, so shurely that's enough?

MarkH (MarkH), Saturday, 12 July 2003 09:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Didn't he have to stand down as Mayor of Cincinatti for getting caught paying a prostitute with a cheque?

WeeklyWeekly, Saturday, 12 July 2003 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)

You have to be BORN in th' USA to be pres; Springer was born in England but moved here when he was five.

i read the title as Jerry the Nipper for president...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Saturday, 12 July 2003 12:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Damn, I had heard that thing about his being precluded by his birthplace before but had forgotten.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 12 July 2003 12:27 (twenty-two years ago)

6th amendment now (or whatever number you're up to)

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 12 July 2003 12:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Springer was born in England but moved here when he was five.

Springer must be president, a chance to reclaim the colonies. You can keep the other 37 states.

dude, tell me he's French. or at least Canadian.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Saturday, 12 July 2003 14:41 (twenty-two years ago)

oh please! as if barefoot, tree loving Jesus would be a repulican...they'd think he's a communist, or at least queer.

django (django), Saturday, 12 July 2003 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Jesus withered a tree to make a point. I'm not sure he's particularly tree-loving :)

Tep (ktepi), Saturday, 12 July 2003 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

that's true..he also sent a herd of pigs over a cliff...he's kinda mean. well he won't be getting my vote...unless he leagalizes marijuana.

django (django), Saturday, 12 July 2003 21:32 (twenty-two years ago)

but about Jerry, maybe his policy should be to have Sharon and Arafat on a show, they could duke it out with folding chairs. Big black ladies could tell them they don't respect themselves. And maybe then they get a make over.

django (django), Saturday, 12 July 2003 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

OMG how much do those guys NEED to exfoliate??!?

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 12 July 2003 23:44 (twenty-two years ago)

They should dress sexy. Maybe a little titanium oxide on the eyes.

django (django), Sunday, 13 July 2003 05:20 (twenty-two years ago)

four years pass...

http://www.thislife.org/Radio_Episode.aspx?episode=258

He was apparently not only mayor of Cincinatti, but the city's most popular mayor ever. And after hearing this show, I'm convinced the Democratic party needs Jerry Springer.

BTW to correct above post, he actually became mayor AFTER leaving his city council seat due to the prostitution scandal.

nine months pass...

i watched jerry in a jiffy lube today
he seems like a broken man, directionless

ambassador of france (jergins), Tuesday, 27 January 2009 23:23 (seventeen years ago)

Has anyone seen the Steve Wilkos show? I think this clown used to be Jerry's bodyguard or something. He has his own show now where he basically just screams in people's faces and throws shit.

Also the guests are priceless. Today's guest was trying to tell him that his daughter had louse which were according to said guest "way worse" than lice. "Louse are just like lice Steve but much bigger". LOL.
