You need to get someone to check your registry for suspect registry keys, I believe. (or buy a mac, or run linux)

i have checked registry keys, ad aware does that.
and i do need a mac.

have a look round the excellent VMyths. YOu might find more info there. To date I have not heard of spyware for the mac. I sure it can be done but there are less macs so spyware is less productive and its harder to find machines to infect.

This: http://security.kolla.de/ catches lots of stuff that adaware misses.

Clearly you're waking up in the middle of the night to seek out and bookmark porn in your sleep, the way some people sleepwalk.

I will second Dan's suggestion, I use it on my PC and it's great. Simple download, it finds problems, tells you about them, and then will fix with your okay.

I had something hijacking my IE search function for ages, and AdAware and Spybot couldn't find it. Finally someone pointed me to Hijack This which found it right away. A lot of the stuff it comes up with isn't bad -- the key is to scan through the list and delete all the stuff with porno or otherwise suspect URLs.

Also it brightens your teeth, prevents prostate cancer etc.

ten months pass...
I have just run Hijack this and Spybot in order to get rid of whatever it is that is infecting my IE homepage setting and launching anti spyware pop-ups when I start IE. They have not worked. They both found a whole load of stuff and I deleted the bits that looked dodgy but to no avail. Can anyone help?

I can't but I do have exactly the same problem so I'm bumping this up the new answers page in the hope someone can.

Go post your Hijack This log at http://www.cexx.org and they'll help you out.

Ok, will do. Thanks.

there is also a free check done by 'noadware' but you have to register and pay to have it removed once located. However, I found the nasties by using their scan, and then went into the registry, deleted their stuff. It worked.
