I am.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 17 July 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you want to be? Everything is subjective.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 17 July 2003 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

It is? Even on ILX?

Give us some context: do you prefer camembert or brie? lickable or sticky stamps? porcelain or plastic?

amateurist (amateurist), Thursday, 17 July 2003 20:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I have lived in denial too long. I had convinced myself I didn't like the Beatles beause my sister loves them and if I did too it would make me as mentalist as she is. But about a week or two ago I finally had to admit to myself that I do kind of like them. And Springsteen isn't all bad (!). So I guess I am a rockist of sorts. But I will still insist on listening to Monica or the new Justin Timberlake ("Love Don't Love Me" -- on the Bad Boys II soundtrack!).

Am I "rockist"?

Are we not men?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, is Springsteen rockist? Cos he kinda makes me feel a bit ill, I've tried to listen to him a million times and STILL THE SICKNESS so maybe I'm popist!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know, maybe people who like Springsteen should just be called mentalists. I won't really start worrying though unless I start thinking Phil Collins isn't all bad.

Larcole (Nicole), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:03 (twenty-two years ago)

He did do "In the Air Tonight", I like that one

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:05 (twenty-two years ago)

"I want you to rockist with I" David Lindley

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 18 July 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

You are more of a rockist if you pretend not to like the Beatles or Springsteen - you are just rockist about pop.

If that makes any sense.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 18 July 2003 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

hi adam

Is caring about albums more than singles rockist regardless of the band(s) in question? I have a well-developed list of favorite albums but an amorphous blob of favorite songs, so I figured that made me somewhat rockist, but then Crudders says I can't be a rockist since my favorite album is They Might Be Giants' Lincoln.

If it matters, I do like the Beatles.

martin m. (mushrush), Friday, 18 July 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Is somebody going to get off their butt and do a definitive ILX Glossary?

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 18 July 2003 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

And Springsteen isn't all bad (!).

Okay, NOW I'm disturbed. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 18 July 2003 15:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay, NOW I'm disturbed

Okay, NOW you're inadvertantly giving me ammunition. ;-)

martin m. (mushrush), Friday, 18 July 2003 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

*dribbles, starts talking about St. Peter*

Wacky! (Ned), Friday, 18 July 2003 15:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Just because you like The Beatles and Bruce Springsteen doesnt make you a rockist, does it?

Michael B, Friday, 18 July 2003 15:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, probably not. The problem is I have this image in my mind of rockists as the sort of chuckleheads who think the Beatles and Springsteen as the be-all-end-all of popular music.
I know it is irrational.

Larcole (Nicole), Friday, 18 July 2003 15:34 (twenty-two years ago)

larcole is rockist abt chuckleheads
