That's fucking stupid. They're not done growing yet! These tattoos are going to be misshapen, faded, and awful-looking by the time they're 12. Not to mention that kids that age don't choose to be tattooed, and the parents are probably a little sadistic. Ew ew ew.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Friday, 18 July 2003 03:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Yet another hoax.

Layna Andersen (Layna Andersen), Friday, 18 July 2003 04:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Hasta be.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Friday, 18 July 2003 04:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I dunno.. I looked all over the site for any disclaimers and couldnt see one... and they provided addresses and phone numbers.. and pics of kiddies (in pain the poor buggers) being inked! Plus the faq says something about a less deep inking and special ink... but still...

I think it's cruel.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 18 July 2003 04:17 (twenty-two years ago)

The street adresses are real, and mail to their contact address does not bounce. I HOPE it's a hoax.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Friday, 18 July 2003 04:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Although we are the ORIGINAL body art chain to cater to toddlers and children

Is there more than one? Oh, I may as well just die and get off the planet.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Friday, 18 July 2003 04:25 (twenty-two years ago)

When I was out shopping last weekend, I walked past one of those teenage cheap-jewellery/trendy-hair-accessory high street shops and through the window I saw a woman getting her baby daughter's ears pierced. The poor little girl - probably no more than about 6 months old - was being forcibly held still by her mother and two shop assistants, and screaming blue murder while a third shop assistant did the piercing with a staple-gun thing. It really upset me to witness this. Some parents should be slapped.

C J (C J), Friday, 18 July 2003 04:27 (twenty-two years ago)

There oughta be a test, and licenses issued.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Friday, 18 July 2003 04:28 (twenty-two years ago)

"Question #6 - It's ok to give a three month old child a bottle of beer to put it to sleep. True or false?"

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Friday, 18 July 2003 04:29 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.channel933.com/playhousepics.html -- about halfway down, they mention it was an April Fool's Day hoax

http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/hoaxes/babyink.asp -- found out the "locations" were actually WalMart

Layna Andersen (Layna Andersen), Friday, 18 July 2003 05:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Um, I got my ears pierced when I was a baby.

Although I got them pierced at a doctor's office, not at some little teenybopper jewelry boutique in the mall. Still, pain is pain.

I don't remember the incident, though. Hmmm.

But baby tattoos? Dude, that's a harsh idea. Even as a hoax.

Just Deanna (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 18 July 2003 05:43 (twenty-two years ago)

next they'll be giving boob jobs to tots "tits for tots"

Mike Hanle y (mike), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:27 (twenty-two years ago)

When I was 3 months old my mom had my ears pierced! In retribution, I'm going to ink her grandchildren. FUCK YOU MOM!

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Ear piercing doesn't hurt! Babies scream and cry all the time for a million reasons, I don't think it's cruel to have babies' ears pierced. It's a bit of an odd thing to do but not cruel (no offence to Ally and Dee's mums)

Emma, Friday, 18 July 2003 12:38 (twenty-two years ago)

i had skin lopped off my penis when i was a child, ear piercing does not hurt.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

It does hurt. Probably less than a vaccination, but HELLO? Making HOLES in your child without (obv) their consent? Icky.

Archel (Archel), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

It's not a matter of it hurting, Emma. It's a matter of the fact that it wasn't a chosen endeavour and was forced. Tattoos don't hurt either! In all honesty when I did my belly button and my tongue it hurt more than any of my tattoos.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I just think there's something kind of icky about insisting that an infant be so girly-girl and feminine by forcing them to get their ears pierced. Those lacy little rosette headbands that parents put on little girls annoy me for the same reason though.

Larcole (Nicole), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe I have a very high pain threshold but it didn't hurt me at all. And everything you do to a baby is without its consent. If the kid grows up and hates it they can let the holes close up. I have some baby pics of me in really awful outfits which my mum put me in without my consent but I have forgiven her.

Tattooing is another kettle of fish.

Emma, Friday, 18 July 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Children should run free and naked! (Not near me though please.)

Archel (Archel), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:43 (twenty-two years ago)

The tattoo i have on my back was quite possibly the worst pain i ever felt in my life. Right on the spine. women have higher pain thresholds then men.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:43 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, then circumcision! Can't grow that back, eh.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah well I don't agree with circumcising children unless there are medical reasons. What about piercing children's penises though?

Emma, Friday, 18 July 2003 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I think pierced ears on babies looks really horrible. I mean, I've seen people put big old studs on them and I imagine three months down the line the earlobes drooping from the weight. Plus - the possibility of infections, snagging on blankets - yikes!

marianna, Friday, 18 July 2003 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

"Give him an MMR jab, yeah...oh and throw in a Prince Albert"

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:47 (twenty-two years ago)

And I'd like to see a baby throw a rattle out of his cot when it's chained to his nipple ring!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah Marianna but that's an aesthetic reason not to do it, not a cruelty reason, and like I said, little babies are at the mercy of their parents' (usually mothers') style decisions until they can yell NO GET IT OFF ME. And if you are careful about putting solutions on the baby's ears they shouldn't get infected.

Emma, Friday, 18 July 2003 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

How about a pierced tongue? It's hard to wail when the tongue is weighted down by a big mettle stud!

Larcole (Nicole), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Mettle? I meant metal of course.

Larcole (Nicole), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think adults should pierce their penises either, that shit is nasty! WTF?

If I gave my baby a tattoo, it'd be of She-Ra!

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

im glad im trimmed up, there is no way in hell i want my penis looking like its wearing a turtleneck.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Ear piercing doesn't hurt!

I beg to differ! Mine really hurt when i got it done.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 18 July 2003 12:57 (twenty-two years ago)

It hurts for a second, kind of like getting a shot.

Larcole (Nicole), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I am clearly the ILE hard woman and will find childbirth a doddle. phew. Did you all really think it hurt? It felt like I was being pinched lightly. Out of ear, nose and belly button only belly button hurt at all and that was a tiny bit and over in seconds.

Emma, Friday, 18 July 2003 13:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Different people are sensitive to different things--not one person is going to have the exact same experience. I don't remember my ears hurting but I was 3mos old. My tattoos didn't hurt a slight bit but Chris says his are excruciating.

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

But what do you do when your helmet gets cold, Chris?

The United Kingdom - proud home of un-mutilated babies.

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:03 (twenty-two years ago)

It's just the anticipation of the piercing that's kind of bad. I agree it doesn't hurt.

And I've known parents to get a baby's ears pierced to tell it apart from its twin. I don't see any big problem with it. They can always grow back in.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I've never heard keeping warm being advanced as an argument against circumcision before!

Archel (Archel), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:09 (twenty-two years ago)

when the helmet gets cold my wife warms it up.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:11 (twenty-two years ago)

and on tattoo pain the ones on my arms didn't hurt a bit, except for the band. once it got to the underside of my arm i almost died. pinch yourself there. it hurts. but the back one, forget it. i almost lost it.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:12 (twenty-two years ago)

*winces*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I nearly fainted when I had my ear pierced, but my tattoo was fine. I have a psychological aversion to things being punctured right the way through, I think.

Archel (Archel), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I have three on my back, that was fine...

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

im telling you girls have a much higher pain threshold. At the studio when I was getting my back done, there was a young gent getting one on his back, he slumped off of the chair and passed out. I was close. But the girl getting hers done was chatting it up like no tomorrow.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Piercings Ally? ha ha. I can see it now - three huge rings down the back!

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I've seen stranger piercings than that actually! That might be cool, like a tricerotops! They had ridge backs, right?

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 18 July 2003 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Stegosaurus, Ally

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 18 July 2003 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

= new adverb of the day - "Dude, I got my back pierced stegosaurusally!"

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 18 July 2003 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, then circumcision! Can't grow that back, eh.

Apparently you almost can. Something about hanging wieghts off the end to the skin streches and goes for the turtleneck effect.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 18 July 2003 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Something about hanging wieghts off the end

DEAR GOD NO

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 18 July 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 18 July 2003 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

You people, I swear. I think one day I will finally get around to getting my ear repierced, actually...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 18 July 2003 15:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I wonder if you can surgically attach your foreskin to your earlobe

Mike Hanle y (mike), Friday, 18 July 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

But why do you wonder that?

Ally (mlescaut), Friday, 18 July 2003 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)
