mark rules!

but if I had to have another name I'd wish to be called doc

s1utsky (slutsky), Saturday, 19 July 2003 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

There are people who call me Doc! I'll let you borrow it, S1utsky.

I changed my name from William to Bill cause no one's ever called me William, and the Bill I was named for was a Willis. So I'm all set now.

(Tep's fine, too.)

Tep (ktepi), Saturday, 19 July 2003 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Her Majesty.

That Girl (thatgirl), Saturday, 19 July 2003 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

thanks tep!

ol' doc s1utsky (slutsky), Saturday, 19 July 2003 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I have too many names already! Jim, Jel, Jamie, Bee...actually hardly anyone calls me James.

But, I wouldn't being called Positron.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 19 July 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

elisha sessions.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 19 July 2003 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't have a middle name so when I was young I used to make them up for myself. The only one I remember was Sharon, which I don't like at all now. So it's all just as well. I really like my given name.

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 19 July 2003 19:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Supreme Lord of the Universe

oops (Oops), Saturday, 19 July 2003 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

That's MY name, motherfucker.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 19 July 2003 19:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Merlin is a cool name.I never met anyone who's real name was Merlin.

Eugene Speed (Eugene Speed), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

mark's like the cool gospel

James Blount (James Blount), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

when I thought my little sister might be my little brother instead I lobbied for "alexander"

James Blount (James Blount), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Ikemotubbe

really fancied that one once,
was twenty or twenty-one at the time

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark's the boring rockist gospel. Wasn't he a lawyer?

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought he was the fighter!

James Blount (James Blount), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Well anyway, he was Roman. Luke's the lover.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Peter's secretary; Matthew was the tax collector, John the fisherman, Luke the physician.

Tep (ktepi), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:29 (twenty-two years ago)

No one really knows who John was but I think fisherman is unlikely.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, in Catholic tradition, I mean. The real guys were probably different guys altogether.

Tep (ktepi), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:36 (twenty-two years ago)

"We don't pay you to write gospels on company time, young man. Oh my, that's a fetching blouse you've got on today."

(Peter to Mark, Apocrypha 3:11)

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Having researched the matter, I think I may have made up the Roman thing.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 July 2003 20:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I have met a Merlin. He was a bit of a git, if I remember right.

I used to think I'd like a different surname so people'd stop asking where mine comes from and I'd stop having to tell them I don't know... but now I'm pretty cool with it.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 19 July 2003 21:00 (twenty-two years ago)

was he wearing a wizard's hat?

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Saturday, 19 July 2003 21:01 (twenty-two years ago)

No. He was short, thin, blonde and looked very much like a future Conservative MP.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 19 July 2003 21:02 (twenty-two years ago)

William, was your grandfather called William Eugene Swygart?

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 July 2003 21:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I have no idea of the middle name, but he was a William, as was his father, and mine too.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Saturday, 19 July 2003 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I always wanted to be called Catherine.

Ally (mlescaut), Sunday, 20 July 2003 03:30 (twenty-two years ago)

i wish buick mackane was my real name.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 20 July 2003 03:34 (twenty-two years ago)

buick mackane is a right spiffy name if i do say so myself.

oops (Oops), Sunday, 20 July 2003 05:49 (twenty-two years ago)

My posh friend wanted to be called 'Mercedes'. Then I saw this John Cleese movie with a 'Portia' in it but I thought it was 'Porsche'. I was like, I don't get it, these people are all posh but they call their kids such gauche names, yet they ARE posher than me, so obviously there is something going on I really really don't understand.

m.s (m .s), Sunday, 20 July 2003 06:40 (twenty-two years ago)

xerxes

Tad (llamasfur), Sunday, 20 July 2003 06:47 (twenty-two years ago)

When I was six, I wanted to be called Chloe after our neighbour's cat.

C J (C J), Sunday, 20 July 2003 06:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Merlin is a cool name.I never met anyone who's real name was Merlin.

My mate J and his brothers know/knew someone in Leeds who was called Merlin. Everyone thought it was a nickname but he apparently showed some people his birth certificate one day.

I always wanted to be called James when I was younger (like 10) but I'm kind of comfortable wit Nick now.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Sunday, 20 July 2003 07:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I hereby wish to be called CASANOVA MASERATI.

(If the blink tag were still in usage, I would add that.)

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Sunday, 20 July 2003 18:45 (twenty-two years ago)

yo

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 20 July 2003 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Sunday, 20 July 2003 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

My posh friend wanted to be called 'Mercedes'.

was that after the girl in the "license to drive" movie?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 20 July 2003 20:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I want to be either "Boots" or "Bootsie".

Mandee, Sunday, 20 July 2003 20:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I like the name Nicole, but I am a little tired of it because it is so common. I really can't think of a proper replacement name though.

Larcole (Nicole), Sunday, 20 July 2003 20:43 (twenty-two years ago)

So it seems.

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 20 July 2003 22:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I am kind of happy with Nellie cause it's sort of english and stuff, but I wish that the rapper Nelly would go away because I really don't have a smart comeback too 'why aren't you wearing a bandaid on your face?'
I was almost called Josephine and I like that too.

Nellie (nellskies), Monday, 21 July 2003 00:30 (twenty-two years ago)

BTW Oberon was king of the fairies, so is that what you really want?

Nellie (nellskies), Monday, 21 July 2003 00:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Porfiry Petrovich.

Lord Byron Lived Here, Monday, 21 July 2003 09:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I hated the name Sarah when i was younger as there were loads of other girls with the same name. I am cool with it now, i think!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 21 July 2003 09:49 (twenty-two years ago)

i like my name but i wish i had a TOPGUN monicor

I would be code name THIEF (i thought that whilst brushing my teeth this morning - my wing man would be Joker and we would fly to the sounds of jimi hendrix and "all along the watch tower"

YEAH GET SOME..........10/4 thief.....Igot ya back joker.....whoa that was toooo close....ahem

james (james), Monday, 21 July 2003 09:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I have met a Merlin and he was pretty much an asshat, as far as I could tell. Very disappointing.

I like my name although when I first found out it meant 'sheep' I decided to be Ebony instead. I also used to pretend my middle name was Hermione, and this was waaayyy before Harry Potter.

If I were a boy I'd like to be called Rahul like a friend of mine.

Archel (Archel), Monday, 21 July 2003 09:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I get called Missy sometimes (as does every girl I suspect), which I always thought was a pretty cool name.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 21 July 2003 09:57 (twenty-two years ago)

One of my friends that I was staying with in NYC is a Merlin, and lovely with it. He doesn't really act up to it any more that the standard black-clad metal/geek. Though there was that copy of Arthur with Alan Moore on the front lying around...

I'm shocked no-one wants to be called Max Power.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 21 July 2003 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

When I was younger, I used to wish that I had a more dramatic or glamourous name, though I can't remember any of them. (Charlotte, I think may have been one of them, because I was so impressed with a girl named Charlotte who lived in a proper Gypsy caravan.) But Kate suits me so well, I can't imagine being called anything else.

kate (kate), Monday, 21 July 2003 12:06 (twenty-two years ago)

oberon was king of faërie, which is totally difft obv

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 21 July 2003 12:14 (twenty-two years ago)

(Bearing in mind that all this is rather moot, as my name has already been summarily changed to "Property Of Joe Banks".)

kate (kate), Monday, 21 July 2003 12:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I changed my middle names once cos I couldn't deal with being taunted for it. Odd really, cos now I think Dario is a fairly cool name. I'm not telling you the other one.

Mark C (Mark C), Monday, 21 July 2003 13:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Argento?

kate (kate), Monday, 21 July 2003 13:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Archel (Archel), Monday, 21 July 2003 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Dr. Funkenstein

Bruce Urquhart (Bruce Urquhart), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I always wanted some kind of interesting name...I was always jealous of my friends Woganee, Tamini, and Kianda in high school. In the classes I teach there are always a large number of great names. My favourites from the last quarter: Arghavan, Zuoya, Marie-Pierette, Yujie, Cassand, Sunaina, Jeya, Deorani, Zhida, and Indu. Personally, I don't want a new name, but I just wish mine wasn't so damned Scottish-like. The Highlander jokes get tired.

cybele (cybele), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I tried out lots of different names because of the Too Many Sarahs problem. Plus, I was tired of being referred to as "Little Sarah" (there was an older Sarah on my street). The longest-lasting name was Angie. Blech!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 22 July 2003 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Julio that's nice! But goodness—"Julio DeSouza"!! Count your blessings!

Tessa. I'll probably call my kid this if I have one, a girl, but maybe I'll use the name Edith first. I like Eli for my boy name, it's close to my real name.

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 02:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, I think I lied a little in my first post on this thread. I tend to use my middle name for things I know will result in junk, because then the mail comes and a) I know it's junk and b) I can go "well, that's a very nice name, I wonder who that is? Why, IT'S ME!"

Tep (ktepi), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 02:07 (twenty-two years ago)
