The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 01:12 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought you said repeatedly you didn't want to be with anyone

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 01:15 (twenty-two years ago)

XPOST

this is a dumb thread, i don't have time for booty. but indulge me anyway!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 01:16 (twenty-two years ago)

you're not even a real lesbian are you?

duane, Wednesday, 23 July 2003 01:22 (twenty-two years ago)

i just came here to mock you

duane, Wednesday, 23 July 2003 01:23 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm mock-creaming my knickers as we speak.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 01:26 (twenty-two years ago)

while listening to the mockers.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 01:28 (twenty-two years ago)

with those skintight pink pants, you can't get some muff-munching action?

Tad (llamasfur), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 01:32 (twenty-two years ago)

i think i might want one too but there are issues

ron (ron), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 01:40 (twenty-two years ago)

(to tad)
no. its criminal. i'm surrounded by cute smart girls and its driving me nutz. and i'm fearful of rejection so i never put the moves on.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 01:42 (twenty-two years ago)

only one who doens't make me see crap films, make me pay $30, and i don't even get to cop a feel

Tad (llamasfur), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 01:42 (twenty-two years ago)

haha me too ron, my issues are that no-one can meet my ridiculously high standards.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 01:43 (twenty-two years ago)

maybe you just need to show some more camel-toe and you'll be beating off the dykes with a stick!

Tad (llamasfur), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 01:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Carefully phrased, that.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 01:52 (twenty-two years ago)

splinters!!

ron (ron), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 01:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not a girl, I'm not sure what aid I can provide in this crisis

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 02:33 (twenty-two years ago)

---have i missed the boat??

There's a lesbian boat?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 02:35 (twenty-two years ago)

the HMS Hairpie

Tad (llamasfur), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 02:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Ahh Di, if we were closer. . .

(btw i think i've decided I don't want a committed relationship right now but could use a few casual ones.)

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 02:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I want lots of money. Other guys have money, it's so unfair! Then I could say I was rich and hang out w/rich people.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 02:47 (twenty-two years ago)

i am going to write a song called "girls don't like girls, girls like cars and money".

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 02:54 (twenty-two years ago)

"girls like making their lives difficult"

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 02:54 (twenty-two years ago)

to ride ride ride. i need a girl by my side.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 03:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd go out with you Di! But I live in the wrong country so that dashes that idea :-/

*watches Jim have a conniptive fit*

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 03:16 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll be in NZ before you trayce!!! she's mine all mine err what was i saying?

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 03:25 (twenty-two years ago)

hmm something tells me i've missed a crucial point here

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 03:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Why not some wacky scenario where Di goes out with Andrew in a vicious ploy to get all the cute smart girls jealous?

Mandee, Wednesday, 23 July 2003 03:32 (twenty-two years ago)

di you say yr "surrounded by cute smart girls", really, where are you

duane, Wednesday, 23 July 2003 03:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Here Jim let me help you with that "crucial point" ;)

(just kidding)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 03:37 (twenty-two years ago)

di has lotsa ILXor love ... but all that love is continents away!

Tad (llamasfur), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 03:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh Di (Ms. Lurex if you're nasty!)...if you weren't on the other side of the world...

j.lu (j.lu), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 04:03 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't have time for booty.

There's your problem. Getting laid/getting girlfriends isn't a skill, it's a value.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 04:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Like being a good speller.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 04:07 (twenty-two years ago)

duane i am at university, duh!

mandee, i like the wacky scenario where i kidnap all the ilx ladies and make them my concubines better.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 04:18 (twenty-two years ago)

how do you find out if girls you like are queer? like say you meet someone in your feminist art history class who you think is smart and cute (purely hypothetical hahahaha), without outright asking her, how do you know!! cos you know it'd suck to put the moves on some girl and then find out shes STRAIGHT and then she goes all awkward around you... this has happened to me before :-(

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 04:31 (twenty-two years ago)

i obviously never learned the lesbian handshake. :-(

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 04:32 (twenty-two years ago)

aim lower

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 04:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Do lesbians not have gaydar? This is news.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 04:34 (twenty-two years ago)

my gaydar only works for fags. :-( oops, no.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 04:35 (twenty-two years ago)

lift your blouse and flash 'em some beaver ... that usually works!

Tad (llamasfur), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 04:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I dunno if a girl flashed me her chest and there was beaver under there I dont think it would work on me :-/

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 04:38 (twenty-two years ago)

What about women's intuition?! Cultural stereotypes have led me to believe that lesbians have a gaydar so finely tuned they can smell each other across continents.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 04:38 (twenty-two years ago)

And I'm with Di - my female gaydar is useless. Gay/bi grrls are very often a lot more subtle about it too. Well in my experience, I dont wanna start any flame wars about this sorry *mumble, bow, scrape*

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 04:39 (twenty-two years ago)

don't they have gay bars in or around dunedin?

Tad (llamasfur), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 04:41 (twenty-two years ago)

i wanna spend all your money.. at the dunedin gay bar

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 04:43 (twenty-two years ago)

stop listening to all that sleater-kinney ... that's what's scaring away all the hot kiwi lesbos, i betcha!

at the university, really, i coulda swore you said "cute SMART girls"

duane, Wednesday, 23 July 2003 07:21 (twenty-two years ago)

gaydar is made-up ppl, i saw a TV prog that proved it

it wz "(i really hope x 1000000000) + (only lesbians like cats/wear jeans)"

[imagine equiv lameness for gay guys in second bracket]

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 07:25 (twenty-two years ago)

All I want is pussy. Don't even want to fuck it especially, would just be nice to know it was there.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 11:11 (twenty-two years ago)

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 11:18 (twenty-two years ago)

"I don't have time for booty" = fucked up priorities, Di!

There are an awful lot of people on ILE who play for both sides. Why is that?

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 11:18 (twenty-two years ago)

esoj- I kiss you! then i'd kill you.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 11:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Cos it's still sort of cool, Mark, that's my excuse anyway

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Di-----"how do you find out if girls you like are queer? like say you meet someone in your feminist art history class who you think is smart and cute (purely hypothetical hahahaha), without outright asking her, how do you know!!"

Asking her outright seems like the best way to broach the subject, easily! I mean it's not like she'll be embarrassed, really, it's not that big a deal, and you get to hint at interest by doing so and so forth. So there you go, I think.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 12:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Make a badge that says: "I'm Gay. Do you want to find out if you are?"

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:19 (twenty-two years ago)

how do you find out if girls you like are queer?

andrew, how do you find out if girls you like are straight?

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

She wrote that bit

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Being straight doesn't really count as a shared niche interest thing you can spark up a frienship on, does it?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

The topic of queerness I have found tends to come up (hur hur) more quickly when drunk. (Or at the v least in a social environment when you're already chatting not just HEY HEY come back are you a big homo oh dear that didn't really work er... *slap in face* etc) May I suggest a quick GIN and a reference to you liking cute GURLS in conversation with chixx0r? Generalisation: I am sure a feminist art history student would not have any problem with yr sexuality even if she was not a GAY or a part-timer.

Also you are k-pretty! I am sure there are many GURLS who fancy you but are just shy! Do you want to join my sewing circle? There will be GURLS in it!

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Ed is that how you got your girlfriend?

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

oops, sorry andrew, that'll teach me to read properly!

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:41 (twenty-two years ago)

My formatting was CRAP, though.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

i would never be so forward

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarah's stuff is good! Also the environment can lead to things - like if you can dance with someone you can make all sorts of advances without offending. And it's true that arty students are unlikely to have problems with it, whatever their tastes.

Is there a high proportion of bi people here? I think it's that bi people are often not open about it, and perhaps are more open or more vocal here. I've moved in circles at times where it seemed that 80% of the women were bi, and I've had sex with quite a few men who were publicly straight! I seem to remember a survey years back that suggested that 43% of middle-aged men had had sex with another man at some point! That suggests that maybe a third of the population might be bi.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

haha remember my worry thread about being single.

well yeah I was wrong. I am happy being single, I only like the trying not to be part, the success I can do without. yeah I really have to be more careful what I wish for.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

i once asked a girl out who ended up being straight. i felt silly, but it wasn't the end of the world! i was glad i got it over w/ and asked instead of wondering.

anyway you can be my internet girlfriend?

black plastic (black plastic), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 19:17 (twenty-two years ago)

look i'll send you flowers etc

black plastic (black plastic), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

scared now

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 19:20 (twenty-two years ago)

you should be, the roses might eat you

black plastic (black plastic), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 19:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooh, one other thought, Di: a woman I was briefly involved with was bi, and she told me that she used to 'confide' in anyone she was interested in, especially in her teenage days, when she was alone and private with them. She would 'pour her heart out' about being attracted to women, and act a bit troubled. She said about 50% of the girls so addressed immediately made passes at her!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 20:04 (twenty-two years ago)

PREDATOR: "oh it's difficult with gurls isn't it angst angst"
VICTIM: thinks "oh poor gurl I like her"
PREDATOR: thinks "another one bites the dust"

God humangs are rub innit? Haha, rubbin' it do you see?

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 20:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Judging from the title: I thought I started this thread.

Leee (Leee), Wednesday, 23 July 2003 20:53 (twenty-two years ago)

roses, for me? aww rebekah, you so won me over. *blows kiss*.

i like starry's advice but sadly i do not drink. i've got this smotth idea to ask this girl to see a movie with me, seeing as its film festival season. can i just mention that she looks like corin *swoon*.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 24 July 2003 07:42 (twenty-two years ago)

well i'll ask her if i don't go into can't-talk-now-blushing mode

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 24 July 2003 07:52 (twenty-two years ago)

i hope that's actually an excerpt from predator 3

Chip Morningstar (bob), Thursday, 24 July 2003 09:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I admit the thought of attempting to pull w/o booze is PETRIFYING. Di you are obviously the bravest person in the world.

*shivers*

Fingers xed & so on.

Nobody ever asks me out :(

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 24 July 2003 19:33 (twenty-two years ago)

But at least I have DRINK! Yay!

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 24 July 2003 19:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I want thee girlfriend.

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 24 July 2003 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Holly Golightly?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 24 July 2003 19:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I went to a show tonight and flirted with this sweet skinny soft butch girl all night. It was really nice. I later found out she was already spoken for. Not that I would have done anything anyway, I think. Also the person I found that out from was a guy that I thought was a really butch girl and who also turned out to be a business associate that I'd only spoken to on the phone before so man oh man I'm glad I didn't flirt with him, because I almost did.

Anyway. I really suck at being a lesbian.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 25 July 2003 01:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 28 July 2003 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

i love hair.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 28 July 2003 22:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I suppose you could have mine?

(CD arrived today, Lady Di, and it plays just fine! I hear it now! It is rock! :-))

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 28 July 2003 22:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Di how's this going?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 12:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Andrew is hoping for pictures.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

as far as i can see, di hasn't been posting for the last few days.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey hey hey!! Me, too!! I'd just like a frickin' DATE with a cute, smart girl, goddamnit. I myself am a cute, smart girl and I'm in the city of dykes but they all seem to know each other. It's like some cult and JD Samson is their golden calf. I have no gaydar, either. Fucking hell.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

jeanne and teeny, dunedin needs you. ned, :-). andrew, not much is happening, she sat next to me in class yesterday and i said hello and then got really shy.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 20:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Jeanne and Teeny and Di in Dunedin! It's a vision. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 20:06 (twenty-two years ago)

oh my.

The last time I tried to pick up a girl, I left my Al Green records at her place and she MAILED them back to me. :((((((

teeny (teeny), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 20:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I have 0% gaydar for chiX0rs and 99% gaydar for guys. At least it means I know which guys I can 99% trust.

toraneko (toraneko), Thursday, 31 July 2003 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

cos you know it'd suck to put the moves on some girl and then find out shes STRAIGHT and then she goes all awkward around you... this has happened to me before :-(
-- The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylure...), July 23rd, 2003.

This isn't particularly a lesbain problem is it?

Replace 'STRAIGHT' with 'NOT INTERESTED' and it's pretty universal.

mei (mei), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:06 (twenty-two years ago)

it's a whole new level of awkward I think. But then I'm not a boy.

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:10 (twenty-two years ago)

jesus, i read this thread not checking the date the original "question" was posted and spent large amounts of time pondering the aphrodesiac qualities of mushrooms.
