I'm thinking of coming over to NYC for Halloween weekend. Which is the best airline for a deal here? I think it will be a Thurs. to Monday thing for me, but not sure yet.

(i have zero experience in east-west flights.. i've mainly just done Pacific flights, up and down via Alaska airlines)

JetBlue, I'm guessing, so go hence.

I'm afraid I'm a little too good at PST->EST flights- someday my job will be on the coast as the rest of my life. :-(

1) check jetblue

2) go to orbitz.com and do the "flexible days" search (also there you can search on all the new york city airports at once- just type New York City into the "destination" box & chose "all new york city airports" on the next page)

3) sign up for the expedia.com "flight alert" mails--> they send you a weekly mail with the lowest fares between two cities

I always fly into Newark on Continental, then when I'm going to NYC, grab the airtrain-- which is actually quite fast & picks up right at the terminal, but that's because all my frequent flier miles are on Continental. They're not always the cheapest.

Use Hotwire, you may end up flying at very strange times of the day but there is absolutely nothing cheaper. I'd guess you could get a round trip for about $250.

I found a round trip (leaves Thurs night, comes back Monday) for under $140..!!! via Jetblue

'snack' vs. 'smack'

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 04:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Excellent. I can finally wear my Tomb Raider costume from last year!

Brian, are you sure that's not $140 each way? JetBlue gives you separate fares for each direction, even if you click "round-trip". If you really found a round-trip that cheap, congratulations! I flew round trip to NY in October 2001 for $120.
