I was sitting in a taxi on my way home, and the radio is playing Lite FM, and an ad came on which said "Less of this (over Sean Paul's Get Busy) and more of this" and launched into Secret Garden's You Raise Me Up.

So what advertisments have you been exposed to that clearly an efficiently identify that they're not talking to you?

Every woman ever who's looked at a computer game magazine to thread.

Also the bit I quoted must've been a generic thing to be played before stuff, because it did go on to play the whole song. And the song after was Ebony and Ivory, so it's not like it's KKK FM.

"No rap" was a popular slogan for soft rock stations in the Los Angeles area around a decade ago.

Don't they still use that?

There was a TV ad not so long ago. "What would you have if you took a radio station..." (image of guy opening the top of a boombox) "and took out all the talk" (he pulls out a set of chattering teeth) "and rap" (he pulls out a set of thick Mr. T chains)...

The Coors Light "Twins" advertisement that runs during football game broadcasts particularly excludes women to a mindblowing extent.

Since I watch football every Sunday during the season with several women, we have a channel-changing rule as soon as it comes on.

Hmm, women hate twins, who knew?

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 28 July 2003 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't mind it really. I like me a good set o' twins just as much as the next guy. . .heh.

Those 18-30 holiday ads, made me hate the world. I think they were in some music magazines.

My sisters, who are twins, got a particular annoyance out of that beer ad.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 28 July 2003 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Being a fella, I'm only insulted by it -- but I think the ladies I watch sports with (not all of whom are straight, if that matters), get really incensed. But as I think about it, it's actually the fucking SONG that takes it to the level of annoyance rather than ignorable clutter.

Hurlothrumbo (hurlothrumbo), Monday, 28 July 2003 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait a minute are we talking about twin people or you know, breasts?

Besides, beer commercials with chicks in bikinis do not bother me. Life's too short to get uptight about commercials.

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Monday, 28 July 2003 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Right, that's why we change the channel, we don't picket the brewery.

And see, the ad is so clever that it implies breasts while explicitly showing twin siblings, har har.
