Water tastes different in different parts of the country - it can have a mild chalky taste, or even a metallic one.

We once had a burst water main which meant we were without water for two days. When it has been repaired, I turned on the kitchen tap and all sorts of muck came out with the water, including little tiny things which looked suspiciously like prawns. It made me feel sick.

I bottled some suburban tapwater once. Once it'd sat around a while, I investigated and found a bunch of SPIDERS and crap in it! Country (rain)water is lovely.
