Topics and Bounties. Mmmmm.

C J (C J), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Almond Joy muthafuckas.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:06 (twenty-two years ago)

The moist chewiness of Almond Joy. Mmmm......

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:06 (twenty-two years ago)

thats pretty much death for me. almond allergies.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:07 (twenty-two years ago)

are reese's peanut butter cups considered a candybar? if so, thats my fav.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I regarded coconut as evil once, and foreswore it for the likes of Whatchamacallit and Marathon. However, the king of candy bars remains a Charleston Chew, but only when it has been frozen. Close runner up is anything made by the Cadbury factory in Dunedin.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

a frozen charleston chew will rip your teeth out.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

My favorite is probably the Godiva milk chocolate with almonds, but they are really overpriced and make me sound like an elitist yuppie bastard to boot. So I will go with Reeses.

Larcole (Nicole), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Dolfin dark chocolate with cinnamon, but I haven't found them here, so Violet Crumble and Heath bars. Oh, and those small dark chocolate bars with the cocoa nibs in them, which I'd remember the name of on another day.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Almond allergies avoided by eating a Mounds bar, the second best invention known to man.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

a frozen charleston chew will rip your teeth out.

Wimp.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

However, the king of candy bars remains a Charleston Chew

WOOOORRRDDD.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Wimp.

Smart. Plus the cash saved on doc's bills can go on Chris' next odyssey.

Chaleston Chew is only good til you have to floss.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

im already missing four teeth from hockey accidents, i don't need to lose more.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

snickers reigns supreme
charleston chew is #2
and heath bar to show

Haikunym, Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

im already missing four teeth from hockey accidents, i don't need to lose more.

But I hear the gap-toothed look is so in, this season!

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Am I the only person who finds Charleston Chew just filthy disgusting?

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes you are. I condemn you to a live of Almond Joys with tofu substituted for the coconut and almond.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooh why don't you smack me with the flouncy bat next, big boy.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I third Reeses, and would like to add Peanut Butter Twix to the candy canon. WAY better than the original Twix (I'm not big on Caramel).

Charles McCain (Charles McCain), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude, caramel is like god's gift to everyone ever, I would pour it all over myself and wear it if it wasn't so likely to pick up cat hair.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

how come Americans say Candy Bars, but Canadians say Chocolate Bars?

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Cos we're better than you.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

aah, but i have nice shiny fake teeth in the front. the ones on the side are barely noticable.

Chunkys - blech.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

they used to sell wonka bars here, which were good. i never got a golden ticket though. that wonka is full of shit man.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Chunkys were always the suck.

Ooh why don't you smack me with the flouncy bat next, big boy.

Grr, grr!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Down tiger.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

was anyone else that fat kid who rummaged through everyones halloween bags stealing all the reeses. and leaving all the rotten malted milk balls and dots.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

my gf brought me a suitcase of candy/chocolate from london. mang- US candybars dont even compete

kephm, Tuesday, 29 July 2003 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

how come Americans say Candy Bars, but Canadians say Chocolate Bars?

Because most U.S. chocolate isn't really worthy of the name.

A store in DC stocks Duncan's milk chocolate with hazelnuts -- yum! (And if they are the U.K. equivalent of Hershey's, please don't tell me.)

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 17:08 (twenty-two years ago)

BABY...RUTH? RUTH? BABY...RUTH?

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

US candybars dont even compete

Damn true. Even the UK version of Cadbury's tastes better (more luscious/decadent)....could have been my joy in simply being there.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 17:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Nick, I put it to you.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

wHAT?

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Fry's Turkish Delight. I tried buying some in Istanbul, which is in Turkey, but there they had taken the chocolate off! How dumb is that!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Nick, it's kind of like male's in the workplace, ok? Just trust me.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 17:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Fry's Turkish Delight. I tried buying some in Istanbul, which is in Turkey, but there they had taken the chocolate off! How dumb is that!

It would sound even more lame to call it "Fry's Filling".

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 17:59 (twenty-two years ago)

NO TALKIN BAD BOUT CHUNKY OK

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 18:01 (twenty-two years ago)

hell yeah!
i am going to marry her now.

kephm, Tuesday, 29 July 2003 18:01 (twenty-two years ago)

i am going to marry her now.

I'm flattered;>

Only possible if you bring a good-sized ring and the ability to buy a few hundred cases.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I am in love with kit kats. (And not just cuz kats sounds like cats!)

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 18:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Hee hee, slang my friends used in college makes Sarah's post ridiculously lewd.

a frozen charleston chew will rip your teeth out.

THIS IS WHY THEY ARE GREAT YOU FULE. A candy bar ain't shit unless it hurts.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 18:14 (twenty-two years ago)

++I'm flattered;>

i am going to marry my gf! the suitcase of candy!! but then again, you ae a brit, so maybe you are the better source.

kephm, Tuesday, 29 July 2003 18:17 (twenty-two years ago)

There was a time when Snickers were just pretty good, on par with some of the other major chocobar competitors, but once someone enacted the brilliant revolutionary idea to BATTER and DEEP FRY it, they leaped out into a place no other candy bar has ever dared gone before, and for that IT WINS.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Dan, if I really wanted to avoid all the sex slang you and your friends had, I wouldn't be able to post anything at all.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

they leaped out into a place no other candy bar has ever dared gone before

You've never been to Scotland. Trust me.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

as a kid i would try & put as many mini-pnbtr cups, m n ms, bttfingers & skittles into my mouth all at once for maximum goodness.

kephm, Tuesday, 29 July 2003 18:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Candy bars are best with a little bit o' salty contrast. I love the popcorn/ chocolate combo!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 18:45 (twenty-two years ago)

As I never wanted to clog my arteries, I'll give the deep fried bar a miss.

Still, can't beat Cracker Jack for the sweet/salt contrast (even if that's not a candy bar)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

All sugary substances are great. In fact, I would eat plain brown sugar if I had to. That ended with a preposition.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 00:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I've eaten plain brown sugar. And also white sugar and confectioner's sugar.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 00:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Sugar. mmm....

Maple candies are basically pure sugar and I just had some earlier. Nick's mom got us some from Vermont so it's the REAL DEAL.

Sarah MCLUsky (coco), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 00:34 (twenty-two years ago)

sarah you are OTM. when i'm in need of a sugar fix i eat brown sugar. yum!

Chris Radford (Chris Radford), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 00:34 (twenty-two years ago)

No, Chris Radford. YOU Are OTM!

EVeryone come to my thread! It's a big party. Current topics include Hawaiin shirts and time zones. Ok, so it's not that great. But at least no one can sit down in a circle on a thread.

Sarah MCLUsky (coco), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 00:35 (twenty-two years ago)

any chocolate and hut combination is good.

Chris Radford (Chris Radford), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 00:41 (twenty-two years ago)

This thread is making my teeth hurt.

are reese's peanut butter cups considered a candybar? if so, thats my fav.

mmmmm. I love that wonderful chewy outer choclate rim.

Christine 'Green Leafy Dragon' Indigo (cindigo), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 00:45 (twenty-two years ago)

hut - h + n = nut!

Chris Radford (Chris Radford), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 00:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I've eaten cooking chocolate. When I was small. But all the time then. Mum used to have to buy it the same day she was baking or else hide it well.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 08:30 (twenty-two years ago)

mmm, right:

Cherry Ripes from Australia
I *really* want to try a peanut butter twix
Aztec bars really were the bomb and I mourn them
Chunky kit kats? oh yes
Peanut butter cups - for American chocolate, they're really good
Me and V got som great chocolate from France last mnonth that had chilli, pecan bits and vanilla in - fantastic.
The chilli chocolate that Tobay had at a FAP a while ago was amazing.
Fuse bars - just for the tasty mush they make.
Sometimes you just can't beat a Mars bar.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 08:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Erm,
twix
bounty
chunky kit kat
dime bars

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 09:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I am a junk food junkie. I love chocolate. I couldn't possibly pick just one favorite, so here are my favorite candy things. Not all of them are actually bars, so apologies to the purists.

Hershey's with Almonds,Cadbury Mini Eggs, Peanut M&Ms,M&Ms with Almonds, Cadbury Eggs, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups ,Mars Bar,Snickers,Cadbury's Flake,Butterfinger,Charleston Chew,Rolo

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 09:58 (twenty-two years ago)

OOH i forgot mini eggs too! arrrghhhh!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

holy shit, I went to the store here at work and they have "BIG CUPS" a giant size peanut butter cup. I came in my pants.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I've had one of those. V. tasty.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 16:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Why on earth would anyone like that fruity "licorice" nonsense when real licorice is so good?

D'ya mean the plain dark licorice? No thanks. The cherry ones I got hooked on when I was 5 (or so): it ties in with childhood feel-good memories.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

three months pass...
My favorite candy bar would have to be reese's fast break. Other favorites include: milky way, carleston chew, bitohoney bars, snickers, nutrageous, peanut butter twix, and cookie and cream bars.

Allison Jenkins, Saturday, 8 November 2003 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Bounty
Glosette Peanuts (the sugar around the peanut before the chocolate is what makes them good)
Junior Mints
Icy Squares
Turtles

I hate the tone of these articles. How many people fought and died so we could read about this?

admrl, Thursday, 12 July 2007 18:14 (eighteen years ago)

I am afraid to read whatever that article is.

My current favorite: Harry and David dark chocolate Moose Munch bars. I had half of one after lunch today. SO YUMMY.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 12 July 2007 18:15 (eighteen years ago)

Also Rittersport dark chocolate with maripan in them.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 12 July 2007 18:16 (eighteen years ago)

Fuck yes English candy bars. Every Xmas my grandmother sends us all candy bars from the UK. Unfortunately the normal pack she gets us no longer includes my favourite-- "Footie" Raisin & Biscuit bars. I think they were just Yorkie bars with bits of cookie and raisin in them, but they were UNSTOPPABLE TO MY MOUTH.

Will M., Thursday, 12 July 2007 18:18 (eighteen years ago)

Oh and they used to have Charleston Chews in the little town I lived in near Lake Huron but I haven't seen them since. We used to buy the white ones, stick em in the microwave for 5 seconds, and eat them ever-so-slightly melted. it was brilliant.

Will M., Thursday, 12 July 2007 18:20 (eighteen years ago)

Best name for a candy bar, USA division: Zagnut.

Best name for a candy bar, British Commonwealth division: Violet Crumble.
