I have one in my fridge right now. I could put five more if I wanted to. THANK YOU people who are paid to sit around all day and think of this stuff.

The question is: How long until they start selling beer in these things? Specifically PBR?

Millar (Millar), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 23:05 (twenty-two years ago)

They don't already?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 23:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Not where I live, god dammit

Millar (Millar), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 23:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I have not seen the DP fridgepacks. These are U&K for me as I drink a million Diet DPs a day. Wherefore art thou?

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 23:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I found mine at the local Target. They have them everywhere down south, it seems to have taken the Maryland bottlers a bit longer to GWP.

Millar (Millar), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 23:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been through scores of Coke fridepacks. I would bestow upon it a prestigious award, if I had one.

Aaron A., Wednesday, 30 July 2003 23:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I've only seen them for Coca-Cola prodcuts thus far. :(

I'm sure they'll win some sort of packaging innovation award.

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Wednesday, 30 July 2003 23:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got three Coke ones in my fridge right now. Yeah, that should last me until tomorrow night, barely.

Dan I., Thursday, 31 July 2003 00:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't get what's going on. Are these just boxes full of cans?

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Thursday, 31 July 2003 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe Coke has proprietary rights over the packaging?

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 31 July 2003 00:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, Eyeball Kicks, I pity you. Though once I was similarly blind. I saw these things advertised on TV and said WTF? Why the big fuss? But then I bought me a fridge pack of Diet Coke, and suddenly the scales fell from my eyes, and I saw ... and I knew.

jewelly (jewelly), Thursday, 31 July 2003 00:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I swear I saw some DP ones, Sam... I'm going to the store tomorrow so I'll report. (I shop at a Tom Thumb.)

Aaron A., Thursday, 31 July 2003 00:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm a cheapskate, so I'd rather get two-litre bottles of Coke for £1.20 than buy six 330ml cans for 40p each. If these are just boxes of cans I'm not interested. What I would be interested in, though, is Coke-boxes done like those boxes of wine, with a tap and everything.

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Thursday, 31 July 2003 00:20 (twenty-two years ago)

You can buy the syrup that way, Eyeball Kicks. Then just get soda water and you're set.

But, as for me and my family, we shall follow the Fridge Pack.

jewelly (jewelly), Thursday, 31 July 2003 00:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Sometimes while opening the Fridge Pack
something goes awry, though;
and I just want to curse the Fridge Pack
and die.

Aaron A., Thursday, 31 July 2003 00:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't like soda out of liter bottles. It just never tastes right to me.

Currently I'm obssessed with Sweet Iced Tea from Sonic and Jones Soda.

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Thursday, 31 July 2003 00:41 (twenty-two years ago)

So if they are really just full of cans, you mean to tell me you haven't had these in the states before? We've had them in the UK as far back as I can remember (although we don't call them fridge packs, probably partly because harrdly anyone has a fridge big enoigh in the UK). AND every major beer is avilable like this.

This IS a wind up, right?

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Thursday, 31 July 2003 01:52 (twenty-two years ago)

This is new packaging to us. Old 12 pack cardboard containers didn't fit very well into the fridge (and still dispense the cans conveinently.)

Texas Sam (thatgirl), Thursday, 31 July 2003 01:55 (twenty-two years ago)

It's the box -- it's sized and shaped to fit in most standard-sized refrigerators to a) maximize use of space and b) act as a can-dispenser (you rip off the end, cans roll to the front).

("Most" cause my last fridge actually wouldn't hold one of these except on the tall middle shelf.)

xp Sam

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 31 July 2003 01:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Labbatt Blue sells those, 12 packs.
Though I like the Molson Canadian "ice packs" better, 28 beers or some oversized case like that where you just add ice right to the box.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 31 July 2003 02:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm a cheapskate, so I'd rather get two-litre bottles of Coke for £1.20 than buy six 330ml cans for 40p each.

The soda goes too flat before you can drink it all with the two-liter bottles, though.

Christine 'Green Leafy Dragon' Indigo (cindigo), Thursday, 31 July 2003 02:06 (twenty-two years ago)

The fridge in our apartment is so old that the fridgepack will not fit in it! I curse the fridgepack.

Larcole (Nicole), Thursday, 31 July 2003 02:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Labbatt Blue sells those, 12 packs.

muh muh muhhh!!! muh muh

Millar (Millar), Thursday, 31 July 2003 02:08 (twenty-two years ago)

You get Blue down there? Man even in Boston, Molson Canadian and Export were going all funky in their packaging, Im surprised.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 31 July 2003 02:20 (twenty-two years ago)

We get Labatt's Blue, but not in the fridge pack. Fucking A.

Millar (Millar), Thursday, 31 July 2003 02:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah, I see, its just a fannied-up standard cardboard pack for lazy people! I like the name for them in Australia where they are known as 'slabs'.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Thursday, 31 July 2003 02:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I keep thinking of Rollins singing this term.

Fridge...PACK!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 31 July 2003 02:41 (twenty-two years ago)

That would so kick the ass out of the commercials they are using now.

Thanks to Ned, I will now spend the rest of the morning imagining Hank screaming things like Ice...PACK, Cold..CRAP, Hackey...SACK!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 31 July 2003 12:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I am glad I have made your life immeasurably richer.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 31 July 2003 13:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I've already got a special can dispenser in my fridge (and a wine rack), though you do have to remember to keep it stocked up.
