Had a company party on friday night with a "French" theme(don't ask). Among the other accoutrements were two non-white-faced mimes. They would mock the drunken corporate partygoers, interact with each other, strike statue poses, etc. Since i get bored easily, I decided that these mimes should perform for me.
After pondering whether to have them to do various things("Dude, do a Crane Stance. Now, Tiger Stance. Now, Jackie Chan-drunken boxing!"), i just asked 'em, "Hey, do The Robot". I give them credit, they didn't break character or laugh, altho one of them was close, and they did it! The Freaks Come Out at Night, yo!
So, I put it to you, the ILX hivemindbootylicioiusfunkadelikkolective -- would mimes have been more tolerated in america, either in the early 80's when they died off or now, if they could break it like Turbo & Ozone?

For the break of your life! Push it to pop it!
Rock it to lock it! Break it to make it!

OK, aside from Lamar from Revenge Of The Nerds, I don't think breakdancers and mimes were ever
that far removed anyway, in the vocalizing-or-lack-thereof department......? Am i missing the point here?
