alcoholic nostalgia

Having just arrived at college and being surrounded by beer and vodka and, of course, drinking games, and having never been much of a party person at home, I'm giving into my curiosity bit by bit (i.e. attempting to not make an ass of myself or get in danger, but see what the alcohol fixation's about). This is not particulary entertaining to describe, due to the "not make an ass of myself" bit. However, I am surrounded by people who do that all the time. So do any of you have any entertaining first-time-drunkenness stories?

Maria (Maria), Monday, 15 September 2003 03:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Being surrounded by sloppy/embarassing/nasty drunks is a good way to keep yourself from drinking.

I don't even remember the first time I got drunk, sadly.

i do! it was very exciting at 1st, horrible not much later. in the morning i woke up with my 1st hangover & saw the devil incarnated as a goat staring at me over a fence, he had a string of yellowish jism hanging from his large erect penis which, between malevolent stare-out sessions, he kept licking. i was mesmerised! i kept drinking quite a lot altho i prefer the hard narcotics.

were you drinking absinthe?

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 15 September 2003 03:41 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, i have plenty of those stories, 1994-present.

"ten years of tears"

Anyone have aural hallucinations after drinking (while trying to go to sleep)? I've often wondered if that was normal, but it's not quite the thing you bring up in conversation - "oh, hey, the last time we got smashingly drunk, I heard stuff when I was laying down to sleep. You get that?"

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Monday, 15 September 2003 03:46 (twenty-two years ago)

i notice when i get drunk my hearing seems to get more trebly

Age 12, got incredibly plastered, told everybody filthy jokes in a loud voice, walked around with a toilet plunger on my face (I thought it was funny because I saw someone do it in a 'Popeye' comic) then vomited and passed out. Pretty ordinary really, except this was at a funeral.

my parents found a plastic bag of my spew hanging on a nearby deer fence the night after my dad's 50th birthday bash. don't ever buy your 17 year old daughter a bottle of vodka.

the good thing about getting blootered on red wine is being lucid enough to clean up your crimson vomit afterwards < /voice of experience>

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 15 September 2003 08:55 (twenty-two years ago)

My stories like this aren't so much humorously embarassing, as kind of wrong. They aren't funny cos most involve just horrible sickness not to mention one awful incident of being taken home by the police. That may still be the worst day of my life.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 15 September 2003 09:08 (twenty-two years ago)

it wasn't the first time i had gotten drunk for sure but um, one of the incidents first week of freshman year of college inspired me to change not only room/ates but also buildings, based on what i *heard* of having done, the morning after (i just had to take their word for it). waking up in your own vomit is always a bad sign, but i was still kinda surprised, and i think in general boozing can be a negative first impression to make. yeah i know i am just reiterating: haven't you heard? drinking is bad for you...um, this post wasn't that nostalgic

Vic (Vic), Monday, 15 September 2003 09:19 (twenty-two years ago)

So what DID you do Vic?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 15 September 2003 09:22 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah waking up in your own vomit does suck. especially when your vomit is BLACK and looks like oil.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 15 September 2003 09:23 (twenty-two years ago)

unfortunately, my thirsty reputation followed me to the new building, since my new neighbor went to the same high school as oneof my ex-roomates and she had heard of my drunken incident, so my move was of no avail...freshman year was kinda overshadowed by That Story

i don't think any of this will ever happen to Maria but i'm glad to recount it just in case, despite the vagueness

Vic (Vic), Monday, 15 September 2003 09:24 (twenty-two years ago)

oh i'd rather not say..i think u can use your imagination and come up with something not far from being OTM

Vic (Vic), Monday, 15 September 2003 09:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw the title of this thread and thought "yeah, I am nostalgic for when I was practically an alcoholic". Then I remembered the chest pains.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Monday, 15 September 2003 09:27 (twenty-two years ago)

glad to recount it as a warning, that is...

yeah i'd say that was in a twisted hidden-blessing sort of way, an ultimately beneficial experience to have at the beginning of college, since it taught me about limits and how drinking can = disgrace, and i've been pretty fine ever since (except for one or two things!)

Vic (Vic), Monday, 15 September 2003 09:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Lite beer vomit is the worst. It burns coming up.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Monday, 15 September 2003 12:53 (twenty-two years ago)

haha, the first time my lil' brother got drunk was on a visit to me in Austin. He was 14, I took him to a party and he got wasted on tequila and Jack. I just remember him being curled up in the fetal position and me kicking him and asking if he was in a gang.

The next morning I insisted we go to Barton Springs for a swim. I was well adapted to hangovers by then; he was experiencing a new brand of hell. Needless to say this weekend pretty much burnt him on drinking for years to come.

Texas, Biyatch! (thatgirl), Monday, 15 September 2003 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I've never adapted to hangovers. I'm not sure it's possible.

caitlin (caitlin), Monday, 15 September 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Just remember: At a certain point in your life and development, carefree binge drinking stops being cute. So does talking about it.

Lee G (Lee G), Monday, 15 September 2003 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not really fond of the sport of drinking recently.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 15 September 2003 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

when i was a junior, we got majorly pissed after the michigan/michigan state football game in november, 1996. after various beers, mixed drinks, and a pint of rum, i got sick about 3am

now, i lived all a hall of mainly freshman. they heard me, then went to borrow the digital camera from my neighbor. they then followed me into the bathroom, took pictures of me out of it in a stall, then posted the pics online.

i still have them. wanna see?

Kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 15 September 2003 16:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha ha the first time I was ever drunk I yelled out of a car window at everyone all the way home!!! Of course this was in Lexington KY on a night when UK had won a major basketball game, circumstances under which yelling out of car windows is par for the course.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 15 September 2003 16:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Good lord, it really is getting close to 25 years since I last got drunk. I must do it again soon - I might like it now, but the main reason is that it I don't want to have to say that I haven't got drunk in 25 years, as it sounds like a boast, and it isn't. I stopped drinking a lot because I didn't like it, so it's no achievement at all.
