My boss was, he says, offered £1,000,000 for a domain name he owns, in the last days of the dotcom boom. The people trying to buy it lost their funding just before going through with the deal.

In 1998, the company I was working for, named after the small town of Baltimore in County Cork, Ireland, ended up buying out the homepage of the city of Baltimore Maryland.
