I love a-line skirts. I have a few & they're great!

what's an A-line skirt look like?

Kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 22 September 2003 13:52 (twenty-two years ago)

In the shape of an A. Hence the name.

Nicolars (Nicole), Monday, 22 September 2003 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Kingfish: slightly flared (think of the shape of the letter A), usually knee length.

A-line skirts RoXoR, but I only own one. However, I used to make them in sewing class in school, and could probably still run one up on my ma's sewing machine if I could be arsed. They bestow instant indie-chick cool on the wearer (if said wearer is female, obv).

neat!

black vintage a-line cocktail dresses = neater!

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 22 September 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I had an A-line school skirt that was a bit like that picture that teeny just posted, but it was horrid grey school-skirt material and had to be well below the knee and therefore had no degree of coolness whatsoever. Hence A-line skirts now make me shudder - I have never tried one on since I left school due to psychological scarring of compulsorily wearing the most horrid one in existence (OK, several of the most horrid ones) for seven years.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 22 September 2003 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Classic!

luna (luna.c), Monday, 22 September 2003 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Classic and very flattering to most body types. I can't quite picture it over pants though. I think you would have to have a very particular body type to pull that off.

Mary (Mary), Monday, 22 September 2003 17:59 (twenty-two years ago)

they look so much better than straight skirts on me. I love them.

Maria (Maria), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 01:50 (twenty-two years ago)

classic. I have 3 black ones and one grey one. I don't know if pleated skirts can be A line?

isadora (isadora), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 02:34 (twenty-two years ago)

HOT.

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 04:42 (twenty-two years ago)

classic and all the more classic for being uniformie+indie and totally functional

ducklingmonster, Tuesday, 23 September 2003 06:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Tres classic. Superclassic.

Pleated A line skirts DO exist and I want one real bad.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 18:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah. In that case I have a brown one as well, and all my skirts but 2 are A line

isadora (isadora), Tuesday, 23 September 2003 20:28 (twenty-two years ago)

well i'm not gonna say dud but it's getting a lot boring!
to answer the question about aline skirts over pants... that is most definitely a dud - the line is all wrong.
