seriously, what accounts for the differences between the countries? How much of it is legitimately real sexual behavior (affected by societal norms/pressures) and how much is people lying on surveys (also affected by societal norms/pressures)?

oh goodness. loads of things. someone recently posted something on I think a Smiths thread along the lines of the reason that band never made it big in America is because of America's pioneer background doing something to the national character, making it (I'm simplifying greatly and for effect here) burlier and more macho and less likely to be interested in some arty pantywaist throwing gladioli around. that doesn't directly deal w/your question but maybe suggests some things that would? I hope. agh.

Actually as someone Jim and I know pointed out earlier today, that data is flawed anyway - 17% of people saying theyre gay on a survey done BY A CONDOM COMPANY ON ITS WEBSITE is going to be skewed toward anyone inclined to go to a condom site to start with.

And who might that be? Well. Hmm. Not every Australian ever, thats for certain.

Which reminds me, did you know the little booklet inside Ansell condoms - the one wot tells you how to put it on, etc - has a small ask that says if you need to send the packet back for a refund on faulty product, not to send them used condoms in the mail.

THIS MEANS SOMEONE MUST HAVE DONE THIS.

Another interesting fact: you can't get 'small' condoms. You can only get large, regular, and...'tighter fitting'. No man is ever going to go into the shop and buy small sized condoms.
