Why can't you make your life be perfect> No matter what happens, why can't you just say it is perfect and move through time?

Mike Hanle y (mike), Friday, 26 September 2003 01:57 (twenty-two years ago)

You can, Mike - but if you don't, then that's also perfect.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Friday, 26 September 2003 02:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Taoism and Buddhism would say just that - that you dont "make" life perfect, you just accept all as it is, and find peace that way.

Damn hard to do in practice though. It involves things like letting go of attachments, which is humanly very difficult.

Does it mean true peace only comes at the expense of not caring about anything else? Hmm...

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 26 September 2003 02:39 (twenty-two years ago)

It doesn't involve letting go, or not letting go, or any kind of policy, or absence of policy, at all. Think of it as a target so big that you hit it no matter what you do or don't do. Also, ignore what I just said, it's wrong.

Wise words.

We can never know what perfection is, my dear turnip. Even if we've already reached perfection we would never know and just muck it up anyway.

Owl Man, Friday, 26 September 2003 03:51 (twenty-two years ago)

depends on what you think perfect is.

donna (donna), Friday, 26 September 2003 05:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I just had a piece of cake that was damn near perfect.

JasonD (JasonD), Friday, 26 September 2003 06:17 (twenty-two years ago)

My life is pretty near perfect. Things go wrong, but i seem to get over things, so something must be right.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 26 September 2003 07:55 (twenty-two years ago)

If things did reach perfect they wouldn't stay that way,(either something bad would happen or you'd just get used to things being perfect and the feeling would fade) so it's best to enjoy what you have, and always have the hope that it can get better too.

Vicky (Vicky), Friday, 26 September 2003 08:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I lurve what you just said then Pinkpanther, life can never be perfect but the whole acceptance of that sorta keeps us content and gets us through the sticky patches.

Fuzzy (Fuzzy), Friday, 26 September 2003 08:18 (twenty-two years ago)

life is mostly boring. the interesting bits come every now and again, but those bits can sure seem close to perfect, even if in an off-centre sort of way.

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Friday, 26 September 2003 08:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I truly enjoy a moist chocolate cake. It sweetens life greatly. If only the kings of distant land cared most about being a fat ass. Then there would be peace in the valley

Only God is perfect. This is merely the best of all possible worlds.
