jones (actual), Saturday, 27 September 2003 18:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Opens in LA next week. Obv. I'm going to be there.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Saturday, 27 September 2003 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I've seen Bubba Ho Tep at this year's Fantasy Filmfest. Can't really recommend it. If you know the premise you know pretty much all the ideas the movie has. Plus the thing has major pacing issues - it makes About Schmidt look like Road Warrior.

I liked the nurse though. She was funny.

Altweibersommermute (Wintermute), Saturday, 27 September 2003 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I really want to see Bubba Ho-Tep, I've heard loads about it! I don't think it'll be getting a decent release in the UK though, and the only film festival screening I've heard of so far is way up north and I doubt I can get up there. Shame, it looks excellent.

Patrick Allan (adr), Sunday, 28 September 2003 08:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Is about Tep?

adaml (adaml), Sunday, 28 September 2003 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Me, my brother, and my ho. Get in.

Tep (ktepi), Sunday, 28 September 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

director was interviewed on NPR's Fresh Air last week. you can find the archive online.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Sunday, 28 September 2003 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks for the tip! He talks about Phantasm half of the time. Very insightful.

Herbstmute (Wintermute), Sunday, 28 September 2003 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I liked it a lot, though I seem to be alone in that.

Nicolars (Nicole), Monday, 29 September 2003 00:38 (twenty-two years ago)

well, I know there's no way it'll live up to my expectations, but I've been waiting A LONG time for this.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 29 September 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

As soon as it screens here, I'm there, and I'll prob'ly enjoy the fuck out of it, cuz I'm a sucker for crazy shit.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 29 September 2003 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

So am I, but this is the lamest crazy shit ever.

Herbstmute (Wintermute), Monday, 29 September 2003 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm a sucker for Bruce Campbell. Unfortunately, I'm not driving to Chicago to see it.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 29 September 2003 15:43 (twenty-two years ago)

three months pass...
Revive because it's playing in DC's new theater. Is it or isn't it worth matinee prices? Or should I see Big Fish instead? Or is there interest in a Bubba Ho-Tep FAP?

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 15 January 2004 01:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I've seen it. And it's fab.

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 15 January 2004 02:55 (twenty-two years ago)

you're nuts. worst movie i've seen in forever. no joke worked, not one.

g--ff (gcannon), Thursday, 15 January 2004 03:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Bruce Campbell is great and it's good to see Coscarelli do something that doesn't involving flying silver balls. I loved it, and Reggie Bannister even pops up.

C-Man (C-Man), Thursday, 15 January 2004 03:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I havenae seen it yet, but I seriously can't imagine Bruce Campbell being anything other than classic in any role.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 15 January 2004 03:37 (twenty-two years ago)

you should try!

g--ff (gcannon), Thursday, 15 January 2004 03:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't believe I agree with he-man's stalker about something, but I liked the movie.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, it's great. Taking a ludicrous comic premise and making a relatively serious movie about it c/d.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 15 January 2004 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, it's worth matinee prices. The action/horror aspects don't really work (it's not scary or exciting) but the comedy is pretty good and it has some surprisingly sad moments. Campbell is great.

NA (Nick A.), Thursday, 15 January 2004 23:07 (twenty-two years ago)

two months pass...
It comes to DVD next month.

Tep (ktepi), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 01:46 (twenty-two years ago)

(And one of the commentary tracks is in-character!)

Tep (ktepi), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 01:46 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...
thanks to hackney's pirate dvd network, i saw this last night. it's one of the best films i've seen in ages. ossie davis is GREAT in it.

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

It comes out on dvd the same day ROTK does, I will be buying both.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

The only possible futures in which I don't buy this movie are the ones ruled by giant robot French fries and Confederate dinosaur women.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

four years pass...

I watched this film again today and forgot how great it is. It's a much better film about ageing, and how we treat the elderly, than Benjamin Button.

Maximo Park Ji-Sung (Matt DC), Sunday, 15 February 2009 20:09 (seventeen years ago)

I now know what movie I'll be watching tonight. I've only seen it once, and loved it.

Bad Banana On Broadway (kenan), Sunday, 15 February 2009 20:15 (seventeen years ago)

It's "The Singing Detective" but with giant cockroaches and undead mummies.

Tracer Hand, Friday, 20 February 2009 12:17 (seventeen years ago)

Cracking little film.

chap, Friday, 20 February 2009 14:24 (seventeen years ago)

yeah. much better second time around.

Michael B, Friday, 20 February 2009 14:26 (seventeen years ago)

It's a much better film about ageing, and how we treat the elderly, than Benjamin Button.

Yes.

I really need to watch this again.

Nicolars (Nicole), Friday, 20 February 2009 14:30 (seventeen years ago)

"Lydon Johnson's dead"

"Shiiiit. That ain't gonna stop him"

David Bentley: Rhythm Ace (Matt DC), Friday, 20 February 2009 14:40 (seventeen years ago)

I couldn't make it through this film and I have a total wide-on for Bruce Campbell.

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony ft Phil Collins (jim), Friday, 20 February 2009 14:47 (seventeen years ago)

^ Incomprehensible

Tracer Hand, Friday, 20 February 2009 14:49 (seventeen years ago)

i was watching it with two other people and only the one who didn't care about Bruce wanted to keep watching.

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony ft Phil Collins (jim), Friday, 20 February 2009 14:50 (seventeen years ago)

it's pronounced "clit-on"

harry s tfuman (and what), Friday, 20 February 2009 14:50 (seventeen years ago)

this movie is so great

peep game on gas prices (deej), Wednesday, 4 March 2009 02:55 (seventeen years ago)

Love love love it. Joe R. Landsdale is to fiction what Bruce Campbell is to movies... my very own double whammy of awesomeness.
