Saying I am happy AND even more charged up for December...understates.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 29 September 2003 04:55 (twenty-two years ago)

It renders the next Matrix sequel useless.

Gear! (Gear!), Monday, 29 September 2003 06:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Though admittedly Reloaded probably took care of that already.

Gear! (Gear!), Monday, 29 September 2003 06:39 (twenty-two years ago)

YAY!!!!

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Monday, 29 September 2003 07:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Incredible, I loved the little glimpse of Shelob the spider, roll on December!

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Monday, 29 September 2003 07:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Ack! ROTK & Extended TT! Can't. Wait. Til. December...

*Rushes home to watch FOTR leaving flurry of paper and spinning office chair*

robster (robster), Monday, 29 September 2003 07:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooh, I had almost forgotten. This somewhat dulls the sting of a good year escaping from my grasp.

Blood and sparkles (bloodandsparkles), Monday, 29 September 2003 08:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Eh. The Matrix Revolutions trailer that just went up kicks this one's ass for the demographic that never owned pewter orcs.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 29 September 2003 09:31 (twenty-two years ago)

yeh the new Matrix trailer rocks, and i'm still loving the Animatrix

stevem (blueski), Monday, 29 September 2003 09:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I know how Return of the King ends, Sam and Frodo find the treasure of One Eyed Willie and save their homes from foreclosure.

Nicolars (Nicole), Monday, 29 September 2003 11:18 (twenty-two years ago)

UTTER GENIUS. Real estate woes always get me worked up.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 29 September 2003 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Nicole is awesome.

I just noticed the other day that Sean Astin is the guy that got to do the "but Mr. Frodo, the people in those stories, they kept going" speech in LoTR as well as the "it's our time, it's our time down here!" speech in Goonies, and I've decided he's one of the best "don't-give-up" dialogists in Hollywood.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh and Andrew Farrell totally OTM...haha "pewter orcs".

I imagine I will be spending the majority of my waking hours this December as a movie theatre cave-dweller.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh and Andrew Farrell totally OTM...haha "pewter orcs".

Never owned 'em or went to a Ren Fest. I DEFY THEE, DEMOGRAPHICS!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 29 September 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I know they're being faithful to the books, but I was never that fond of "And now, a big fucking battle". Though Shelob + the long crawl east = even more hobbit lezzing up, which was definitely the best bit of the second film.

Also I note there's still Too Much Liv Tyler.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 29 September 2003 15:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Return to the trailer, King! Good, boy. Now, sit.

Skottie, Monday, 29 September 2003 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

"Too Much Liv Tyler" = does not compute.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 29 September 2003 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I know how Return of the King ends, Sam and Frodo find the treasure of One Eyed Willie and save their homes from foreclosure.

no, you're thinking of the ending of _Raging Bull_.

Return of the King ends with Sam & Frodo escaping from a Nazi POW camp. Frodo does a spectacular motorcycle stunt, but gets caught and sent back to the "cooler". Sam makes it all the way to Spain, however.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 29 September 2003 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

But where does the King come into all this?

Herbstmute (Wintermute), Monday, 29 September 2003 18:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Duh. He returns.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 29 September 2003 18:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Return of the King ends with Sam & Frodo escaping from a Nazi POW camp. Frodo does a spectacular motorcycle stunt, but gets caught and sent back to the "cooler". Sam makes it all the way to Spain, however.

To do what? Sam could never survive without having Frodo to guide. Can't see him happily sunning himself among mucho margaritas....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 29 September 2003 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

true, but sam had on his lucky stocking cap, which guided him all the way.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 29 September 2003 19:03 (twenty-two years ago)

The stocking cap wouldn't have matched the hobbit sense of style.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 29 September 2003 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

But where does the King come into all this?

He gets his hand cut off, replaces it with a chainsaw and triumphs over the undead hordes.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 29 September 2003 19:22 (twenty-two years ago)

The stocking cap wouldn't have matched the hobbit sense of style.

yeah, but he was undercover n' shit.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 29 September 2003 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Sam makes it all the way to Spain, however.

Then, in part 4, Smeagol comes to Spain to talk Sam into salvaging the Ring from the bottom of the volcano. Sam refuses, so Smeagol beats him up and calls him a fat cunt. Sam shoots Smeagol and buries him under the pool. But in the end Sam shoulders his scuba gear and sets out to Mordor anyway.

Herbstmute (Wintermute), Monday, 29 September 2003 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

So do they ever catch Moose and Skvirrel in this one?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 29 September 2003 19:35 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, but he was undercover n' shit.

Again, those feet are a dead giveaway. He'd just look like a kid playing cops n' robbers....

[The trailer reminded me, again, why life is SO worth living. Matrix, my arse.]

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 29 September 2003 19:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Almost forgot: Dominic Monaghan (Merry) was on the Sharon Osborne show this morning. (Course, I was late in leaving because of it.) Turns out he'll soon be living in L.A., as "there is more work for actors here, and [he has] few responsibilities...."

Lucky sod.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 29 September 2003 19:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Sam shoots Smeagol and buries him under the pool.

then, inexplicably, a humanoid rabbit shows up to bugger sam in a weird shower/strobe-light scene.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 29 September 2003 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

As I am currently trying to destroy the image that just popped into the grey matter, can I just say, "Ew"?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 29 September 2003 21:01 (twenty-two years ago)

and then donnie darko shows up to run over that rabbit in a car.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 29 September 2003 21:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Not quite...Donnie Darko in a specially equipped DeLorean drops out of a wormhole and lands on that rabbit's head.

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 29 September 2003 22:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, the latter examples terrorized DeForest Kelley...although he's cool. So maybe they should have attacked Shatner.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 29 September 2003 22:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and larger-screen official versions now available. Go nuts or not or whatever...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 29 September 2003 23:04 (twenty-two years ago)

So maybe they should have attacked Shatner.

His head already looks flattened, besides he's way easy, as he's constantly out there....
