Mike Hanle y, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

jess, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

from an ex bulemic, this is not the route to happiness my friend.

Geoff, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

What sorta job stress dude? Pretend you are Jackie Chan for the afternoon!

jel, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

no, pretend you are buck rogers

Mike Hanle y, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Ha! Work. I had an hour lecture today then sat in the bar for the rest. I do a 14 hour week, plus less hours some weeks. I am 3rd in the statscock, truly life is coming together perfectly. Now if I could just score some of those nice women at College, I'd be set. Give me a week or so to work my magic,

Ronan, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Bloody students, don't know they're born, mutter, grumble.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I'm third

Mike Hanle y, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Not on the monthly one, Mike. Your uncunning email change confused the cock.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

ronan hast earned a punch in the stomach when next i am in ireland. (which, if the current rate of exchange is anything go by = another 17 odd years. by which time i are doddering old man type unable to throw punch.)

jess, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

jess, youre nice, please dont vomit. Take some deep breaths, eat a peach and calm yourself. Everything will be okay, I promise.

rainy, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I have all time legendary stats. Like Kate, the Babe Ruth of ILE, M

Mike Hanle y, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

ah, but will you be thrown out of the hall of fame for conspiring to throw the statscock into confusion, shoeless hanle y?

(and rainy, thank you. my $8,000 grocery order arrived after lunch. that took a lot of weight off.)

jess, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

okay, the vomiting sensation has returned. different reason tho.

jess, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Oh blimey. Think about Moomins. That always calms me down.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

i would. if i knew what they were. ;)

shouldn't you be tucked in, ricky t?

jess, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Do you feel like vomiting b/c you're in love? Or did you eat a bad peach? I wish I could help. Just remember: the worst thing you can do is the polka.

rainy, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

i felt like vomiting because the girl who i *am* in love with (who i was not "with"...until now) somehow stumbled upon the thread where i related about me getting some outside nookie. it was...tense. and ultimately silly. and made things better. but tense, none the less.

which reminds me that tomorrow (i've had my alotment for the day) i need to start a thread like "has il* ever gotten you in the doghouse"? or...maybe i should just cut my losses.

jess, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

and no polka-ing. unless i find my weird al records. :)

jess, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Jess, I read what that girl wrote about you, that list of stuff. And it was soo sweet and lovely, I was rendered speechless by the sweetness. When someone cares about you that much, stuff like this ends up not mattering.

rainy, Tuesday, 2 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Withhold thy vomit and believe that it will have its end... out the other end...

dinosaur, Wednesday, 3 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Ack. I wrote a reply but BTbloodyInternet's DNS server fell over AGAIN and IE didn't cache the form text. I even managed - oh great rarity - to keep it reasonably brief. Sigh.

Jess: I feel sympathetic. However, I couldn't express that very well last time, and now I'm too annoyed to try. Sorry. Instead I will follow RickyT's suggestion and offer you Moomins! Woohoo. Don't you feel calmer already?

But be careful out there, kids, because trying to remember how to spell Muumimaailma is proven by science [shortest IL* fad evah?] to *increase* stress and frustration in non-Finns.

You're right, UKers should be tucked up in bed, safe from the irritation of internet brokenness.

Rebecca, Wednesday, 3 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

th emouth. capable of so much. speech, eating, vomiting, kissing, oral sex, licking

Mike Hanle y, Wednesday, 3 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I wanna go to Moominland! They've got Hattifattiners and everything!

Richard Tunnicliffe, Wednesday, 3 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Did I say a week?

Ronan, Wednesday, 3 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I think I'll be joining Jess in the punching Ronan in the stomach game.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Wednesday, 3 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I deserve to do it to myself for not aiming higher, truth be told.

Ronan, Wednesday, 3 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I think I'm going to vomit too. Also speaking as an ex bulimic, it might lend to some exciting mood swings and erratic heart rates... oh hold on, I have those already. Ummmm.... well maybe bile would taste nicer than my civil service canteen lunch. I wanna go home.

Sarah, Wednesday, 3 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Several years ago a person told me that vomiting Pepsi tasted better going up than going down as a sipped liquid. Never tested his claim...

dinosaur, Wednesday, 3 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

actually in theory if you ate alka seltzer pie it might neutralise th e vomi enough to mak eit yummers

Mike Hanle y, Wednesday, 3 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I barfed up peaches and corn last week. it was awesome. and it was in the shape of australia.

Throwing up can be a psychosomatic response to exactly the kind of situation you're describing Jess. I saw a careers counsellor once and it sounds bogus, but it really helped. I was feeling really unwell before that - migraines, flu every couple of months, constant fatigue, not much sexual desire - my girlfriend broke things off with me when things became too crazy. I guess you could say I'm a pretty depressing person to be around. But don't let me get you down - striving to be on the road you want to be on is the best thing you can do. When you're happy with what you're doing, everything else falls into place. At least, that's what I've read.

max, Sunday, 29 November 2009 22:48 (fourteen years ago) link

max is it too much turkey nausea or too much drinkin' nausea or both or neither?

quincie, Sunday, 29 November 2009 22:52 (fourteen years ago) link

drinkin + other substances i think. or could just be a stomach flu made worse by drinkin and other substances. i took some pepto.... and then threw it up

Oh max that is the worst! I wish promethazine (anti-nausea drug) was an OTC drug, it's the only thing I find works to stop endless puking action.

I got nauseous an hour before thxgiving dinner was done cooking & had to sit at the kitchen table with my hands over my eyes & tell the Viceroy what to do wityh all the eight things cooking at the moment. He handled it like a champ. I puked. I think it was beaujolais + grief that spurred it.

mascara and ties (Abbott), Sunday, 29 November 2009 22:59 (fourteen years ago) link

ugh that sucks abbott--so glad this came after thanksgiving.

i puked up an amazing jerk chicken tho, too bad

max, Sunday, 29 November 2009 23:00 (fourteen years ago) link

I hope it didn't spoil jerk chicken for you.

mascara and ties (Abbott), Sunday, 29 November 2009 23:01 (fourteen years ago) link

nothing could spoil jerk chicken for me

max, Sunday, 29 November 2009 23:01 (fourteen years ago) link

aw abbs that sucks. i heard the beaujolais this year was not good.

tehresa, Sunday, 29 November 2009 23:02 (fourteen years ago) link

Not so much.

mascara and ties (Abbott), Sunday, 29 November 2009 23:03 (fourteen years ago) link

Oh man, I stopped taking this one medication in September and could not hold anything down for at least two weeks. Since then I still get intermittently, randomly nauseous. Sometimes I'll feel uncomfortable for a few hours beforehand, others I'll just suddenly fe3el the urge to throw up. I went to the doctor, who seemed pretty baffled by the whole thing & put me on six weeks of prilosec. I want to say it helped but this still happens every two or three days. She said I'd have to see a gastroenterologist otherwise bcz she wasn't really sure what was going on (not an option atm as I have no insurance).

It's really frustrating not knowing whether I'll be able to keep my meals in my stomach on a particular day. It's so random and vexing that I just want to cry over it all. Puking really isn't fun.

This kind of fucked up my whole semester, too...Bs when I should have gotten As bcz I missed so much class.
