I may be away for some time

Not a question, just an announcement. My wife was taken seriously ill this week and is currently recuperating in hospital. While she is now off the critical list, this obviously means that I shan't be initiating or contributing to any ILE/ILM threads for some considerable time, although I will continue to glance at it whenever I can find a spare moment.

I would like to thank everyone with whom I've conversed on these boards over the past two months or so for some stimulating talk and even the occasional bit of wisdom. I must make special mention of Robin C and Mark S (almost my two alter egos split in twain, musically speaking) but it was also good to meet Tom and the others here in Oxford last week. It was a pity I wasn't able to stay for longer, and I hope I'll be able to keep in touch with you all by some means. Oh yes . . . I don't know if I'm still Ally's personal hero, but even if I'm not it was still a nice thought.

Hope to be back here in the farness of future (unless I manage to get my own website up and running - that too has to take second place to more pressing matters right now).

Best wishes to you all. Over and out for now.

Best wishes and good luck with all that Marcello. Hope yr wife makes a swift recovery. Thinking of you: and also of prog vs free, the conundrum still circling.

Good luck indeed, Marcello, and my sympathies. Hope things turn out fine. I *love* the compliment you pay me and Mark, incidentally.

When I do my US drive later this month I'll make a point of pulling over in the desert and playing a track for you (not 'the strokes'.) Ok, this'll probably mean more to me, but my thoughts are with you. Look forward to your return, hope it all works out.

What everyone said above (apart from K-reg as it's unlikely I'll be in the US his year).
