pleasant surprises in football

Wow, that Southampton v Charlton game had it all, early lead, end-to end stuff. Scott Parker brings Charlton back to level with two screamers and then the Saints score the winner in the last minutes, they'll be dancing in the streets of Beavis Valley (or however you spell where that awful hobbit pub is) tonight.

The Southampton game was a particularly delightful surprise after I'd spent Wednesday evening sitting in a shit pub watching their dull game against Portsmouth. I suspect Sven was very impressed with Scott Parker today - lots of good hard work in midfield and two tremendous goals.

The six minutes (66072) of the Chievo v. Roma game in which Roma scored their three goals was absolutely magnificent. Totti's pass for Mancini's goal was absolutely outstanding, likewise the two balls played by Mancini for the other two goals. Agreed on the Saints v. Charlton game too; much as I like Charltan I'm glad Saints won cos that means Swygart will be happy!

while not a partuicularly pleasant surprise for me, in the Celtic - Partick game on Thursday there was a moment where two players were tussling for the ball, one had hold of the others' shorts, gave a yank, and the full meat and two veg were left dangling in the breeze.

That belongs on the conflicting emotions on seeing another man's cocker thread, Chris.

i remember settling down to watch blackburn vs sheffield wednesday a few seasons ago. didn't expect it to be anything more than passable. i think it finished 7-2 to blackburn. stuart ripley turned in one of the best individual performances since the premiership started (i kid you not) and benite carbone scored 2 extraordinarily good goals. sizzling.

well it pissed me off because i predicted a 0-0 as my joker.

five months pass...
great things about sompton v newcastle last night:

- fernandes and telfer down the right
- ameobi's (sometimes) deadly clumsiness
- svenssons twist and turn for the beattie goal
- an old-school bowyer goal
- southampton debut goallie's save from shearer
- caldwell fouling people
- some extraordinarily good pieces of skill from bernard down the left.
- me thinking griffit is one of the premiership's worst players, then he scores a brilliant winner

Titus Bramble (aka the worlds clumsiest giant baby) had me chuckling all night.

Bowyers goal was a peach too, he hit it soooo well.

Graham Poll had an absolute nightmare though

Graham Poll is terrible. Twice last night he waited for an advantage, saw that there was one, and then blew up to take play back. Twat.
