If someone could explain about the propagation of electromagnetic waves to me, that would be really great.

same here re: 'how babies are made'

Specifically radio waves. And maybe radiobabies.

This is how my parents explained it to me:

I am glad that Mark P is posting more these days.

different question (sorry): i was reading about how they managed to slow down light today (without losing energy, or something) and i didn't understand. i thought the speed thereof was, like, a constant or something ... but indeed i'm no rocket scientist

C is the speed of light in a vacuum.

The ways radio waves propagate are extremely dependent on the frequency/wavelength of the waves themselves. Some waves can be bounced off the troposphere and go extremely long distances while others are only good for line-of-sight. The coolest are the VLF waves that propagate through the earth. That's what the Navy uses to communicate with submarines, they have big long snake antennas hanging out the back of the Tridents to communicate with massive shore stations.

but like they slowed it down and didn't lose energy or something

brian nemtusak (sanlazaro), Friday, 12 December 2003 05:39 (twenty-two years ago)

i should've paid closer attention

They fed the light donuts and the subsequent sugar-rush ensured that energy levels remained high but the paunch prevented it from moving as quickly or looking quite as snakehipped and HAWT as previous

ah

HSA to thread. Honestly. Sometimes I wish he posted here, so he could bang on about radiowaves and electromagnetic waves and how much he loves the National Grid all day long. I would like that. Then there would be more threads like this.
