So a work mate is telling me all about this hangover cure called RU21. You take a pill between every couple of drinks and you don't get a hangover. I suspect it may me hilariously bad for you in the long term (but then so is alcohol). Anyone tried it? Know anything about it? Useful websites? And I had been toying with the idea of giving up drinking as the after effects are getting quite unpleasant.

There is a similar drug available in Finland, I think, but you have to take it several hours before you start driking.

Toby does this, but his pill is called water.

What happened to the other 465 RU's?

I am willing to take the risk of looking like a fool in order to salvage this thread and ask Kate what she is talking about.

Kate - What are you talking about?

the following is from ru21.blogspot.com
"ru21 is not the only breakthrough to emerge from the former Soviet Union. Now that the Cold War is over, scientists are returning to projects they had been working on for the past 20 years. SKS-Alyans, the company that manufactures and sells the Russian version of ru21 (Antipokhmelin, or "Anti-Hangover"), is working with scientists and medical consultants at the Zdorovye Institute to develop other discarded Soviet-era projects including a caffeine-free energy drink and smoking cessation medicines" ha ha ha :]

It was in also in The Sun so it *must* be true.

cuz, RU-486 is the "morning after" contraceptive, and hangovers are oft-referred to as the "morning after."
But as I said to my pretend boss this morning "Gosh, I didn't know it was possible to be TOO cynical!"

Well, it's only natural as drunkenness is usually the number one cause of unplanned pregnancy. Oh wait, no, it would be the number two cause. Sex is the number one cause. But drunkenness is the number one cause of unplanned sex!

Whew! That was some strange logic! My brain is frazzled from thinking too hard about my reports.

unplanned sex is often the cause of drunkenness
