Vancouver B.C. FAP.. New Years! (12/31 - 1/03)

Aaaaand I've been invited to a going-away party for a couple of friends up in Le Van, who are both moving to a far away land. Not to cast these people as XTREEEEME or anything, but if there was any New Years Eve party where, I'm guessing, pretty much anyone was invited over, this one will be it.
So, then!

*whistles* *mild breeze of silent air*

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 15 December 2003 08:59 (twenty-two years ago)

(Mods, could you delete the ILM thread please.. sorry)

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 15 December 2003 08:59 (twenty-two years ago)

uh...if I had done a better job of saving money, I'd be there (got fam + friends galore in VanCity). But I'm lousy.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 15 December 2003 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I wanna go, but I can't :(

(as I live in England and am having a NYE do of my own)

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 15 December 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I dunno, I'm gonna be in NYC, so. But I'm sure the four-day New Years party will be tons o' fun.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 15 December 2003 17:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Halos over Victoria. Devil horns over Vancouver. I love how this holiday season is turning out for me.

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 15 December 2003 18:24 (twenty-two years ago)

(Just in case you didn't know, New Year's Day is the Devil's holiday)

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 15 December 2003 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Says who?

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 15 December 2003 18:44 (twenty-two years ago)

uh, probably Satan.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 15 December 2003 18:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Satan never talks to me anymore.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 15 December 2003 18:45 (twenty-two years ago)

You blew Saddam's cover. What did you expect?

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 15 December 2003 18:46 (twenty-two years ago)

< /south park reference>

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 15 December 2003 18:46 (twenty-two years ago)

speaking of anagrams of Satan and recent detainees, a guy I work with had to explain to his 4 yr old son why the army capture Santa.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 15 December 2003 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

two weeks pass...
TWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOO DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

SATAN SATAN SATAN....!

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 29 December 2003 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Drunk.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 29 December 2003 21:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Off! See y'all. Will try to check shit online.. Darren? I'll try to grab his ass on the ILM side. (haha, db in scaring yet another semi ilxor lurker shocker)

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm a Van lurker...
But I'm busy.

sym (shmuel), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 22:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, I just don't know what a FAP is.

sym (shmuel), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 23:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm an hour east of Van and it's 4:30 pm on New Year's Eve and I only just saw this thread (being more of an ILMer than an ILEer) but had I seen it earlier (before I had plans to go to the bar and crash a party later) I'd probably have been able to make it into Van. Fuck.

donut bitch -- please don't damn Van...

Isn't DarrensCoq from these parts, too? (Maybe this shoulda been posted on ILM?)

Happy New Year anyways.

David A. (Davant), Thursday, 1 January 2004 00:38 (twenty-two years ago)

(Weird how the date shows January 1st. Is there a setting I can change for that?)

David A. (Davant), Thursday, 1 January 2004 00:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait, I just read the whole thread properly. It's amazing how much went right over my head. ;)

David A. (Davant), Thursday, 1 January 2004 00:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Donut, where are you going to be? I'm supposed to be in Whistler by 10pm but I could feasibly meet for coffee or something. I live on Kits Beach, about a minute from downtown.

DarrensCoq (DarrenK), Thursday, 1 January 2004 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, I have my own transportation. But currently in negotiations with dad to see if I can borrow his $160k BMW FuckoffMobile (which is probably an atrocious idea.)

DarrensCoq (DarrenK), Thursday, 1 January 2004 00:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Bad idea because: when I was a teen I dropped his golf bag onto muddy grass one weekend and he slapped me so hard my left ear bled. He's old but he's still got bizarre strength - I'd hate to have to die for one night of bling.

DarrensCoq (DarrenK), Thursday, 1 January 2004 01:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Alright, I'm leaving for Whistler. Donut, I've mailed you my cell #, have fun at the house party, we will def. meet sometime in the future (same w you David). Donut I can guestlist you on pretty short notice for the premier house venues tonight (Grande, Shine, Cave) so feel free to call if the house party doesn't happen or something.

DarrensCoq (DarrenK), Thursday, 1 January 2004 01:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey all! Well, yeah, I don't have a car so I'm pretty much restricted to Vancouver strictly. No Whistler. Thank you Darren, but I guess we just missed each other this time.

NYE was a blast. Apparently a guy performed some underwear trick and then gave himself a booze-weed enema. I thankfully fell asleep during the latter part. But I stumbled out the earliest at 11:30am this morning. I just came back from da house seeing Baron Mon Chausen and Ghostbusters, and am now typing this from the 18th floor of the Marriott in downtown at a friends' place.

Matos, get your damn birth certificate. We need to FAP here, seriously,

:) :) Happy new years folks. Tomorrow, I record shop. Watch out Beat Street.

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 2 January 2004 07:20 (twenty-two years ago)

DarrensCoq, yes! I'm out here in the Valley, family-encumbered (wouldn't want it any other way, of course) but it's usually not a problem getting into the "big" city, nonetheless.

And DB, the reason Matos hasn't made it up here is a paperwork issue? (That's starting to be my problem getting down into WA, too. Rules, etc.)

Oh, and in spite of never having encountered this specific behaviour, "booze-weed enemas" sound oddly par for the course up here, it's that kind of atmosphere. ;)

David A. (Davant), Friday, 2 January 2004 07:26 (twenty-two years ago)

People should go to shine on friday nights. It's so ILMish it's ridiculous.

sym (shmuel), Friday, 2 January 2004 12:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm back in Seattle.... back in snuggly balmy windy 19F.. (or -7C to my bruthas up north). So, is this the official threshold for when people decide to not go outside at all even on a Saturday night? The sight of practically no cars on the streets was quite eerie. Or was there some imposed self-imposed martial law that I didn't know about? People in Vancouver were all bitchy this past week in similar temperatures, but at least they actually braved the cold and went out and had their drunken fun.

(Oh, I forget, this is what downtown Seattle is like every night at this time.. oopsie... sorry.)

All in all, Woohoo! Kissa my assicle!

And by popular request, the recipe for a "booze weed enema"

1.Soak buds in giant bottle of Everclear for a while
2.Insert bottle into ass
3.Bend over

You can thank me later.

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 4 January 2004 05:16 (twenty-two years ago)

We need to FAP here, seriously,

Hm....

Kissa my assicle!

Certainly not, you rude little man!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 4 January 2004 06:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll FAP in Seattle once I get my paperwork sorted. As it stands, even though I've lived in Canada since 19-freakin-88, they wouldn't let me back in right now if I left the country. Can you believe it? Fucking terrorism and bureaucracy and sundry paranoid shite.

David A. (Davant), Sunday, 4 January 2004 07:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Whistler was sketch, the most disorganized NYE ever. Ended up at house party held by random acquaintance (that I never saw before). Thankfully he was good shit and it was alright, and my core group of friends was there. Oh yeah, I quit drugs for good that night - nine years of spending a hundred bucks plus every weekend on chemicals: over. I'm 24 yrs old and it was taking its toll. I've had no withdrawals, and I just had a blast completely sober tonight and I'm very proud of myself.

Darrens8====D (DarrenK), Sunday, 4 January 2004 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, two people got shot dead in Gastown last night near Sonar so they shut Sonar down tonight (though I know for a fact it had nothing to do with Sonar). They're 'speculating' that it was east indians vs. asians but I know for a fact it was east indians vs. asians as usual. It's funny how British people call what Canadian people call east indians 'asians'. Anyway, 'asians' in vancouver need to stop shooting each other in club districts, esp. the 'friendly' ones. And I'm asian so shut the fuck up if you were planning to get offended. It's ALWAYS us.

Darrens8====D (DarrenK), Sunday, 4 January 2004 13:05 (twenty-two years ago)

PS I'm down for a Seattle or Vancouver FAP, just let me know, I'm mobile like a crack dealer.

Darrens8====D (DarrenK), Sunday, 4 January 2004 13:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I heard about the shooting in Gastown this morning on BCTV (in the hotel room). No one had been confirmed dead by then though. :( I was thankfully either a) asleep during this, or b) roaming a good five or six blocks away from the incident carrying tons of vinyl I got at Beat Street, Otis, and Zulu.

I did almost had an incident with three extremely fucking obnoxious hockey jocks at the Granville Pita Pit, who were all really loud and descending upon the sole punk rock girl working there "being all by herself, POOR THING! WE HAVE TO HELP YOU". (Grrrrrrrrrrr)

Fucking hell, you'd think the rare snow would have made everyone feel all chilly and christmas-ey so that shit like this wouldn't happen.

Darren and all VanX0rz, Lexaunculpt is playing somewhere in Vancouver January 7th, you should go.

I DEFINITELY want to come back up for a weekend for a FAP, even if I have to call all my Seattle friends' respective birth state capitals to get them their goddamn birth certificate copies. (Sadly, the Lexaunculpt show, which would have been the PERFECT excuse, is on a Wednesday)

(or you guys could come down here, and show you a good time... sorry, no booze weed enema bars down here as far as we know though)

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 4 January 2004 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and if we do the Vancouver FAP... lunchtime at Pho Bich N'Ga is URGENT AND KEY! Just because.

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 4 January 2004 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Though I'm still planning on a visit to Portland for Memorial Day weekend, I could be tempted by one of the other upcoming three day weekends or something for a visit up to Seattle/Vancouver -- not this month, maybe Feb or March. Then there could be even more FAP MADNESS.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 4 January 2004 15:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll FAP in Seattle once I get my paperwork sorted. As it stands, even though I've lived in Canada since 19-freakin-88, they wouldn't let me back in right now if I left the country. Can you believe it? Fucking terrorism and bureaucracy and sundry paranoid shite.

Oh, this is that maple leaf card or whatnot, for "permanent residents", eh? I freaked out about that recently because I'm heading to the US in a few days and didn't have my card. I figured I needed one because, hey, I'm a permanent resident in Canada...lived here my whole life. (Turns out that citizens don't need the damn card, but try finding that out on the Immigration website after hearing about the card on the CBC and getting into a panic because no one ever defines what "permanent resident" is to those of us who've never learned the term because we've actually never immigrated to Canada. Sheesh.)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 4 January 2004 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Sean, give us our warm air back!

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 4 January 2004 19:33 (twenty-two years ago)

That's the one, Sean. I'm a Landed Immigrant still, but is that different from Permanent Resident? I knew I shoulda got my citizenship years ago (I think it costs a couple hundred hard-earned loonies nowadays, right?). Anyway, I probably don't deserve to be a Canadian now :(

Paperwork aside, a Seattle/Van FAP sounds like fun. I'll keep checking this space.

(DarrensCoq, what about "Indo-Canadian", too? And, ha, you're right about the Brits, they tend to say "South Asians", but, hey, isn't India in Asia or something, when all's said and done?)

(Warm air... I remember that...)
