Is your workplace like school in that in the days before Christmas little work gets done?

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 09:19 (twenty-two years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 09:29 (twenty-two years ago)

this is to all intents and purposes a 4.25 day working week on account of:

carols round the Christmas tree (NB I'm not singing) and mince pies at 3.15 on Thursday

Christmas lunch on Friday (my last working day of the year, yay!) and by tradition, we DON'T COME BACK afterwards!

Yeah my workplace is like school and this is the last week. :)

Read the TittyTwister list to see what my last week is like.

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 09:48 (twenty-two years ago)

no-one has sprsyed anyone with Silly String as yet.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 09:54 (twenty-two years ago)

In 'el barrio', Mark, there is no silly string. Just 22s, bricks and no pulling out.

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 10:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Sam, you're up late! I guess I have a bit of an end of term atmosphere in that I have literally NO work to do at all! My colleague has suggested I just go Xmas shopping instead.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 10:32 (twenty-two years ago)

good plan! I am losing half of my team to wobs shopping this afternoon, so it's going to be a tad quiet.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 10:34 (twenty-two years ago)

3rd period is my off period. And it is the first exam period tomorrow.

So I have no students till 11:30. :)

A Girl Named Sam (thatgirl), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 10:34 (twenty-two years ago)

not at all, this is just about the busiest time of year here, fortunately I'm only doing minor probblems compared to the nightmare of last year

chris (chris), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 10:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm doing very little work at the moment but that also holds true for the rest of the year.

Maybe I'll bring in Connect 4 on Friday.

robster (robster), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 10:55 (twenty-two years ago)

it's my CHristmas work do today but i'm not sure if it's just for our department or what. it starts at midday, FEAR...

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 11:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Seeing as my workplace is a university library, yes. There's no one here, just me listening to Mouse On Mars and blogging.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 11:06 (twenty-two years ago)

only kind of. tomorrow more, probably.

today we have our christmas lunch, then going to the party with my guy tonight. i'm a little scared, since it's highly scheduled.

but my boss is gone tomorrow, so i'll be slacking for sure :)

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

haha I almost started a thread like this back in OCTOBER!!! Except I was going to call it 'Senioritis.'

It is way worse for me this year than it has ever been, since I have three weeks of vacation starting on the 30th. It started on that thanksgiving slack week, and since then everyone's had the flu (including me) and now next week is the xmas slack week! Then I'm off to ROME for three weeks, then back for three weeks, then off to NASSAU for a 'business trip' (haha) over a long weekend. Sometime in there I also have to try to get a job for after my move this summer.

I'm working sixty hours Christmas week, covering for everyone else who wants to spend time with their kids. (I'm actually the only aide working for my agency who isn't a single mom. Really.) However, I do get Christmas day off. It's my only day off that week.

Christine 'Green Leafy Dragon' Indigo (cindigo), Thursday, 18 December 2003 03:57 (twenty-two years ago)

*looks on longingly, wishing she had some paid employment right now*

(Not that I mean anything malevolent toward anyone here. It's just that not having any work leaves me alone with thoughts I'd rather not think.)

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 18 December 2003 04:19 (twenty-two years ago)

This is the first year in a while I've actively taken a nice chunk of time off at xmas (I'm usually happy to have the excuse not to have to go back to my parents, haha gee I'm nice). I'm looking forwards to mecha food, drunkenness and hopefully a chemically enhanced NYE, maybe up a tree in the park or something. I dunoo. Whee!

God I'm bored and I'm so busy trying to finish all my work by tomorrow argh.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 18 December 2003 05:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Not here, we work right through xmas, I'm on nights over xmas itself and we have three new channels supossedly installing on the 29th.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 18 December 2003 08:38 (twenty-two years ago)

What are the new channels, Ed? *crosses fingers for free pr0n*

robster (robster), Thursday, 18 December 2003 09:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got two days to hand over my precious database for good. I've re-written the manual twice, but people STILL do things wrong. How many times do I have to standardise the data entry, and say "I don't care how many different ways you've done it before, this is the way we do it now!" Sigh. So I'm a bit scared, feeling like a proud parent about to let their child out of the nest.

Apart from that, it's really jolly around here. Could be cause the big boss (who I actually really like, tho) is out on holiday for two weeks.
