mark s: well i wz having a pretty good time anyway, but i wz still watching saddam on tv thinking "at least i'm not him"
jess: i seriously wonder what will become of him
jess: in 20 years he'll probably be a military attache
mark s: he's 66 now so i think he might be a bit past it
jess: well, we have a habit of making old fossils work past their prime
mark s: "kissinger pinochet hussein associates"
mark s: we shd do a treament for a lawyer sitcom
mark s: not that any of them are lawyers
mark s: all the funnier
jess: we'll have the war crimes tribunal MAKE them be lawyers
mark s: it's abt time there was a sitcom based in the hague
jess: this way we can also pull the hip electroclash audience by stuffing the tribunal with guys with limahl hair
mark s: this is a winner
jess: it's up there with ethan's and my movie treatment about the wacky aborted fetus with donald sutherland's voice

I'm flabbergasted by this statement.

Well, I just meant that I had never thought of that response. I'm not, like, insulted nor do I think less of you for it or anything. But, I mean, the comment implies a certain amount of, I don't know, sympathy's not the right word, but like, it's such a contrived and complicated affair he's embroiled in.
I mean, at least to me, when I think, "at least I'm not that person," it's usually in reference to someone who had some at least nominally random fuck-up befall them, like a tornado destroyed their home, or an anvil fell on their head. I mean, it's not like you could just wake up one day and find yourself, quite by surprise, one of the two most dispised (at least by Western Culture) people of the 21st Century.
I'm not making a judgment at all, Mark. Or maybe I'm applauding your imagination? Is that what it is.
The statement surprised me. That's what I'm saying.

i'm ignorant; what's "limahl hair"?

El Santo Claus (Kingfish), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 22:22 (twenty-two years ago)

CHERISH YOUR IGNORANCE

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 17 December 2003 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Does that mean we get to start I Love Ignorance?
