Quiz questions which are wrong....

Prompted by the Trivial Pursuit "How Many Actors Have Played James Bond" card which has been out of date for years. And they thought they were being so smart with it too.

I was on a radio quiz in the late eighties where I had to name a hit that A-Ha has in 1984. I said The Suun Always Shines On TV - remembering it as the first no.1 of the year. They disallowed it as it was released on the 27th December 83. Stuff like that.

So other Trivial Pursuit, TV quiz questions where the given answers have been wrong.

i believe there is a trivial pursuit question "what is the capital of texas", and then gives the answer as dallas. it is, of course, austin

I was on Blockbusters years ago and one of the questions was wrong. It was chaos. The person answering gave the correct answer, and of course Bob Holness said it was wrong, and everyone realised what had happened. Had to use lots of editing to basically change the show as a result.

Wish I could remember what the question was...

There are some bad ones on Top Of The Pops, mostly to do with band's- actual-name pedantry. Can't remember any of the details though - maybe this should have been called Quiz Iniquities so you could have fulminated over the Barcrest/Maygay outrage.

"I was on Blockbusters years ago": erm, run this by us again, Paul...

Sorry. Blockbusters = TV quiz show from the 80s and early 90s whereby students compete for often rubbish prizes.

High Fidelity (I know it's not a fucking quiz show) where they talk about Evil Dead 2 being the medieval one -mmmbullshit, it's evil dead 3. Isn't 2 the one where the tree fucks the chick?

Geoff, Monday, 2 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Yup. And it is also one of my all time favourite films.

YES I KNOW WHAT BLOCKBUSTERS IS: ~I was on" — *THIS* IS THE OH-SO-CASUALLY DROPPED FACT I WANTED DISH ON.

Evil Dead 3 = Army of Darkness Chick with tree = Evil Dead 1, although it was tried again to a lesser extent in Evil Dead 2.

Oh! Oops!!! I was just on, as part of a team of two. The people who look for contestants just came to my school and they picked me and this girl I'd never met before for an audition. Unfortunately, the series ended before we could really get anywhere, which sucked. I wanted to win a holiday to Egypt or something. I still have my dictionary and sweatshirt though. And Bob Holness' autograph. They also put us up in a fancy hotel too, between filming five shows a day.

Thinking back, it would have been awful to have won a holiday and then had to go with someone I barely knew, though...

The Evil Dead reference in High Fidelity has strait up. The only thing is that he says it has a great sound track, and I an't remember any music in it all. Great sound effects though-I always wanted the horn on my car to make that sound the evil dead makes when it is approaching!

Did you ask for a P please, Bob?

From Trivial Pursuit: Q: where did the Wright Brothers make their historic first flight? A: Kitty Hawk, North Carolina

WRONG wrong wrong. If you've ever actually been there, you know that their workshop and runway was in Kill Devil Hills, about 12 miles away from the population center of Kitty Hawk - either Orville or Wilbur is reported to have shouted from the plane "I'll make it all the way to Kitty Hawk!" which he did not, coming up about 11 miles short.

Bob holness played james bond on the radio, so is also a trivial pursuit answer

The classic Q:'Whose catchphrase was "Beam me up, Scotty"?' A: Captain Kirk.
He never said it! Same goes for Q:'Whose catchphrase was "Elementary, my dear Watson"?'

I think DG posted that last one to the wrong thread

That's the beauty of it, it works on both.
