having had first-hand experience of the assholeness of women in similar situations, can i derail this thread with the question:

Is is possible to break up with someone, no matter how fairly and sensitively and how much better for the both of you it is, without being seen by them as being an asshole?

i guess it all depends on intent. if a person forms a relationship with intent to harm, then i suppose they are much more of an asshole than one who forges the relationship because of actual feelings.
