Eating cookie dough: C/D

Chocolate chip, in particular is very much classic.

There is that classic Simpons episode where Homer is stiting on the couch eating the dough out of the tube. I never knew people did that but once I tried it for myself, I couldn't believe I'd been missing out. Recently, Evil Corporate America has made the process of engorging on dough much easier, less messy, and more stealthy.

I love how the Q&A gives the official company line of "don't eat our dough until you cook it."

With this packaging you can break off pre-sized chunks and wolf them down without even shutting the refrigerator door; the ziplock bag was the key to this. Plus, you can take a pull off the milk jug if no one else is home and eliminate the need for a glass. Brilliant.

I've never been high and eaten this cookie dough but I'm pretty sure it would be better than crack in that situation. The gluttony when sober is astounding.

You simply have to try this out over the holidays.

don weiner, Saturday, 20 December 2003 18:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Our school just had a cookie dough sale. The cookie dough is in the refigerator right now. Do I dare?

Aja (aja), Saturday, 20 December 2003 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Classic. Was there ever any debate about this?

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 20 December 2003 18:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I always thought it was dangerous.

Aja (aja), Saturday, 20 December 2003 18:46 (twenty-two years ago)

theoretically it's dangerous since you're not supposed to eat anything containing raw eggs (and raw flour isn't supposed to be great either due to the possibility of worm eggs hatching in your tum) but WHATEVER, CLASSIC!!!! and classicker the higher you are.

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 20 December 2003 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

go for the chococolate chips AND CHUNKS ready-to-bake, or the peanut butter cup version that has tiny peanut butter cups mixed in with the chocolate chips and chunks.

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 20 December 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Peanut butter cups are like tiny messages from Satan to inform you of just how nasty hell is.

Aja (aja), Saturday, 20 December 2003 18:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I have eaten half a tube at a sitting before.

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 20 December 2003 19:01 (twenty-two years ago)

We eat it all the time. There is nothing like cracking open one of those bright blue Pillsbury dough sausages and gorging yourself on the stickiness.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 20 December 2003 19:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not one to judge my friends' behavior with regards to things they put in their mouth as I used to eat live insects in high school, but I will say that I have been kind of horrified by the following:

1. Eating Polska Kielbasa out of the plastic packaging
2. Eating cookie dough out of the plastic packaging (he just kind of poked a big hole in one end and squeexed it into his mouth, it was needlessly off-putting (he was a former pothead, yes)
3. Eating a cooked hamburger patty cold out of the fridge from a barbecue the day before

I think #3 is the winner as far as sheer "how do you live with yourself" disgust, and it's easily the healthiest of the three (depends on how clean the fridge is I guess).

The salmonella danger is overrated, I think, and nobody ever dies from that shit anymore anyway.

TOMBOT, Saturday, 20 December 2003 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

oh yeah frozen (as opposed to merely refrigerated) dough is U&K.

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 20 December 2003 19:05 (twenty-two years ago)

quite a damnation of Reeses' Inc. !

Mike Hanle y (mike), Saturday, 20 December 2003 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Aja, prior to my original posting I had eaten a half dozen bites right out of the tub that I bought from my niece for some fundraiser. It was as good as I knew it would be.

Nobody gets salmonella from eating something like this. That's just standard claim crap that companies put out to avoid getting sued.

I would also add that this stuff is awesome when, having gluttonously overeaten/overdrank at a holiday party, you come home and take several hits as a nightcap.

You always, always, always have room for cookie dough no matter how full you are.

And I think it might be physically impossible to just eat one bite.

don weiner, Saturday, 20 December 2003 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I love cookies and the ones you get in this country are so rub (are there any good cookies you can get in london?). I've never seen cookie dough being sold here.

I envy you all.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 20 December 2003 20:06 (twenty-two years ago)

SO CLASSIC (although I haven't had the Pillsbury stuff).

Do ice cream companies that make cookie dough ice cream do something do it that makes it okay to advocate eating it? Or is there fine print that I've never noticed saying "We do not recommend eating the cookie dough in our Cookie Dough Ice Cream"?

Jordan (Jordan), Saturday, 20 December 2003 21:03 (twenty-two years ago)

sooooo classic. i've been eating it for years and never felt sick. except for the whole thing that it expands when heated (an oven, your body) which can be a bit rough.

will definitely be consuming loads of this while home!

colette (a2lette), Saturday, 20 December 2003 21:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Totally 100% classic

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Sunday, 21 December 2003 06:42 (twenty-two years ago)

100% Dud.
Wait for the cookies.

Orbit (Orbit), Sunday, 21 December 2003 06:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Dud if done by a girl. Otherwise, total classic.

may pang (maypang), Sunday, 21 December 2003 06:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Dud if done by a girl. Otherwise, total classic.

*cries* I'm dud.

jewelly (jewelly), Sunday, 21 December 2003 07:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Double dud if you do it while wearing sweatpants.

may pang (maypang), Sunday, 21 December 2003 07:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I fail to see how girls eating dough can be anything but wonderful, unless the girls eat all your dough and there can be no cookies.

Note that the Pillsbury stuff linked uses pasteurized eggs to mitigate the risk of salmonella. No doubt Teeny's worms are still ready to pounce though.

Paul Eater (eater), Sunday, 21 December 2003 07:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Classic in moderation. Eating more than a few big chunks tends to make me feel very, very ill.

Ian Johnson (orion), Sunday, 21 December 2003 07:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Double dud if you do it while wearing sweatpants.

I only do that when I have the trailer home to myself.

jewelly (jewelly), Sunday, 21 December 2003 07:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Guess I'm dud, too. We can be dud together, jewelly.

luna (luna.c), Sunday, 21 December 2003 07:30 (twenty-two years ago)

The Dud Sisters. We'll sell film rights to our story, etc. Winona Ryder can play one of since she's dud as hell now.

jewelly (jewelly), Sunday, 21 December 2003 07:34 (twenty-two years ago)

"The Double-D's" might sell better.

may pang (maypang), Sunday, 21 December 2003 07:42 (twenty-two years ago)

You might be on to something...

luna (luna.c), Sunday, 21 December 2003 07:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Winona Ryder will NEVER be dud.

Ian Johnson (orion), Sunday, 21 December 2003 07:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm just glad jewelly came back.

TOMBOT, Sunday, 21 December 2003 08:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Me too.

luna (luna.c), Sunday, 21 December 2003 08:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Me three.

Cookie dough ice cream is unarguably classic, but when making cookies I want to have as many of them as possible, so the only dough I eat is what's left on the blender whisk thingees or spoon.

oops (Oops), Sunday, 21 December 2003 10:39 (twenty-two years ago)

and girls who eat cookie dough in jogging pants are so classic.

oops (Oops), Sunday, 21 December 2003 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

classic without question.

although i prefer sugar cookie dough to chocolate chip, because after a while eating so much chocolate tends to make me sick quicker than simply eating raw cookie dough can make me sick.

the best way to do this obv. is to get one of those pillsbury (or nestle or whatever) rolls, peel of the wrapping, place the roll on a plate, cut it in 1/2 inch slices as though it were a sausage, and then serve it to friends with glasses of cold milk.

amateur!st (amateurist), Sunday, 21 December 2003 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

also yeah winona is if anything less dud post-arrest.

amateur!st (amateurist), Sunday, 21 December 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Julio: they have it in Sainsbury's! Somewhere in the baking-goods section, little plastic tubs. A girl I knew used to put it in the microwave for a minute or so, so the chocolate chips started to melt, and then eat it out of the tub.

I keep trying to make cookies, and the baked version never tastes as good as the dough did. :(

cis (cis), Sunday, 21 December 2003 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

thank you cis! I'll have to check it out.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 21 December 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

also yeah winona is if anything less dud post-arrest.

But that's just cuz she hasn't come out with any more of her cringe-inducingly crappy movies yet post-arrest, eh?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 22 December 2003 12:27 (twenty-two years ago)

You ALL smoke way too much fucking weed.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 22 December 2003 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

That should read 'i've NEVER eaten cookie dough..' *slaps forehead*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 22 December 2003 15:08 (twenty-two years ago)

teeny (teeny), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 19:36 (twenty years ago)

Last night I had cookie dough (and a beer)... I'm also a stereotype of something or another.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Monday, 15 August 2005 15:42 (twenty years ago)

I AM AN ENORMOUS PREGNANT STEREOTYPE

hahaha

Mr Teeny should bust out the camera whenever he catches you in such sitcom-like behavior, and upload all the pics into a gallery online somewhere
