It is, especially with CT's version of CBGB's (Hanover House) having boarded up a couple years back. I miss my music scene. =/

Aw, but there's still Toad's Place! And the Webster Theatre!

Also, driving to Boston isn't THAT bad. (cough) And, actually, driving to Easthampton is a cake, too.

For the record, my heart broke back when the Secret Theatre stopped hosting shows. And the Tune Inn went buh-bye. And and and and.

>>Aw, but there's still Toad's Place! And the Webster Theatre!<<

Yea, but there's always some sort of physical attachment I'll have to those dives.

>>And the Tune Inn went buh-bye.<<

I realized I forgot this one too. What I thought was saddest is that even its farewell show had to be completely changed (was going to be Nashville Pussy, then they backed out near last minute).

Oh, how I long for justanotherscene.com and the other now dead pages that listed shows...:cries:

Um, I think justanotherscene.com is still kicking. I was just there a couple of days ago! (Or did it JUST die?)

And, gosh, wouldn't it be nice if Toad's Place updated their intro promo website blurb to do something else besides pop a woody about the Stones playing there 13 years ago:

"Toad's place remains a favorite venue for many of the megastars when they wish to perform in a smaller, more intimate atmosphere where they can be closer to their fans. For this very reason, The Rolling Stones chose to kick off their 1989 'Steel Wheels' tour at Toad's Place!"

The El 'N Gee is closing?? As if there wasn't enough going on in New London before...

Did anyone see that A&E special on the Southeastern CT murder involving wifeswapping lawyers and a male exotic dancer? It was very funny to see such a tabloid look at the area where I grew up. Blueblood vs. blue collar! Class war! They showed the house I grew up in a few times--apparently I'm very posh. Except the house is in Groton, not Old Lyme as a drunk-sounding Paul Winfield reported on the voiceover.

I used to sneak into the El 'n' Gee when I was in high school. I'm glad it lasted this long.
