Spelling mistakes: correct them or suffer nobly

OK I just wrote an email that was supposed to be funny and then I noticed a spelling mistake after I sent it. I didn't write back to correct it because I thought that would be undignified but I find that's often a problem on the internet, eg on message boards or in emails - the potential to quickly write back and correct your spelling mistake is there but I don't know whether to use it or not.

I dislike people who correct their mispellings and other typos (unless there's a genuine confusion over meaning stemming from the mistake). It's prissy and (as Amity said) undignified. If you're so concerned about it why not just get it right in the first place (it isn't that hard...just be a bit more careful for a start and then take an extra 20 seconds to check for errors before submitting).

I don't do it. It's annoying if the post was a sparkling bon mot but better to be wrong than pedantic.

It is very entertaining when you catch moderators doing it in the Admin Log.
