Happy Holidays, everyone.

Happiness on Xmas, for me, is drinking 3 big-ass Manhattans (even thought you have to work in the morning) because you thought you were out of beer, and then when you're making the fourth, you put the Angostura back in the fridge, and lo and behold, A Bottle Of Becks!! God bless us, every one.

I've been sick for a few days, but I'm drinking some red wine (it's good for you!), just finished listening to the first Roxy Music, and just put on the first The The, and am feeling ok. Isolated and alone, sure, but ok.

I was going to answer the titular poser with a reference to the fact that various relatives and surrogate relatives have worked hard to ensure that my mother and I had a happy Christmas this year, but I suppose maybe it's too late in the progression of the thread to respond in that manner... ?

Happiness this Xmas was when my little hyperactive cousin jumped in my arms and *screamed in my face* "Jeannie I love you!" I almost cried. Instead, I screamed right back in his face. Oh the love.

Christmas was bliss this year: realizing that I have the love and respect of the greatest kids in the world, my wife and I deciding NOT to move after all probably so we can just fucking RELAX, getting a PS2 so I can geek the hell OUT all the time; even locking ourselves out of our house and having to pay some dude $80 and then realizing later that our kitchen window was unlatched and I probably could have climbed in only eviscerating myself a tiny little bit... it was ALL classick. Dayum I'm getting all sentimental.

And yeah Jeanne I got huge hugs from my little 4-y-o hyperactive niece in the airport when I went to go pick them up, and she was all like, "Daddy! Poke Uncle Matt in the ass!", so my bro-in-law goosed me, in front of all these Wisconsin Disapproving Lutheran types. Ahh good times et cetera.

Teeny mine is a ghetto-ass jigsaw puzzle I got for a buck at Walgreen's. It doesn't even have the complete picture on the front!

I'm glad others experienced Christmas happiness, BTW. :)

And to elaborate -- yesterday, the most fun I had was when I went to my "extended family"'s place (so I got to see my surrogate big and little brothers!) and they had a karaoke machine, so we were all singing karaoke and sipping beverages (alcoholic or non-alcoholic, depending on one's preference). It was an excellent quicker cheerer-upper. So was also discovering that there are people in Mom's side of the family who are decent, sweet, grand individuals! Hurrah!
