did anyone see this? It was on yesterday morning on ITV1, but I think it was a repeat.

MarkH (MarkH), Saturday, 27 December 2003 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

parts of it were hilarious! Especially the Polish judge who was perhaps trying a little too hard to out-Cowell Cowell.

MarkH (MarkH), Saturday, 27 December 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I have had bronchitis and missed this (and every other bit of christmas fun). :(

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Saturday, 27 December 2003 17:16 (twenty-two years ago)

i had the flu and was forced to watch it.
i'd like to apologize on behalf of canada.

dyson (dyson), Saturday, 27 December 2003 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha! It was really entertaining. The German idol was the funniest.

phil-two (phil-two), Saturday, 27 December 2003 20:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Which one was that?

Aja (aja), Saturday, 27 December 2003 20:29 (twenty-two years ago)

the gay guy who sang "what a feeling".

phil-two (phil-two), Saturday, 27 December 2003 20:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh.

Aja (aja), Saturday, 27 December 2003 20:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Ohmygodohmygodohmygod! Do you mean to say you didn't organise your day around this televisual event? I did, and I am not at all ashamed.

He sang Maniac! (Oh, if only he'd worn an Elvira inspired, Flashdance inspired outfit). The Polish judge was insane! So was the Polish entrant! Will didn't care! Go the Fro!

I haven't been this excited since Eurovision.

Miss Marianna, Saturday, 27 December 2003 22:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Who sang the Nirvana song? I was shocked by that.

Aja (aja), Saturday, 27 December 2003 23:01 (twenty-two years ago)

His name was Peter Evrard. He was from Belgium. He was six fingers of rawk.

Miss Marianna, Saturday, 27 December 2003 23:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Huh?

Aja (aja), Saturday, 27 December 2003 23:05 (twenty-two years ago)

he rawked her werld¡

dyson (dyson), Sunday, 28 December 2003 08:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I am supporting the Hobbit, natch. I can't work out if the Australian judge's hair is real or not. NOBODY would wear a wig like that... would they?

Madchen (Madchen), Sunday, 28 December 2003 09:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I missed all the good ones :[

South African Idol gave me new respect for Steve Tyler's singing talents, which is really saying something.

petra jane (petra jane), Sunday, 28 December 2003 09:58 (twenty-two years ago)

That Norwegian bloke who sang the U2 song was quite good. And if the South African had picked a different song he could've been excellent. The rest were pretty shoddy, but I agree the German was hilarious.

James Ball (James Ball), Sunday, 28 December 2003 11:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Hats off to Will who managed to sound just as bad as Morrison.

regards,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Monday, 29 December 2003 03:33 (twenty-two years ago)

we've got to wait to New Year's Day for the results.

the frustrating thing is that the Pan Arab entrant was by far the best singer, but as she sang an Arabic song she stands no chance of winning.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 29 December 2003 10:32 (twenty-two years ago)

she did an original song too didn't she¿

dyson (dyson), Monday, 29 December 2003 15:24 (twenty-two years ago)

The guy that did the U2 song will win, I reckon.

Second oh I dont care.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

ARGH I MISSED THIS

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Why is Sean C. calling himself "Ryan Malcolm" for World Idol?

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 2 January 2004 02:10 (twenty-two years ago)

This thread is like a beautiful arcane alphabet that I don't understand but am fascinated by.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 2 January 2004 02:20 (twenty-two years ago)

This is why you should have a tv Ned, you don't want to miss Posh Spice singing trashy Kylie-lite pop.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 2 January 2004 02:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I hope the Hobbit wins!

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 2 January 2004 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I wonder what Geir would think of this.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 2 January 2004 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I loved how put-out Kelly Clarkson looked when she saw she was going to lose! I suppose she thought she was going to have the title of World Idol handed to her.

This is all a plot to get me to buy the SpiceWorld DVD, isn't it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 2 January 2004 04:47 (twenty-two years ago)

There is no good excuse for you not to own this.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 2 January 2004 05:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I await a tenth anniversary special edition with commentary from all five.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 2 January 2004 05:10 (twenty-two years ago)

(Although the idea of buying a group's promo movie while owning nothing else by the group in question is perversely interesting.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 2 January 2004 05:11 (twenty-two years ago)

That is just...a tragedy. No home should be without Spice.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 2 January 2004 05:24 (twenty-two years ago)

The only thing I ever really actively liked about them was the arrangement of "2 Become 1" and that was more of a 'oh, that's okay' thought.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 2 January 2004 05:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I like the fact that although the ludicrous German singer got really poor marks from the rest of the world he was inexplicably the most popular singer in the Arab countries.

Respect to the hobbit.

James Ball (James Ball), Friday, 2 January 2004 09:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, he looked like he just got an unexpected christmas prezzie...

I'd told my family that hobfeatures was the best one by far, and they were amazed by my vision....

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 2 January 2004 10:04 (twenty-two years ago)

That made my night. hahahhahahahahaha her face was a like "but but but i'm so pretty!!!!

aw. and that ugly norwegian bloke won, it warms my heart. what a voice.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 2 January 2004 11:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Will went from 'heyyyy' to 'whatever' facewise...

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 2 January 2004 11:36 (twenty-two years ago)

the nirvana bloke looked disappointed too! I think he thought he had a chance.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 2 January 2004 11:49 (twenty-two years ago)

well he came third i think, didnt he? I was confused once i actually heard the Norwegian for the fist time at the end of thre show. He was crap.

jed (jed_e_3), Friday, 2 January 2004 14:27 (twenty-two years ago)

So much for Kelly Clarkson's "I'm just a humble gal from Texas" act. Jeez, could she have been any less gracious? No, America, you CAN'T have everything. I have to say, though, that the results from some of the other countries were baffling. Why is that German guy so popular?

Kerry (dymaxia), Friday, 2 January 2004 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

You mean the poster boy for the aryan nation--the dude from South Africa? I have no idea. But mad props for Kurt. That ruled.

cybele (cybele), Friday, 2 January 2004 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah I kept thinking that south african dude was german too - prolly cos he LOOKS german, and his name was Heinz!!!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 2 January 2004 16:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Kurt was about as winsome as winsome could be. I want to be his friend or something!
