Recommend me some good PS1 games

I've got a PS2 and I'm kinda bored with the games I have now, but I can't quite afford and/or have little interest in most of the recent releases out now. Also considering I never got a Playstation until late '01, I'm guessing I missed out on a ton of cool shit. I've got the first two games in the Gran Turismo series and am a big dork for racing games in general. I also have Bushido Blade 2, which I like even though I am total ass at most fighting games. I suppose I'd be open to RPGs. Not sure what to think of stealth games like the Metal Gear series, though.

Metal Gear looks the absolute bollocks and is obviously really cool, but I can never be arsed to do anything more than the virtual practice missions.

Hmmm, I don't know since Metal Gear and Final Fantasy VII are my favorite games evah (apart from some Nintendo and Super Nintendo games).

The Resident Evil games are pretty great too.

Fifa 2000.

Don't buy any of those Olympics games that just involve hitting the buttons as fast as possible.

Final Fantasy 7 dude.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 4 January 2004 17:43 (twenty years ago) link

good call on Rage racer - that's a winner, I played that for ages when I first got my PS2.

There's a really god tank game too, called Panzer something or other and is oneof the most atmospheric games I've ever played.

chris (chris), Sunday, 4 January 2004 17:50 (twenty years ago) link

Wipeout 2097 is Wipeout XL in the states.

If you like platform/collecting games, the Crash and Spyro series are without equal.

FF7, Metal Gear, the first Tomb Raider seconded. I played through Resident Evil 2 over christmas: it still hold up pretty well.

Tico: I thought Harvest Moon was the most evil game ever made. Which is not to say that it was bad at what it did, just that what it did was cause me to spend hours accomplishing nothing! Er, a different quality of nothing than every other game, that is.
