AHH: i just noticed I AM gaz at the top of ther page...is that new?

Yeah, I've got something similar. Must be some sorta fun new tweak, but what?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 4 January 2004 05:47 (twenty years ago) link

I AM Orbit

Orbit (Orbit), Sunday, 4 January 2004 05:49 (twenty years ago) link

i have been told i'm intimidating.
i think i'm pretty fluffy so i never understood it.
maybe i need to flash my tits more, to throw 'em off

Orbit (Orbit), Sunday, 4 January 2004 05:55 (twenty years ago) link

This isn't a problem, but a feature request: would it be possible for when you go to the main ILX page, it say something like "Hello, (username)!" so that you know what name you're logged in on? This would be particularly helpful for 2 ILXor households like ours, where I have to log out of Sarah's name before I login as me. Currently I can't find out who's logged in until I open a thread and scroll to the bottom.
SHOUT FOR THE MODERATOR VI

First person to register the name "Canadian" gets 10 points.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 4 January 2004 05:57 (twenty years ago) link

This is handy, as the other Neds in my apartment now know which Ned is logged in at any given time.

*rethinks this statement*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 4 January 2004 05:58 (twenty years ago) link

it's kind of comforting to see that, all caps at the top, just in case i forget who i am
;-)

Orbit (Orbit), Sunday, 4 January 2004 05:59 (twenty years ago) link

and yeah I need to fix it so it doesn't look so stupid but its Friday night and Im tired.
Up next, Kate's red number crusher button thingy.
Thats if I don't get distracted by something else thats breaking like the edituserinfo page or the general asshatry.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 4 January 2004 06:01 (twenty years ago) link

I was going to make it like Dr Zeus.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 4 January 2004 06:01 (twenty years ago) link

Mr Noodles, you rock. Thanks for the added customization feature thingy!

And keeping in mind the original topic at hand:

One of my high school classmates signed my junior-year yearbook by describing me as "verbose".

Bitch.

Tenacious Dee (Dee the Lurker), Sunday, 4 January 2004 06:03 (twenty years ago) link

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 4 January 2004 06:37 (twenty years ago) link

orbit, cleavage can be pretty intimidating i find.

(its always hearing "o that guy just talks to my tits" and then thinking "i don't do that, do i?" and then encountering cleavage and...and...and...)

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 4 January 2004 06:45 (twenty years ago) link

haha!
i shall continue to keep the twins under wraps.

Orbit (Orbit), Sunday, 4 January 2004 06:48 (twenty years ago) link

I have an interesting laugh. (If you've heard Dylan cracking up at the beginning of "Bob Dylan's 115th Dream", you have a good approximation.)

nate detritus (natedetritus), Sunday, 4 January 2004 06:50 (twenty years ago) link

Hahah this new I AM thing results in threads that look like this:

Oh. Dear.

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 4 January 2004 06:52 (twenty years ago) link

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 4 January 2004 18:56 (twenty years ago) link

I'm right-wing. This idea had never occurred to me until someone told me last night. I don't think it's true, but it's a lot more true than I realised.
Also, that I say 'like' all the time. This is very irritating.

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 5 January 2004 13:09 (twenty years ago) link

Someone at the last FAP pointed out that I'm good at pissing people off. Which I hadn't really thought about.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 5 January 2004 13:13 (twenty years ago) link

Apparently I am "flighty."

Oh, and i've got one friend who just introduces me as his Weird Friend.

What the fuck does that mean, weird? Because I have no idea what it is that makes me weird. I watch Buffy, I like music, I read books, I post silly things on ILx. what the fuck? how does this make me different than say the six million other users here? Besides the liking Buffy part.

Catty (Catty), Monday, 5 January 2004 13:16 (twenty years ago) link

apparently, i'm an unusually considerate ex-girlfriend. (which was nice to hear)

and i'm scary. but i've been told that enough at this point that i guess i just kinda know it. even though i don't understand it.

colette (a2lette), Monday, 5 January 2004 13:20 (twenty years ago) link

Does cleavage serve some other purpose aside from attracting attention I'm unaware of? I mean you have to buy a special bra and everything, so maybe it does

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 5 January 2004 13:25 (twenty years ago) link

I mean obv just staring at it in "conversation" is atrociously rude, but y'know it's not very surprising, I suppose. I don't do it but I DO read shirts a lot

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 5 January 2004 13:33 (twenty years ago) link

Shirts about breasts?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 5 January 2004 13:37 (twenty years ago) link

I didn't know that I sing under my breath. At work. Constantly. Apparently.

(Hi and happy new year by the way. No posts for nearly three weeks, what have I been DOING?!)

Archel (Archel), Monday, 5 January 2004 13:40 (twenty years ago) link

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 5 January 2004 14:55 (twenty years ago) link

I am so clueless.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Tuesday, 6 January 2004 00:32 (twenty years ago) link

I would like to archive a knife into their hearts.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 6 January 2004 00:32 (twenty years ago) link

I'm still not sure what Type A means even after it's been explained to me, so I like imagining it as this descriptive term that everyone applies to themselves at various points as needed. It's somehow protean.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 00:34 (twenty years ago) link

- how are ya Ned? -

- type A today gaz, type A! -

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 00:36 (twenty years ago) link

See, I could imagine saying that! But I could imagine anyone saying that and me going, "Oh, that's nice." It's like that whole Meyers-Brigg thing.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 00:37 (twenty years ago) link

Type A = hippies and badly fitting pants drive you insane

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 6 January 2004 00:53 (twenty years ago) link

OMG - I think I'm dating a type A.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 00:59 (twenty years ago) link

I had no idea that the back of my head went down my to my neck in a straight line, like Dan Dare, until someone told me.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 01:07 (twenty years ago) link

79% type A. surprise surprise surprise. though that's kinda low for my line of work.

Assholebär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 01:14 (twenty years ago) link

i bounce up and down as i walk

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 01:31 (twenty years ago) link

apparently I flirt with people without knowing it.

M Matos (M Matos), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 01:35 (twenty years ago) link

I thought hippies and badly fitting pants drove everyone insane?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 6 January 2004 01:56 (twenty years ago) link

Hating hippies is not a sign of Type A personality so much as a sign of having a sense of smell.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 02:25 (twenty years ago) link

Once a horrible sleazy guy at an IRC meet told me I puffed my cheeks out whenever I drank liquid. ie take a sip of whatever, fill cheeks up with it, then swallow. I guess I subconciously knew I did this but no one ever pointed at me and said "you fucking freak" about it.

I was also informed by my first bf that I "walk like a duck". I've been paranoid about my gait ever since. Thats a bunch, Tony.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 02:28 (twenty years ago) link

Trayce, I think ducks have a very nice walk.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 02:34 (twenty years ago) link

Hippies are often wearing badly fitting pants.

No one ever tells me things about me. Except "you have food on your upper lip" and so on.

isadora (isadora), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 02:34 (twenty years ago) link

i didn't especially notice you had a strange walk trayce. nor this puffer fish thing either :)

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 02:45 (twenty years ago) link

I also run like a duck - always have, always will.

I am tall, so they say. I should have played basketball.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 02:48 (twenty years ago) link

Oh yeah, also I saw this pic of me from this summer over Christmas. I grabbed it up in horror. I'm all slouched over in it and look like crap. I asked my youngest sister (she's 21), "I don't really look like this do I???" making sure she was aware of the answer I wnted. Instead, she replied, "Oh, yes, that looks exactly like you. You really should try to sit up straighter."

Ok, thanks, now I know I look like crap all the time, beeooowtch. ha ha

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 02:51 (twenty years ago) link

OMG I just scored 100% on the type A quiz. I guess this explains why I'm still at fucking work at 10pm AT A JOB I QUIT TWO WEEKS AGO.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 6 January 2004 02:53 (twenty years ago) link

I smoke like an old woman.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 03:06 (twenty years ago) link

strange grabbing movements with my hand when im tring to formulate a thought (in speech) as if im physically trying to grasp it.

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 05:05 (twenty years ago) link

puffer fish thing, hahaha!

Apparently my gait (ie being knock-kneed and pigeon-toed) is a good way to get a Marilyn sexy-bum swagger (for, 'twas she who had knock knees also thus her cute wobble-butt walk), No wonder guys say I have a nice arse.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 05:09 (twenty years ago) link

she shaved 2 inches off one of her hi heel shoes to amplify that walk btw

Orbit (Orbit), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 06:18 (twenty years ago) link

that is the worst photo ever taken of me! also, i have a really strong southern accent.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 10:10 (twenty years ago) link

I'm really cool.

This told to me by an old friend who I confessed my crush on to today and was told along with "maybe three years ago things would have been different" and anyway I'm still thinking of her smile, her gait, all tha little things that make me want to eat her right up. Also, I want to call her "captain, my captain" fwiw. (not in a kinky way either)

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 10:25 (twenty years ago) link

I stick my tongue out when I am putting a mouthful of food in there. I have tried to curb this one.
Also, apparently I have green eyes even though they have been blue for the last 27 years!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 12:26 (twenty years ago) link

I apparently have good skin. I think people who say this are crazy, but a few people have said this so .... (My mom: "When did your complexion get so good? Oh, I guess you got old")

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 15:07 (twenty years ago) link

someone just called and told me that when my hair is dark, i look like the girl in shakespeare's sister that isn't in bananarama.

i'm researching this to see if this is a compliment or insult.

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 16:15 (twenty years ago) link

I'm an asshole apparently, and arrogant/snobbish as well.

I have beautiful eyelashes that several ex-girlfriends have been bitterly jealous of.

When I used to smoke, I smoked like a girl and held my cigarettes too high.

webcrack (music=crack), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 16:19 (twenty years ago) link

Colette, it's a compliment. Though however well-meant, you do not look like Siobhan Fahey. You look better than that, she is a bit ropey and Pam Hogg-looking now.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 16:23 (twenty years ago) link

Suzy, I think they meant Marcella Detroit, i.e. the one who isn't in Bananarama. I don't think that's an insult either.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 16:31 (twenty years ago) link

i think he meant the detroit one as well. but all the pictures online are fuzzy or her hair is covering her face.

and since i'd never heard of her (or the band) i guess that ruins my potential career as a celeb impersonator!

and as long as we're allowed to disagree with people, mr. crack you're more of an elitist, surely?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 16:49 (twenty years ago) link

actually, there may be a market for vaguely familiar, but unplaceable celebrity lookalikes. because that would only heighten the versimilitude!

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 16:50 (twenty years ago) link

(insert an I somewhere)

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 16:50 (twenty years ago) link

and as long as we're allowed to disagree with people, mr. crack you're more of an elitist, surely?

That does tend to sum it up, doesn't it? Though I like to think that my elitist tendencies have dimmed to a certain extent.

webcrack (music=crack), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 16:53 (twenty years ago) link

well, huck, if you ever find details of that market, let me know. people are always saying, 'you look like that one girl. you know, from that show/band/movie'. usually they mean someone that had a bit part on 'saved by the bell' or something.

but if i could make money off of their confusion, that would rock!

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 17:00 (twenty years ago) link

i walk like a penguin.
