mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 19 January 2004 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

mine started shabbily, improved a little bit, got heaps heaps worse, then vaguely stabilised.

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 19 January 2004 02:44 (twenty-two years ago)

i have shitloads of work to do that i have no clue about.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 19 January 2004 02:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, it's 2:48am here. Is that morning? I've just finished an article for Stylus, anyway, and have drank so much Diet Coke I'm probably not getting any sleep tonight. The cleaners come round at 10 as well.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 19 January 2004 02:48 (twenty-two years ago)

i fight the night

stevem (blueski), Monday, 19 January 2004 02:49 (twenty-two years ago)

And the night won?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 19 January 2004 02:49 (twenty-two years ago)

the good thing about being at work is it helps me forget exactly how depressed i am

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 19 January 2004 02:50 (twenty-two years ago)

RU KIDDING??!?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 19 January 2004 02:53 (twenty-two years ago)

no, unfortunately. if i was at home i would be drunk and stubbing out cigarettes on my arms

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 19 January 2004 02:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I am sitting here staring at Futurama websites and waiting for Nick to show up at my work cuz I left my painkillers at home (shoulder is playing up), I have work to do but it is boring, easy and I cant be fucked. I really should not be in this job anymore but I dont know anything else well enough to afford to quit.

Blah blah whine etc.

PS Jim if yr that bad FFS come over after work and watch DVDs with us or something :P

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 19 January 2004 02:59 (twenty-two years ago)

oh i'll be fine when i get home. i just had a bad night and needed to be away from home and booze

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 19 January 2004 02:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Totally understand that, mang.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 19 January 2004 03:00 (twenty-two years ago)

here , entitled reference librarian, is my work life, captured in song.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 19 January 2004 03:06 (twenty-two years ago)

very dreary...?@it was snowing a wet snow in Tokyo a few days ago... now it is raining... cold and windy... i'll be on a train out of the city in a short while... too bad i have to be back sometime this evening when it will be colder and wetter

‚¥‚ñ‚š (lenz), Monday, 19 January 2004 03:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I have the day off tomorrow. i'm working saturday though so its not all good.

Ed (dali), Monday, 19 January 2004 03:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Ow. Ow and Jesus and ow. In that order.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 19 January 2004 09:11 (twenty-two years ago)

i developed a cold yesterday after spending saturday night drinking vodka and grapefruit juice [so much for the vitamin c treatment...grumble...] & had to get up at 10 to seven for a job that ended up not happening. neato.

petra jane (petra jane), Monday, 19 January 2004 09:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, I always feel great Monday morning. By Monday afternoon the novelty is wearing thin; Tuesday is the killer.

Johnney B (Johnney B), Monday, 19 January 2004 10:18 (twenty-two years ago)

hehehe, i like trying to work out which europeans were up at a silly time ;)

i've done abso-fucking-lutely nothing of use this morning, as there is no one else in my ofice, hurrah!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 19 January 2004 11:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I have already spent the morning arranging to meet the author I'm interviewing in-between arguing about Lost in Translation.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 19 January 2004 11:43 (twenty-two years ago)

It's almost 4:30am here. We have new curtains.

the icebox (nordicskilla), Monday, 19 January 2004 12:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been cataloguing German grammar books and arguing with coworkers about films (apparently I like too many 'weird, ironic actors' and should watch Braveheart). I feel more chirpy than I usually do, probably because after yesterday morning it's such a relief to wake up without a hangover. Now I'm about to get on a bus and hand in my first term paper at t'other university.

Archel (Archel), Monday, 19 January 2004 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

The morning has passed pretty uneventfully. Gettin up this morning was a struggle though!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 19 January 2004 12:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Mine's been pretty much like Pinky's. My alarm (set for 7.40) didn't go of, and I woke up naturally at 9.14. One hour later I had showered, dressed, and commuted in record time and was 45 minutes late. Not great when the boss had to cover recpetion till I arrived.

(NB the boss is my dad which made it even worse. Fortunately he was in a good mood when I got in)

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 19 January 2004 12:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Does that make it easier or more difficult Mark? (dad being the boss i mean!)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Monday, 19 January 2004 12:33 (twenty-two years ago)

It makes it fine, Pinky. It's good in a way because I know I have to excel - I can't just mooch along doing the bare minimum. I want them to be really impressed with what I do, and need them to feel absolutely sure that if and when they promote me I'm entirely deserving of it.

Any favouritism they show me, or even appear to show me, could cause problems with the other members of staff, and I really don't want that to happen. If I ever become anything other than a boon to the company, things could go very wrong.

And personally I need this kind of motivation. I've slacked off too long. I want a successful career and bucketloads of ca$h, dammit!

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 19 January 2004 12:49 (twenty-two years ago)

woke up as usual, and it took me a full 10 minutes to remember that this is MLK Day, which i have off.

oops. Time to blow the day playing Kingdom Hearts, then.

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Monday, 19 January 2004 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I should get some sleep before I have to wake up.

the icebox (nordicskilla), Monday, 19 January 2004 13:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I drank a lot last night, so I woke up feeling kinda yucky.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Monday, 19 January 2004 14:54 (twenty-two years ago)

i went to bed at alf 4 and had to get up for alf 7 today. i feel unwell.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 19 January 2004 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Alarm went off at 6:30, I got up at 7:15 and said something about how I should have off for MLK. Showered and got to work by 8:00. It's now 9:00...one hour down, seven to go.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 19 January 2004 15:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Groggy and sleepy but advantageously today is a holiday. Rah!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 January 2004 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Woke up. Fell out of bed. Dragged a comb across my head. Found my way upstairs and had a cup, and somebody spoke that's when I went into a dream...

I have mad stinky gas this morning. Cornbread and black-eyed peas at approximately 2 am last night are likely to blame. Sitting at work on MLK Jr. Day trying not to think about how fucked up the world is right now. About to drink some coffee. Listening to Mr. Lif, really loving the song "Friends and Neighbors" which is far too short IMHO.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 19 January 2004 15:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Woke up. Fell out of bed. Dragged a comb across my head. Found my way upstairs and had a cup, and somebody spoke that's when I went into a dream...

I have mad stinky gas this morning.

If only Lennon had sung that last part instead.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 January 2004 15:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh God I'm hungover. I have vague recollections of my g/f pouring water over me in an effort to wake me up from the sofa where I'd passed out. I think there was much shouting and criticism. This is obv not a good thing.

Matt (Matt), Monday, 19 January 2004 15:33 (twenty-two years ago)

7 hours od sleep last night wasn't nearly enough.

dyson (dyson), Monday, 19 January 2004 15:46 (twenty-two years ago)

A charming image there Nick.

Actually managed to make it into office on time. Maybe I'm getting better at this two jobs, one life shit, or maybe it's just because I actually got some sleep at the weekend.

Spent this morning writing about the re-launch of Poppets into the £300 million bitesize chocolate market.

tweemu (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 19 January 2004 15:56 (twenty-two years ago)

**Bryan stops to think about how Anna and Jody are living his dream life...**

I was 55 minutes late for work today but they know I'm sick and can't really haul my ass down here very quickly. I thought about it over the weekend and while I was sick in bed last week and I think I do have to get a new job very soon. I'm kind of getting used to the pay which is very bad but it's not very good when you dread going to work everyday. A very valuable employee almost quit on us today and I had to talk her out of it. That was hard as I was tempted to just tell her to go ahead. Tough to be an accountant who has no stomach for business.

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 19 January 2004 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

jody - you have just described the best monday i could ever dream of having.

dyson (dyson), Monday, 19 January 2004 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Bryan, I swear I first read that as 'living in my dream life' and was .. surprised. And then I realised I was wrong and was ... less surprised.

Anna (Anna), Monday, 19 January 2004 16:14 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha just for you Anna *pfft*

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 19 January 2004 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Other than nightmares about being tortured and killed I can't remember having a dream for the last few months so maybe having you guys in my dreams would be a refreshing change.

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 19 January 2004 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Can't speak for Jody, but I lost my succubus-style powers a while back. It's down to your subconscious now. Sorry.

[studiously ignores Nickalicious]

Anna (Anna), Monday, 19 January 2004 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok but it's probably hopeless.

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 19 January 2004 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I think mine are still functional.

tweemu (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 19 January 2004 16:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Fly Jody! Fly!

Anna (Anna), Monday, 19 January 2004 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

*flaps arms*

tweemu (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 19 January 2004 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Mysterious!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 January 2004 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow! I just had a waking dream about chicken fried steak and perogies! Thanks succubus Jody!

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 19 January 2004 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

was it good for you?

tweemu (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 19 January 2004 17:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, it was better than dreaming of having Chechens cut my head off with a bowie knife so yes it was.

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 19 January 2004 17:19 (twenty-two years ago)

What if it was Hovitos set upon you by a French archaeologist who took your gold idol?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 January 2004 17:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't sleep soundly enough to dream myself into Indiana Jones death scenarios - UNTIL NOW. THANKS A LOT, NED!

Bryan (Bryan), Monday, 19 January 2004 17:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Woo!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 January 2004 17:23 (twenty-two years ago)

i slept through most of it. cocksucking flu.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 19 January 2004 17:25 (twenty-two years ago)

(the last line is my monday lunchtime gift to ilx.)

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 19 January 2004 17:25 (twenty-two years ago)

The method of infection sounds uncomfortable.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 January 2004 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

homophobe.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 19 January 2004 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

*cries*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 January 2004 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

"ned raggett: sensetive bigot"

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 19 January 2004 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Went to work, listened to music, read some articles, it was okay.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 19 January 2004 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

"ned raggett: sensetive bigot"

"I...am...a senstive biiiiigot..."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 January 2004 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Traffic this morning was beautiful. The radio reporter was happy too, it was like a satire: 66 all clear, moving right along on the inner loop, outer loop no delays, no accidents reported, etc. etc. I wish every day was a federal holiday. Training is moving along at a middling pace and I've been reading up on my information packet I got from the GW School of Engineering and Applied Science. I don't have to have references or take the GRE to apply for the GC program! Hooray me.

TOMBOT, Monday, 19 January 2004 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

My Monday morning:

Spray, spray, spray, spray.

Cough, cough, cough, cough.

Wait, wait, wait, wait.

Blot, blot, blot, blot.

Repeat until almost woozy.

In other words, I was cleaning spots off the carpet in the ground-floor room. Ah yes, the joys of home ownership. Ah yes, the joys of having a dog. But hey, it looks much better now.

As Sweet As Melody (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 19 January 2004 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I think you might have been doing whipits. Is your dog blue?

bnw (bnw), Monday, 19 January 2004 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha bnw I kiss you.

I have done JACK SHIT today. I am getting increasingly depressed by this. Oh wait I did dishes and sorted some laundry. Fuck me, I'm a suburban housewife. This isn't going to get any better, I fear. Classes start tomorrow but the thing is that I don't think it is enough classes at all. It pisses me off, I was forbidden to take more than four classes because it would be "too much" for my first semester going full time after a long break--but I was working 60+ hours a week and going half-time previously! Yes, I can see how 18 hours would be so much more stressful and lead to a nervous breakdown faster than my previous experience.

I'm pretty sure higher education is full of nothing but idiots. I'm looking at online class schedules this morning being very tempted to call in and add a class surrepticiously.

Allyzay, Monday, 19 January 2004 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm pretty sure higher education is full of nothing but idiots.

The percentage is depressingly high.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 January 2004 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I got up, made breakfast and lunch for Sarah, applied for a few jobs online, messed about online, got dressed, waited around for our new couch to come, sat on our new couch, ate some pop tarts, read some of Anna Karenin, played on the computer, applied for anothe job, made some spicy chick patties, watched more of Real Genius.
The END (?)

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 19 January 2004 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

No, the Ned.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 January 2004 19:30 (twenty-two years ago)

At 3am last night I double checked to see that, indeed, today is a holiday at my office. So that was a relief.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 19 January 2004 20:12 (twenty-two years ago)

slept through monday morning. no prob.

Viva La Sam (thatgirl), Monday, 19 January 2004 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Monday Morning was kinda crappy but the afternoon was more than redeemed by getting my copy of the International Telepaths CD in the mail. I'm a happy camper now.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 19 January 2004 23:10 (twenty-two years ago)

four years pass...

sooo not feeling it today.

tehresa, Monday, 11 August 2008 15:11 (seventeen years ago)

tired

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 August 2008 15:16 (seventeen years ago)

really

Ai Lien, Monday, 11 August 2008 15:18 (seventeen years ago)

couldn't sleep til after 3. now completely non-functional, even with coffee assist.

tehresa, Monday, 11 August 2008 15:19 (seventeen years ago)

For some reason, coffee and my stomach are behaving like life-long MMA rivals, and the rest of me is officially collateral damage.

FUCK YOU, MONDAY!

B.L.A.M., Monday, 11 August 2008 15:20 (seventeen years ago)

Glad for a short week at least (I'm off home Wednesday for a short vacation).

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 August 2008 15:20 (seventeen years ago)

Ned, you and I are in the same boat. Monday is a lot less shitty when it has less work week days to back itself up.

B.L.A.M., Monday, 11 August 2008 15:39 (seventeen years ago)

Yay us!

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 August 2008 15:42 (seventeen years ago)

i hate you both.

tehresa, Monday, 11 August 2008 15:47 (seventeen years ago)

well, Wednesday is actually quite a lot of work. In order to get to where we're going, the missus and I will be flying from Long Beach to NYC, then flying to Boston, then driving from Boston to some little town in Vermont, approx. 3 hours away.

If we're still married at the end of it all, I'll be amazed.

B.L.A.M., Monday, 11 August 2008 15:48 (seventeen years ago)

the missus and I will be flying from Long Beach to NYC, then flying to Boston

Uh? Doesn't JetBlue fly a direct Long Beach/Boston route?

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 August 2008 15:49 (seventeen years ago)

yo. cereal is really bland.

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Monday, 11 August 2008 15:49 (seventeen years ago)

i feel that a delicious breakfast sandwich might help this situation, but there was no time on my way in.

tehresa, Monday, 11 August 2008 15:54 (seventeen years ago)

The directs were hella expensive, too. We had a bunch of JetBlue miles racked up, but they only allow a certain number of free seats on each flight. We went low cost, high effort. Ugh.

B.L.A.M., Monday, 11 August 2008 17:14 (seventeen years ago)

i just had some soup, which was nice, but now i got nothin

Surmounter, Monday, 11 August 2008 17:16 (seventeen years ago)

I, too, would've loved a delicious breakfast sandwich. I do have some homemade curry to look forward to at lunch, though.

kate78, Monday, 11 August 2008 17:19 (seventeen years ago)

ugh now the cleaning lady's products are giving me a headache :(

tehresa, Monday, 11 August 2008 19:21 (seventeen years ago)

They're painting at my office...

kate78, Monday, 11 August 2008 19:44 (seventeen years ago)

silence here

Surmounter, Monday, 11 August 2008 19:47 (seventeen years ago)

At work this morning I built an architectural model out of staples, I then destroyed it like the Buddhist monks did to this sand sculpture in a doctumery I saw. Then after lunch I felt sick, and came home.

jel --, Monday, 11 August 2008 19:48 (seventeen years ago)

i'm sorry :(

i hate the feeling that i need to like be talkative on mondays. i'm just not. i don't like them.

Surmounter, Monday, 11 August 2008 20:33 (seventeen years ago)

woke up at 0530
ate a slice of pizza
rode 4 miles to school
studied up on some stuff
listened to a guy talk about the same stuff, plus some other stuff
cut on a cadaver to see that stuff up close
listened to a different guy talk about different stuff in exchange for a burrito
back to the lab for more cutting
on a computer now

gbx, Monday, 11 August 2008 20:37 (seventeen years ago)

woke up at 7am with my lungs crying - went through a pack and a half of cigs Sunday night and then shared a hookah
remembered that I didn't really have to go to work until later, went back to sleep
woke up at 8:30, got ready
looked at Cheerios on top of fridge, decided I could spare the time for Waffle House
ate Waffle House
cleaned up the lumber from a porch I tore down last week, took several trips to the dump
finally broke down and smoked a cigarette
had a chicken caesar salad (minus Caesar) for lunch to make up for Waffle House breakfast
smoked another cigarette
cleaned up more lumber
gave up, came home
looking at computer, about to take a shower, debating the merits of a nap

milo z, Monday, 11 August 2008 20:42 (seventeen years ago)

two years pass...

i just dropped my finely toasted and sliced buttered bagel all over the floor while trying to safely land a cup of tea and shortbread biscuit on the desk. *weepsk*

jumpskins, Monday, 18 July 2011 09:58 (fourteen years ago)

AND the company who i need to contact for a job interview's website is down. fucking smashing.

jumpskins, Monday, 18 July 2011 09:59 (fourteen years ago)

is the website down because you spilt tea and biscuit into the computer?

*ducks*

Summer Slam! (Ste), Monday, 18 July 2011 14:43 (fourteen years ago)
