So is she the new British pop tart? Someone fill me in so I can determine how to feel about this. I mean, I've been pretty lucky with the name so far, it would be a shame to have it ruined now.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Is she any good?

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

In that article about the celeb reality show she appeared to have rather large and nice-looking breasts, which I suppose I wouldn't mind being associated with.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

You've summed up everything you need to know about her.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 19:56 (twenty-two years ago)

No Jordan, she is not good.

We're talking *parodies* of large breasts here, (presumably) dangerously unhealthy cartoonish tits.

bent fabric (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 21:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I find her incredibly likable. There were a couple of documentaries about her a year ago on TV, which were quite revealing. I will read or watch anything about her. She is usually very honest and funny (intentionally, you're not laughing *at* her), and unusually ready to reveal details about her life. Most celebrities give such guarded interviews -- they'll plug whatever it is they're supposed to be plugging and avoid any questions about their life or views on anything. But Jordan/Katie just seems to be beyond caring. She's pretty universally hated in Britain (voted 2nd worst after Tony Blair in that poll, even) for no very good reason. Her life seems like a chaotic series of tabloid headlines: now she's having dwight yorke's baby, now she's got cancer, now her baby's blind, now she's going out with Gareth Gates, etc. etc. It's difficult to tell how much she's in control. Anyway I think she's fantastic and I love her. It's one of those rare occasions where I agree totally with Julie Burchill.
(wish I could be more articulate about this, but it's very early and I haven't had breakfast yet...)

Cathy (Cathy), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 08:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Cathy I was going to post the exact thing (only less well-writtentyped). I think it was mainly the documentary that made me love her (more). She's a self-styled tart.

nathalie (nathalie), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 08:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Hurrah! So now it's me, Nathalie and Julie Burchill. Who else is with us?

Cathy (Cathy), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Apart from her chest being horribly fake, have you seen her face? She is a pig! Being associated with this person can in no way be seen as a good thing!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 09:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm with Cathy, Natalie, and Julie (as ever) but being abloke I might be disqualified. I was telling someone just the other night that Jordan is a feminist icon. Was a bit tight. Anyway, she was actually very striking before all the surgery Pink.

Enrique (Enrique), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 09:15 (twenty-two years ago)

'BEFORE' surely is the point here though Enrique!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 09:18 (twenty-two years ago)

There were some pics of her on hols in this week's Screws. I can't understand how her breasts don't cause her immense agony, and are considered attractive. There was a profile / interview in the Observer about a year ago by Miranda Sawyer, in which Ms Price came across as really really obsessed by fame and celebrity in a quite massive and ultimately unhealthy way = she is a mentalist, liked by mentalists (Cathy and Nathalie excepted).

Dave B (daveb), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Cheers, brah. Anyway, she can hardly be as obsessed with fame as M*ran*a Sa*y*r.

Enrique (Enrique), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 10:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I agree, sort of, with Cathy and Nathalie. I remember seeing her on a Frank Skinner show just after Harvey had been born, and Dwight Yorke was still denying it being anything to do with him. Skinner more or less asked her there and then to come and live with him and just have a normal life and give up all the celebrity. I know exactly how he felt, she's like a rabbit in the headlights of the fake celebrity she's created.

That said, what she's done to herself through surgery isn't attractive in the slightest.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 10:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd rather be run over by a fucking juggernaut than spend 2 minutes with Frank Skinner, let alone live with him. Patronizing cunt.

Enrique (Enrique), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

she drunk in my local (the one i only went to about four times in my life ever) a few times when she lived in Ruislip (handy for nearby horse-riding/keeping of which she is very keen) and I saw her in there once briefly but it was all too surreal.

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

that should be 'she drank' of course, but i guess the former also applied

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 10:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Jordan has never struck me as having a particularly good sense of humour or level of intellect (wouldn't expect either tho) but has merely learnt the necessity of self-deprecation for coping with her ludicrous fame. feminist icon? shudder. i seem to remember that Frank Skinner interview more for her comments about 'why condoms are rubbish' (oh how the audience gasped/cringed) more than anything else though...

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 10:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I read the interview w/her in the guardian, referred to above. She came across as horrible, spoilt and capricious. Basically an insufferable person. OTOH, I think she is very beautiful - the pics the guardian photographer took of her were stunning etc, though massively overinflated silicone breasts = k-dud, especially if they actually look like they'd be uncomfortable.

The term "feminist icon" is perhaps devalued through overuse.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Pashmina (Pashmina), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

when i was home sick yesterday she did an interview on some talk show, and manage to go about 10 minutes of interview without saying anything that made sense. except that she would be bringing treats for the people on that show, because 'it's all about the team, isn't it?'

and that she'd probably get naked on the show. but that it wasn't 'jordan' that was going on the show, but 'katie'.

i didn't learn a lot. but then again, i didn't expect to, so it was ok.

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 15:33 (twenty-two years ago)

five years pass...

Celebrity couple Katie Price and Peter Andre are to separate after four-and-a half years of marriage, the couple's management company have confirmed.

The pair "have both requested that the media respect their families' privacy at this difficult time".

Mark G, Monday, 11 May 2009 15:52 (seventeen years ago)

yea it's too bad, mostly for the son.

Ned Trifle II, Monday, 11 May 2009 16:16 (seventeen years ago)

Well done for them for carrying it on for that long - from what I've seen they couldn't stand each other (at least recently). Poor kids.

Not the real Village People, Monday, 11 May 2009 16:19 (seventeen years ago)

xp
Sorry that looks like I'm laughing at their misfortune - it just made me laugh when, you know, the media IS their lives and they've got millions of pounds putting every tedious minute of their lives on tv.

Ned Trifle II, Monday, 11 May 2009 16:20 (seventeen years ago)

I feel sorry for the kids but the last time I watched Peter Andre he was spouting some homophobic crap to his little boy and they seemed to be being looked after mostly by childminders so maybe they're better off out of it.

First of I doubt they (or she) have that much money. If they do, they might check out isle three in Harrod's for some Good Taste spray can. The salespeople could dress up the can in orange and write "DARKEST TAN EVAH".

Anyway, Ned, you said he spouted homophobic shit? :-( I kinda hoped he was just a bit dumb but not that sort of moronic. :-( I'm reading the articles on the Daily Mail site just for the comments. Lollicious.

the tip of the tongue taking a trip tralalala (stevienixed), Tuesday, 12 May 2009 15:47 (seventeen years ago)

They were supposedly paid "millions" for their latest series. Hard to believe (except that second rung newsreaders are paid 92k so it's all too possible). I'm sure the Mail said she was worth £30m whatever that means. They're not shirt of a few bob put it that way.

Andre was talking to his son about kissing boys and going on and on about how wrong it was. As I watched I kept thinking "he's going to say he's only joking in a minute" but he didn't he just went on about it. But, with all due respect, he doesn't seem like the brightest button in the box. Maybe he has hidden depths.

Ned Trifle II, Tuesday, 12 May 2009 15:58 (seventeen years ago)

Oh yeah, it was the Mail - I present the The Chav Rich List!. How much do Daily Mail writers get paid for this kind of crap, more to the point?

Ned Trifle II, Tuesday, 12 May 2009 16:00 (seventeen years ago)

Peter Andre is the definition of "that kind of dumb"

Mark G, Tuesday, 12 May 2009 16:43 (seventeen years ago)

Yes! In fact, I always assumed, in his 1990 "peak" of popularity in Australia, that he WAS gay. When he married this inflated parody of a woman I assumed it was some self-denying beard thing.
