Although I have no idea what Kiss of Life is.

Pearl Earring. haven't seen Kiss of Life but saw P.E. last night and liked it; much more of a date movie if that matters at all.

KISS OF LIFE (12)
UK/France 2003 Dir. Emily Young 1 hr 40 mins

Helen lives in London with her father and her kids. John, her husband, is an aid-worker in Eastern Europe. He has been gone many months. Helen is desperately anxious that he should come home. Taking the kids to school one morning, she is killed in a car accident. She remains caught in limbo, trapped between life and death. Many miles away, in war-torn Eastern Europe, John is unaware that his wife has died. As Helen herself is unaware that she is dead. Thus begins, a four-day Odyssey: Grandpa and the kids must come to terms with Helen's death; John must travel across a war-torn land as he tries to reach home; and Helen must stand helplessly observing her own existence as it comes back to haunt her - until at last she is reconciled with John, and thus released.

Slump Man (Slump Man), Monday, 26 January 2004 19:27 (twenty-two years ago)

well, maybe your g/f is a weirdo or something

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 26 January 2004 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

she might be it's our first date

Slump Man (Slump Man), Monday, 26 January 2004 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

should i ask if she's a weirdo or not? maybe she likies weird arty films about ghosts and hobgoblins

Slump Man (Slump Man), Monday, 26 January 2004 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Kiss of Life sounds dire. I'd choose American Splendour, but I'm weird, so you're better off picking the safe choice of Pearl Earring. Just don't do anything stupid like talking about how much you'd like to give Scarlett one or something if it's a first date!

Did you score?

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 05:00 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm seeing her again on thursday, i see that as a good score. is that what you meant?

we're going to the same show (it's the nme awards tour)

Slump Man (Slump Man), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 10:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Thank Christ you didn't see Kiss Of Life. Already worst film of the year. Pearl earing was the smart choice (of the coin) American Splendor has had mixed reviews amongst the people I know (ie I didn't like it that much and everyone else did).

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 10:23 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd still like to watch american splendor but ideally in a more platonic and sober envioronment.

was kiss of life really that bad? we'd have flipped for that too if we had a 3 sided coin.

hey you weren't kidding.

what other good date-movies are on release?

big fish would be a good move, i reckon.

Slump Man (Slump Man), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Oddly I reckon Runaway Jury would be a good date movie. Lightweight, undemanding but well made fluff with BIG ISSUES, and plenty of courtroom tension. And everyone likes John Cusack.

Not seen Big Fish but could be overly sentimental, and as it is about a lifelong romance may make her start thinking LONG TERM (remving the fun from the now).If you likes GWAPE I'd catch Lost in translationf for the SJ double and you could get a decent sob reaction.
