I'm coming to New York

I'm planning a trip to NYC. I'm thinking around about Easter - either April 3rd-10th (if I go for a full week - I might cut in to 5 days or so) or 8th-15th. There's plenty for me to do there alone (record shopping and galleries/museums are top of the list - and I'm keen to hear advice) but I'm hoping there might be FAPping too. Offers of a decent sofa or bed or something would be very welcome, or alternatively info on cheap hotels - which obviously must mean outside Manhattan, but preferably not a long subway ride away. I really like Prospect Park, but I doubt that that is likely to be a cheap area to stay either. Actually, I like Brooklyn generally, and I dare say some parts are cheapish.

I can't say that I've ever heard of a "Brooklyn hotel" Martin but come to think of it that sounds kind of dirty. Maybe they exist! Did you try the other cheep NYC hotel threads Martin, like the one mark s started a couple of weeks ago?

Whoa, I just revived that thread.

mark s needs help from his new york chums and their nice visitors

I love the Gershwin, but it's just getting out of my price range. I'd rather have a whole weekend in NYC than just one night.

Dude, do the mariott on Jay st. There is a restaraunt down montague with the cutest waitress in the universe.

there's one that seems swank from the outside at 17th st and 5th ave in park slope. i can't think of the name, however.

Hurrah for Martin! He was an incredibly gracious host for me in October and every should get a chance to meet him, he's a very friendly and thoughtful sort. :-) Enjoy the trip!

There are cheap hotels within the city, but if you prefer Brooklyn, there are some b&b's there. Fort Greene is a nice neighborhood. I don't know anything about Regina's, but it looks nice. (I used to live in Fort Greene.)

Regina's

The Harlem Flophouse is cheaper, and looks beautiful.

I'm coming to New York in two weeks! I'm going to do nothing but ride public trans & eat "pizza" so I can snob against NYC after I get home.

In NYC for ten days. What's going on? (will be at The Church show, The Pop Group, and will undoubtedly check out the disappointing Bjork exhibit at MoMA)

What’s the most prominent rental scooter company? I hate those things, but I will need one to make it from venue to venue for the Long Play Festival in Brooklyn.

Crack's Addition (Boring, Maryland), Monday, 21 April 2025 16:25 (one year ago)

citibike (only bikes)

no rental scooters in brooklyn

, Monday, 21 April 2025 16:30 (one year ago)

there are so many electric/regular bikes, you should be fine - most things in the Long Play are usually close to each other and easy to use bikes as well!

fpsa, Tuesday, 22 April 2025 02:22 (one year ago)

You really can't rent scooters? That's bizarre.
