Yup, boooorrrrrrrrrrrred. I am measuring out my life in fucking stickybacked plastic.

However, I inexplicably have !party rings!, so it's not all bad I suppose.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, not Pashmina eh? I think he's actually high on puncture sealant. Well done on using the capitals there PP. Perhaps you could attempt to use some more? I find they alleviate boredom A LOT. NO HONEST.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry Sarah :(

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

(I did just fix a PUNCTURe actuaLLy, now I am scared)

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

That's alright dude, just pass me some of the puncture sealant and it's fine! Perhaps you could tell me a fact about Gong? That would be good!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 14:54 (twenty-two years ago)

*yawn*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude, you want to talk boredom? Try Vermont in the off season. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz! I'm so bored I actually got up this morning, then went back to bed because being asleep was more interesting than being awake.

the river fleet, Tuesday, 27 January 2004 14:58 (twenty-two years ago)

i've been at work for about 8 minutes after sitting through an informational conference this morning, and i'm already bored.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Now I am REALLY scared of sara's k-1337 telekinetick POWR. b/c JUST 2 DAYS AGO I posted to the beyond_em yahoo group about......brrrr....GONG!!!

(plus, my Dad just popped in to say hello, 1/2hr of his sports-driven antagonism = me no longer bored but SEETHING)

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Gay bar.

@lex K (Alex K), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Blimey - ok next prediction is that today you have had TWO CUPS OF TEA. I am not quite feeling thee psychic vibe as much about this one but still OVER TO YOU!

Being a fake psychic looks quite fun though don't you think? Unless of course you are in the film GHOST playing the Whoopi Goldberg's character who turns out to REALLY be able to see ghosts and hilarity ensues... I could have a wizzards hat with stars on it!

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Christ, somebody hit the Harvey.

@lex K (Alex K), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll state my boredom here as well. Also, my envy of those who are currying/quizfapping tonight.

robster (robster), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not just bored, I'm bored and still drunk from last night.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

My task for today? Find out where my mum has hidden my record collection, if indeed, she has kept it at all, and not lost it/sold it/let it be stolen like she did with my jewellery. It's like a freaking Channel 5 film - the Hunt For The St.Claire Diamonds.

the river fleet, Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha

Last time I was at my parents house I went through every box of records they have out there (which is many) looking for their copy of Queen's A Night at the Opera.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not all that bored - too early in my NEW JOB for that. I am slightly nervous that all the work I'm trying to do but can't cos I'm waiting for return phone calls etc. etc. will get swept under the carpet, but for now, I'm happy and efficient. Sorry.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm never bored, me.

has anyone asked c_man what he thinks?

doomified, Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:26 (twenty-two years ago)

fuck c-man up the ass!!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Any records worth hunting for Kate? Actually, that's brightened me somewhat... just splashed 40 odd bar on some wax that a mate is flogging - lots of lovely psyche. Whooooooo.

@lex K (Alex K), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Certainly records *I* find worth hunting for. Loads of rare Spacemen 3 + Spinoffs, Bauhaus, 60s psych and stuff. I'm not actually that bothered by the diamonds (I mean, I've never worn the things, but you know, it's like the heirloom factor) aside from the fact that I want my mother to ADMIT that she lost them, instead of doggedly insisting that I took them to England (Smuggle a thousand pounds worth of South African diamonds past the customs? Are you mad?) but if my records are gone, all bloody hell is going to break loose.

the river fleet, Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:39 (twenty-two years ago)

pashmina, isn't that just the nature of the business? my parents have been running their shop for nearly 30 years and they complain of being bored and really poor in october/november and january-march. he recently got a spinning video and has 2 or three sessions a week where people bring in their trainers and all spin together. something to break the winter blues.

guess that doesn't make you less bored, just sympathising...

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:42 (twenty-two years ago)

scheisse - surely you don't just loose a grand's worth of rocks? Fuck that. Anyway, yay the vinyl - have you had the floorboards up yet?

@lex K (Alex K), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going to check the attic today but it's below zero up there. No insulation! Maybe I should have a scavenger hunt: If you can find my diamonds, you get to keep your choice of my record collection. WAIT, HANG ON A MINUTE, THAT'S ALL WRONG!!! If you can find my record collection, I'll give you a diamond. That's better.

the river fleet, Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:46 (twenty-two years ago)

What, on of the diamonds that you haven't seen for like ten years you mean? Grrrrreat. Well, anyway, obviously checka the attck, but also under the beds, tops of wardrobes, the garage and that coffin shaped box you caught your mum dragging out to the bottom of the garden at 3 in the morning before burying as the rain lashed down, all those years ago.

@lex K (Alex K), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

i wish kate could post us pictures of her 'hood

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

c_man? can you help? yer stationed in front of her house this very moment ala black christmas, arent you?

doomified, Tuesday, 27 January 2004 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Collette: Yes, it's like that/this every year! The thing is, every January, I get a little bump for the first 1-2weeks, before it slumps again, so I always get my hopes up, even though I know it won't last.

A TERRIBLE story, inspired bt TRF's postings:
My mother in law's great aunt was an intrepid edwardian explorer type who went all over the world, during which time, she took copious notes, diaries etc, and photos too. My mother in law had the whole lot in her attic for years. One day she decided to tidy up, and she needed attic space, so she pitched the whole lot in the bin!! Can you believe it!!

x-post doom-e HAHAHAHA

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Bwah hah hah! Stevem, email yer snailmail address to my yahoo account above, and I'll send you a postcard of my current hood. Bennington is one of those weird places that really does look exactly like the postcards! And no, I cannot stickytape a diamond to the postcard. ;-)

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

:-(

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Pink, you've had a postcard. HSA said he got his today, so you should be getting yours soon!

HRH Queen Kate (kate), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Woooo, your majesty! (and a diamond?)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Argh, that was an x-post up there, laughing at Doom, not at Pash. man, that suxors, Pash! I kinda felt a little bit of the same, when I threw out all my teenage letters from my penpals. Some of them were really intense, really emotional, some of them were works of art - but really, I don't have the space, and I don't want to reengage with that world of teenage angst any more. I wish there were a way I could track down the people and return their letters to them, because they say more about their lives than mine, but I've lost touch with most of them and have no way of doing it. Besides, it's not like they've offered to return my letters.

the river fleet, Tuesday, 27 January 2004 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Well I might be bored in this meeting/presentation thing I'm going to at 9 am, but I plan on drafting an article for FT while sitting there, so.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

can you just ask your mom if she threw out your records? or would that just result in more mental pain?

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 17:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Bored, bored, boredom in excelious.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I found my records, they were in the attic. A bit cold, but generally in good condition. Also found my old guitars, my super-8 projector and a host of other crap I had forgotten I had.

The diamonds, however, are still missing. I'm going a bit nuts because my jewelery box was in a cardboard box with a bunch of other junk WHICH IS ALL ALSO MISSING. i.e. mirrors and candlebras and a skull and a bunch of goth tat and the 20-alterna-something equivalent of glass cats. I recall telling my mum that she could throw out the tat. My fear is that the WHOLE BOX got chucked, including my heirloom jewelery.

the river fleet, Tuesday, 27 January 2004 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I found my records, they were in the attic. A bit cold, but generally in good condition. Also found my old guitars, my super-8 projector and a host of other crap I had forgotten I had.

you have records and guitars! it's almost impossible to be bored. at least not more bored than sitting in an office at half five counting the hours.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, if I had a record player, that would alleviate my boredom a bit. But my freaking DAD nicked it.

I should drag the guitars downstairs or something. But diamond hunting is somehow more fun.

the river fleet, Tuesday, 27 January 2004 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

parents and attics and throwing things out = a recipe for evil. my grandmother was a notorious hoarder, and when she died we had to remove things like balls of dirty string, used envelopes, and bundles of newspapers dating from the '50s from her house. the one thing she did manage to throw out was my mother's comic book collection, which would easily be worth six figures if it was still here with us.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

three months pass...
Jesus christ, what a fukcign day. (bangs head against table to alleviate BOREDOM)

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I mean, like here's what happened to-day:

0

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Except the fucking phone rang again and again and again, like every 1 1/2 mins. NOT ONCE (ok perhaps like 4 times) was it worthn picking up, junk calls all day.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

i've got a lot of boring typing to do, but i'm putting it off by posting whatever random nonsense comes into my head on ilx. this is not a good thing, probably.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Was Ned just eaten by bees? OH NO!!!

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

see, the bike trade is a bit problematical at the moment (this is boring, I know DO YOU SEE1!!??) in that everything is becomong totally homogenised, basically all you can get, unless at great expense is mountain bike parts. So people keep coming in for bits that I could have easily got a mere 4-5 years ago, but it's all total unobtanium, plus sh|m4n0, who are like the m$ of bike componentry are teh sukc at supporting their older gear, and they seem to have this fetish for increasin g the amount of sprockets on a freewheel for no other reason than "our stuff has more gears" EVEN THOUGH THE FUKCING STUFF DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY so someone comes in w/a bike with decent 7-speed type gears that are worn out, or bent or sumink, b/c all midrange & upward sh|m/-\|\|0 gear is now 9-speed, and they're pushing 10 speed as of this year's new dur4-4ce groupset (ie 10 sprockets on one cluster, multiplied by 3 chainrings = 30 gears, even though only 15 will actually run smoothly b/c of chainline problems, plus, the chain is thinner & wears out more quickly etc) so such person has a grim choice:
1/ replace broken stuff w/bottom-end "t0urney" gear, the only stuff that still works w/7-sp
2/ upgrade to 9-sp, meaning replace front & rear changers, chainset, sprockets, possibly hub, chain, bottom bracket, gear shifters. Get something that doesn't work as well as that which you are replacing, plus, lay out 2-300 quid.
3/buy a new bike.

so i suppoose you couild say that today has been frustrating rather than boring. Gah, fukc sh|m4n0.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:18 (twenty-two years ago)

sell them all rohloff speed hubs.

Ed (dali), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha, if only!!

(I have actually got someone on the go for a rohloff @ the moment)

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:25 (twenty-two years ago)

wtf 30 spd?? that must look like a sidways ziggurat of gears off the side of yr rear wheel. i have an old trek that i commute on when i can; it's 3x7 and i never ever shift the front one off the middle gear. what is the point of all that shit?

g--ff (gcannon), Monday, 10 May 2004 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 19:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm bored too. My current job has me hyper-busy for the first half of the month and with little to do for the second half. I really ought to book more holidays, which would fill the gaps as I have plenty of annual leave left, but I'm sick and tired of going on holiday on my own and am never organised enough to organise going on holiday with other ppl and anyway too many ppl want to go on the kind of holidays where they just sunbathe on the beach all day which I'm not too keen on and...this is turning into a rant. I'll stop now. Sorry.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 24 June 2004 08:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I was bored, then I read the Excelsior book thread. I was less bored for a while, now I'm bored again.

Good god, what a day. I took a load of money between 9.30 and 11.30, since which time, nothing. Maybe I should lox0r up & go home. Or maybe get drunk, I dunno.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Saturday, 2 October 2004 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

You know it's bad when you start looking at old flamewars on message boards you post to.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Saturday, 2 October 2004 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

yep, it is.
but then again, they can cast one's current life situation in a better light :-)

and hey, Im so bored I have spent many wasteful hours tonight surfing the net, looking for answers to all the 'big questions', only to realise that my brain has turned into such mush over the last couple of years, I'm barely able to comprehend half of what I find.
It is freezing cold in my house, almost 4am and I lack sleep ( big time ) but still I sit here. Like a thick, bored lump, vaguely hoping for something interesting to happen. Like sudden enlightenment, or maybe the instantaneous regrowth of my once razor sharp and on-the-ball intellect.
ha

*sigh*

donna (donna), Saturday, 2 October 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

last customer of the day:

"have you got a 40 watt bulb"
yes, 35p please
"haven't you got anything cheaper, what about 25 watt"
they all cost the same, 25, 40, 60, 100w, all cost the same
"oh, i'll have the 40 then"

he was willing to sit in a room illuminated by a 25w bulb (ie live in a fukcign film noir set), in order to save a few pence. he wasn't even old.

I hate my life. I'm closing up and going home.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Saturday, 2 October 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

maybe it was his last lightbulb money til nest month or something.

In comparison to his life of over-the-top penny pinching and dim bulbs, even my life seems fabulously cool and interesting!

Go home, and hold closely to your heart, the relief of not being that man.

donna (donna), Saturday, 2 October 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

They say only boring people get bored.

I am probably the most boring person in the world, right now.
