Stupid (Stupid), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Much hagis.

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Easy answer, don't have more than one haggis, get a bigger haggis.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:14 (twenty-two years ago)

A flock of haggis.

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I say "Haggisses" but my mum says "Haggi". FITE!!!

The River Kate (kate), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

The gift of the Hagi... THANKS!

andy, Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Kate, how often do you and your mum have opportunities to talk haggis?

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

You'd be surprised. More Scots than the Scottish, remember?

The River Kate (kate), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I heard if you get enough haggis in one room, it will merge together to form a super haggis. Its dangerous though.

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

You know, vegetarian Haggis is actually really good. I know no one believes me, but...

The River Kate (kate), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Whats the point of that?

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:22 (twenty-two years ago)

The sheep thanks you!

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:27 (twenty-two years ago)

The more i research this haggis shit, the more i am glad it stays on that side of the Atlantic.

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:27 (twenty-two years ago)

i always thought it was like "fish" and "deer"

Felonious Drunk (Felcher), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:31 (twenty-two years ago)

It's all the best bits of a sheep, plus oats boiled in its own stomach.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:32 (twenty-two years ago)

See what i mean? Ill even take scrapple over that.

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 20:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Just as long as they don't put that rot in the national drink, it's ok with me.

jim wentworth (wench), Thursday, 29 January 2004 04:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooooh haggis. We had mini Burns supper last Sunday. The ingredients may sound traumatic, but really, it's all tasty and crumbly and spicy and gorgeous. Serve with lovely mashed potatoes and a bashed turnip or two, yum.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 29 January 2004 10:18 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, we had the works at jonnie's house. The whisky poured over the haggis made all the difference.

chris (chris), Thursday, 29 January 2004 10:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait isn't it about the same as "real" sausages then? Why the disgust?

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 29 January 2004 10:38 (twenty-two years ago)

In general I mean, myself mostly included tho I ate black pudding once

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 29 January 2004 10:39 (twenty-two years ago)

once? that's not enough

chris (chris), Thursday, 29 January 2004 10:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Well I quite liked it if that helps

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 29 January 2004 10:51 (twenty-two years ago)

we had a burns supper too, in fact i don't think i've ever seen as many haggi in the shops as i did this year, although wierdly the veggie ones (which sounded quite nummy, but y'know offal's better) were more expensive than the meat ones...

black pudding is food of the gods, numnumnummynumnum

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 29 January 2004 11:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I had the Queen's haggis (Halls - by Apt. to her Madge ect.) but weirdly it's made of pig bits, not sheep. Still ruddy good eating, though. Mmmm tasty Islay single malt went well with the whole shebang.

I thought about posh haggis in ACTUAL SHEEP'S STOMACH from Waitrose, but heck, couldn't be bothered.

I think saucissons ordinaires have less of the offal and more of the actual meat and lard, innit? And black pudding is made of bludd, obv.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 29 January 2004 11:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Well anyway,on this site, everything is explained:

The plural of 'Haggis' is 'Haggi', like the plural of 'cactus'

And hagi=super tasty, although never have teh chance to have it much these days.

Johnney B (Johnney B), Thursday, 29 January 2004 12:18 (twenty-two years ago)

And I should go haggis hunting one day, and bag a whole freezer-full.

Johnney B (Johnney B), Thursday, 29 January 2004 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought only things that end in "us" become "i" in plural (for irony)

Exception to every rule, I guess.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 29 January 2004 13:10 (twenty-two years ago)

as to haggi/haggises etc. it's not amazing but i'd happily have one - it's like an extra-savoury sausage. Black pudding likewise would eat one (esp when i was in uni to freak out one anonying dude who was a vegetarian preacher)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 29 January 2004 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)

A third of US tourists who were quizzed about their trip to Scotland said they believed the haggis was a creature

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/3240190.stm

Ho ho ho.

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 29 January 2004 13:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Just as long as they don't put that rot in the national drink, it's ok with me.

Haggis in Irn Bru? Now that's an idea...

The River Kate (kate), Thursday, 29 January 2004 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris V (Chris V), Thursday, 29 January 2004 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I am really keening for some haggis now, you bastards.

Ricardo (RickyT), Thursday, 29 January 2004 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Haggisim.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 29 January 2004 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

if they put haggises in cigarettes then you can go to a club and smoke a fag haggis

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 29 January 2004 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Last time I was on a thread about haggis, someone mentioned Bovril and blew my mind. Insanity in a can.

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Thursday, 29 January 2004 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Jar.

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 29 January 2004 16:28 (twenty-two years ago)

No, can.

El Spinktor (El Spinktor), Thursday, 29 January 2004 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Thursday, 29 January 2004 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)
