Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Friday, 30 January 2004 05:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 30 January 2004 05:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I bet those cans are full of beer!

may pang (maypang), Friday, 30 January 2004 05:07 (twenty-two years ago)

may pang, you insult me with such accusations.

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Friday, 30 January 2004 05:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Btw, is it true that indie hipsters in the States love drinking this stuff?

may pang (maypang), Friday, 30 January 2004 05:09 (twenty-two years ago)

dude, is that a magnifying glass that i see there?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 30 January 2004 05:09 (twenty-two years ago)

looks like a diabolical coke scale.

Orbit (Orbit), Friday, 30 January 2004 05:10 (twenty-two years ago)

may pang (maypang), Friday, 30 January 2004 05:11 (twenty-two years ago)

the mag glass is a soldering tool

impact 89 fm is the college station at Michigan State University. the guy i bought the speakers from was a DJ there.

hipsters apparently enjoy this stuff. que lastima.

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Friday, 30 January 2004 05:12 (twenty-two years ago)

PBR = proof that sometimes even korny indie fuXors can get something right (i.e., it's about as good as cheap american beer is gonna get).

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 30 January 2004 05:12 (twenty-two years ago)

The key word in those parantheses is "about":

oops (Oops), Friday, 30 January 2004 05:15 (twenty-two years ago)

hey sharp-eyed fuckers, see if you can identify the wooden box on the left side of the pic.

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Friday, 30 January 2004 05:16 (twenty-two years ago)

when did you die & become clint eastwood, oops-man?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 30 January 2004 05:17 (twenty-two years ago)

altho, i should say that i didn't finish all those cans tonight.

i finished some of them, and stacked the rest.

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Friday, 30 January 2004 05:18 (twenty-two years ago)

My only experience with PBR comes through Blue Velvet.

Frank: What kinda beer do you like?

Jeffrey: Heineken.

Frank: FUCK THAT SHIT. PABST BLUE RIBBON!!!

may pang (maypang), Friday, 30 January 2004 05:20 (twenty-two years ago)

TS: clint v. dennis

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 30 January 2004 05:20 (twenty-two years ago)

hey sharp-eyed fuckers, see if you can identify the wooden box on the left side of the pic.

BIG MUFF

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 30 January 2004 05:36 (twenty-two years ago)

>you have 2 beers left. where will they go?
The way I see it, you have FOURTEEN beers left. Two-fours are the only way to go...

Nice to see you kickin' out the jams with Bose Audio in your room. Respect.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 30 January 2004 13:30 (twenty-two years ago)

UUuhhh... why would I love him? Pabst Blue Ribbon? Fuck that shit. BODDINGTONS! EXTRA! SMOOTH!

The River Kate (kate), Friday, 30 January 2004 13:37 (twenty-two years ago)

boddingtons...bleah.

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Friday, 30 January 2004 13:39 (twenty-two years ago)

It's the girly bitter, don't you know?

Even though they have COWS in their ads with UDDERS which talk with male voices. Erm, how do you manage that?

The River Kate (kate), Friday, 30 January 2004 13:41 (twenty-two years ago)

what, the udders talk?

does each teat have a voice, so that every cow has a greek chorus?

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Friday, 30 January 2004 13:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't ask me, I didn't design the ad. A male cow, with an udder that dispensed Bodington Creme Ale, complaining "all the girls just want me for my beer." WHAT CRACK ADDLED CREATIVE BRAINSTORMING TEAM CAME UP WITH THAT ONE?!?!?

The River Kate (kate), Friday, 30 January 2004 13:52 (twenty-two years ago)

a "crack team" of experts, obv.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Friday, 30 January 2004 15:33 (twenty-two years ago)

PBR = proof that sometimes even korny indie fuXors can get something right (i.e., it's about as good as cheap american beer is gonna get).

But what about the Champagne of Beers?

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 30 January 2004 15:38 (twenty-two years ago)

uck, i haven't been able to drink pbr since leaving college. the thought of it makes me queasy.
we used to pyramid our cans in the kitchen and have bulls-eye contests with my housemate's bb gun, or else do the william tell thing. us liberal arts students are real intelligent.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 30 January 2004 15:45 (twenty-two years ago)

hey kingfish, was i right?

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 30 January 2004 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

of course.

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Friday, 30 January 2004 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

try it with 16 ounce cans!

kephm, Friday, 30 January 2004 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

i had a friend that sorta looked like kingfish that took a karate chop to my pyramid and we got it on film. in black and white even! but why?

kephm, Friday, 30 January 2004 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

because we must tear down if we are to build anew

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Friday, 30 January 2004 17:04 (twenty-two years ago)

10 BEERS? Come on, guy...

dean! (deangulberry), Friday, 30 January 2004 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Ten American beers. NOTHING! There's more alcohol in a Stella-drinker's piss!

The River Kate (kate), Friday, 30 January 2004 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

"It's the water!" is my new expression for expressing delight.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 30 January 2004 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

"Moisture is the essence of wetness!"

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 30 January 2004 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Ten American beers. NOTHING!

not to sound like an alky, but kate's right.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 30 January 2004 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

????!! I would die a very uncomfortable death.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Friday, 30 January 2004 18:08 (twenty-two years ago)

i wouldn't be happy the next day, but if that was a long night's drinking then i'd be alright.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 30 January 2004 18:33 (twenty-two years ago)

10 PBR? I could do it easily. If there was no queue for the loo.

I mean, LINE for the BATHROOM. Keep forgetting I'm in America now. Like the bizare american accents on "Bob the Builder" don't give it away!

The River Kate (kate), Friday, 30 January 2004 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

hmm. daddy's is gonna be interesting.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 30 January 2004 18:56 (twenty-two years ago)

What, is there no loo in this Daddy's place? I'VE CHANGED MY MIND, I DON'T WANT TO GO!!! But no worries, in the States I always drink spirits coz the shot sizes are unregulated. Hooray!

(You can also give a definitive answer on the "What accent does Kate have?" question.)

The River Kate (kate), Friday, 30 January 2004 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I've very very little tolerance for alcohol. My butt was snockered on Wednesday night. No repeats. I'll happily watch as you folks consume all those beers, though. (Now, is Daddy's both Saturday AND Sunday night? -- I'm so f-ing confused.)

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Friday, 30 January 2004 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going to Daddy's Saturday night, definitely. I plan to go to the Lakeside Lounge on Sunday night, but don't know what others are doing. Like I said, herding cats...

The River Kate (kate), Friday, 30 January 2004 19:18 (twenty-two years ago)

just for you all, i'll take count of how many beers i consume at tomorrow night's Paisley Product show.

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Friday, 30 January 2004 19:18 (twenty-two years ago)

(Please note: I will *not* be trying to consume ten beers on Saturday night, I have to be compis mentis to meet my brother on Sunday morning.)

The River Kate (kate), Friday, 30 January 2004 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

awww that's no fun.

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Friday, 30 January 2004 19:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Well then, when I get home from the Stills show, I'll stop by Daddy's. I'll be the short, exhausted-looking one.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Friday, 30 January 2004 19:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Isn't British beer on the average much lower in alcohol than American swill?

Clarke B., Friday, 30 January 2004 22:46 (twenty-two years ago)

No, it's higher in alcohol percentage (depending on the beer) and the servings are two to two and a half the size!

The River Kate (kate), Friday, 30 January 2004 22:52 (twenty-two years ago)

so the stella i have at home isnt as strong as the stella in the UK? thats probally a good thing

kephm, Friday, 30 January 2004 22:53 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, I'm trying to find a percentage on any of the beer in my mum's fridge, but none of it has a percentage on it. So I cannot prove that point. But a serving of beer in the US seems to be about 12 fl. oz. In the UK, it is a WHOLE PINT. Maybe it's not twice as much, but it's still significantly larger.

The River Kate (kate), Friday, 30 January 2004 23:04 (twenty-two years ago)

the beer in your mum's fridge will most likely be 5.6% alcohol by volume.

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Friday, 30 January 2004 23:24 (twenty-two years ago)

What, are you going to come round and test it? American beer is weak! And Canadian beer even weaker!

The River Kate (kate), Friday, 30 January 2004 23:26 (twenty-two years ago)

buy me a plane ticket & i'll be out there in two shakes of a drunk's jiffy.

Kingfish Funyun (Kingfish), Friday, 30 January 2004 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, and I'll be in NYC by the time you get to Vermont.

What, do you have a home testing kit or something?

The River Kate (kate), Friday, 30 January 2004 23:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you guy sure that magnifying glass device isn't an insect torture device? I can almost see some traitorous cockroach straining against the teeth of the alligator clip, the lens of the glass focusing a lethal point of white-hot pain that inches ever-closer to his ickle insect-head, as the sun arcs inexorably etc

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Saturday, 31 January 2004 00:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I bet those cans are full of beer!

Silly, they're cans of PBR; they were NEVER full of beer!

(I am amazed that I am the first person on the thread to make this joke.)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 31 January 2004 00:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Canadian beer is WEAKER? Oh... hold on... I just fell for it, didn't I?

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 31 January 2004 00:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't make out the wooden box. Is there one there? Is that where they keep the GOOD beer? The Olympia label is full of wonders. It's a "Light Table Beer" so it's popular with photographers, we can assume. Why they would want us to know this I can't say.

Also the appearance of word "the" in the slogan quoted at the bottom must be the consequence of some inadvertent insertion at the printer's.
