One of the things that makes me sad I don't visit the South more often.

Orbit (Orbit), Monday, 2 February 2004 06:48 (twenty years ago) link

That does NOT sound like a mellow mushroom. A raspy mushroom, yes.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 2 February 2004 06:48 (twenty years ago) link

thanks, DB!

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 2 February 2004 06:50 (twenty years ago) link

one just opened here. i haven't been there yet, though. i am afraid that it will be filled with stoned hippies.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Monday, 2 February 2004 06:52 (twenty years ago) link

geeta (geeta), Monday, 2 February 2004 07:04 (twenty years ago) link

Dude, we were on this wild goosechase one day in Carrollton, GA. during my American sojourn and I saw one of these places and it totally made my day.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Monday, 2 February 2004 07:09 (twenty years ago) link

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 2 February 2004 07:43 (twenty years ago) link

u know, the FIRST THING i thought of when i clicked this site was, "is there one of these in lexington, ky?" if so, i knew that nick would be SO into this shit.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 2 February 2004 08:45 (twenty years ago) link

2nd thing ... "if there's one in athens, ga, is this where ethan trife works these days"?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Monday, 2 February 2004 08:46 (twenty years ago) link

wow, this so is done by the homestarrunner folks. which I guess makes sense, since they operate out of GA (I think?). i heard the guy who does Strongbad's voice on the local college station last year hosting a special Strongbad music hour, turns out he just listens to the same boring shit they play on there all the time anyway - "rr, Strongbad really loves this next Jim O'Rourke side-project..."

Adrian (Adrian Langston), Monday, 2 February 2004 08:48 (twenty years ago) link

I'd just like to comment that over the past couple of days I have had a total mushroom conversion!! They're GRATE aren't they? I had some bog standard Tescos ones first (fry them in olive oil and then SCOFF with asparagus and pasta) and now I have some Sainsers bog standardbrown chesnut ones. I had some with mince* AND THEY WERE STILL GOOD. I think I am turning into a hobbit**

*it's my friend, camp alan
**yay!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 2 February 2004 09:20 (twenty years ago) link

However I still doubt I'll like them on pizza unless I put them there myself.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 2 February 2004 09:21 (twenty years ago) link

ha ha Tad. Actually I've never even eaten there. I just happen to have ridiculously strong lingering emotional ties to some of the people who work there.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 2 February 2004 14:07 (twenty years ago) link

One of these places opened up about 50 yards from my apartment. I haven't eaten there yet, but I have thrown rocks at it.

Dale the Titled (cprek), Monday, 2 February 2004 16:00 (twenty years ago) link

I played an open mic night at the one in Nashville once.

Begs2Differ, Tuesday, 3 February 2004 02:55 (twenty years ago) link

well, dude, slice me up some of that lovin'!

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 03:12 (twenty years ago) link

Haha!! There's one like five minutes from my apartment... Their beer selection is pretty unbelievable, especially for a town this size.

Clarke B., Tuesday, 3 February 2004 03:43 (twenty years ago) link

I had no idea MM was all over the place.

Fuck, I love pizza.

don weiner, Tuesday, 3 February 2004 11:56 (twenty years ago) link

I am planning on eating there tonight. Nickalcious or EmV, are you up for it?

Dale the Titled (cprek), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 14:22 (twenty years ago) link

Hey ya, I think I be down for that. Gimme a call later or something.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 3 February 2004 15:06 (twenty years ago) link

We had a "Kosmic Karma" with spinach, feta, sun-dried tomatoes and some other stuff. It was pretty good. Good enough to distract from the "A Jam Band Exploded In Here" decor. Beer selection was good- Reasonably priced pitchers and bottles of higher-quality stuff plus $1.50 PBRs.

"I need to go to... uh... that room where you... um.. flush."

"Flushroom?! Dude! That's totally going in the restaurant."

Dale the Titled (cprek), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 15:29 (twenty years ago) link

"I can't wait to get my hands on a couple of cold Dead Guys!"

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 15:58 (twenty years ago) link

the freakish tree in the middle of the dining room was still disturbing though.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 20:36 (twenty years ago) link

More disturbing than the wooden anthropomorphic mushroom guarding the doors like a pyschedelic gargoyle?
