yeah.

tell me.

when you're wondering how the fuck you've ended up living in your parents' house -- again.

when you've got a cold sore and the pub is out of the question.

when the light in your bedroom doesn't work.

when you're worried that your ex might be having a better time than you.

when you're lazing with dreams of nothing but blue skies.

what then.

what the FUCK do you do then?

Danny Quintana (danny quintana), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:06 (twenty-two years ago)

GO TO OPTIMO

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:10 (twenty-two years ago)

shit, I know of Optimo and I've never even been to Scotland. Go.

hstencil, Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:11 (twenty-two years ago)

i was just about to add a caveat:

APART FROM GO TO OPTIMO.

clubbing is out of the question.

it was a quasi-philosophical enquiry anyway.

Danny Quintana (danny quintana), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe a pub quiz?

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:14 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry, N. i have to direct you to my original statement:

>>
the pub is out of the question.

Danny Quintana (danny quintana), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

hstencil, are you that guy that used to have a website listing all your jazz records and all that?

Danny Quintana (danny quintana), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:16 (twenty-two years ago)

oh fuck.

hstencil, Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

what's wrong? it was class! geek central, mind.

Danny Quintana (danny quintana), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, my new suggestion is to start reading a novel or listen to the Fall really loud.

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

hahaha, no sweat Danny, just joshin'.

hstencil, Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

i've been listening to music all day and it's stopped doing it for me. the lot of it.

i bought a book on foucault today, but i don't want to read anything.

i quite like the thought of writing something, but i haven't had an original thought for perhaps as long as 4 years.

Danny Quintana (danny quintana), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Go for a 45 minute walk.

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:26 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah i've already been for a walk but i was thinking of going for one again later.

it's really cold and clear.

good weather for walking.

i was thinking of starting some other threads but i'm not articulate enough to properly phrase the questions i had in mind.

Danny Quintana (danny quintana), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Going to bed and dreaming of comforting things like blue skies and a post-apocalytpic world is OK too. Alternatively, sniping people (imagining, not doing).

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:32 (twenty-two years ago)

do you ever just feel like the excitement du jour is passing you by. and that this is not right?

Danny Quintana (danny quintana), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, I do. Quite a lot.

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

if i have nothing to do for even just 20 minutes, i go mental. my whole day is fucked.

Danny Quintana (danny quintana), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe most days of mine are fucked. I guess one gets used to anything.

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:40 (twenty-two years ago)

how come your days are fucked?

Danny Quintana (danny quintana), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I just mean in the same way as you're saying yours are, but maybe I have lower expectations. It's just a maybe.

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:43 (twenty-two years ago)

this is the worst production of waiting for godot ever

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Here comes a fat man.

N. (nickdastoor), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:45 (twenty-two years ago)

n. are you still mad at me for all the giant grasshopper comments?

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 29 February 2004 22:24 (twenty-two years ago)

stay in and watch the oscars if you cant go to optimo - what else is there?

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 29 February 2004 22:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Danny Quintana (danny quintana), Sunday, 29 February 2004 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

hey tickle - you doing the 'mo or the oscars?

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 29 February 2004 22:52 (twenty-two years ago)

alright jed

i'm giving the dancefloor a miss for the foreseeable. i went out last week and woke up next day feeling like i needed a hip replacement -- can't be good..

Danny Quintana (danny quintana), Sunday, 29 February 2004 23:01 (twenty-two years ago)

not tonight, i think it will be v quiet altho i like it that way but i'll definately be there for the americans!

i thought you were very hip, you dont need a replacement.

oh dear.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 29 February 2004 23:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't you have that kool Mono/ Monorail place in Glasgow?!

Um, not open all night, evidently. But he-hey, you could go there tomorrow! :)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

the record shop is good, the rest is not so good. it lacks atmosphere.

jed_ (jed), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Needless to say, I've never been there. Just've read about it.
(And exchanged a few emails and some music with Stephen)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 1 March 2004 00:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Mono has excellent home brewed ginger beer.

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 1 March 2004 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

My head throbs.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 1 March 2004 13:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I love ginger beer. Is Mondo the one on Renfield Street or am I way off?

I love that China Buffet King, despite the condensated windows. Best spare ribs in Glasgow.

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Monday, 1 March 2004 13:45 (twenty-two years ago)

If only RJG were here to make his terrific Mondo/Mono joke.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 1 March 2004 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

mono's lack of atmosphere is the selling point!

franz ferdinand were in there last night. and the main guy out of the libertines. and two of il casio immunitas.

hope yr sunday night went ok in the end.

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 1 March 2004 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

ponzé.

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 1 March 2004 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

my head throbs, too.

and my jaw.

to mondo, to mondo, it's only a d away.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 1 March 2004 14:04 (twenty-two years ago)

see I don't get the...

oh I do now. haha I even laughed when you told me it in chat, huh?

I ws gunna say I didn't get the 'd away' bit. but yeah now I do.

yeah, I know.

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 1 March 2004 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

it's only a d away.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 1 March 2004 14:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Anyone going to stereolab/to rococo rot at the QM tonight? you should.

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 1 March 2004 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

rococo rot?

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 1 March 2004 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

yes.

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 1 March 2004 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

to rococo rot are "internationally reknown pioneers of the new wave of intelligent German electronica" says the internet. and their name is an eleven letter palindrome. how bad could it be?

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 1 March 2004 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

About as bad as if my friend at school ever fulfilled his ambition of starting a band called 'Beat The Oven' (it's a Beethoven pun).

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 1 March 2004 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

beet th oven.

the new stereolab is very good. I'm gunna hear it soon.

I dunno about to rococo rot tho.

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd like to see TRR.

annie is going, tonight.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I've not heard new stereolab, the title is offputting. you should come tonight. who's annie?

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

you know annie! we watch alan partridge together.

I wish I could come, tonight, but I have lots to do, for tomorrow, and have not begun, yet.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I have broken my ankle. or it feels like it. I should go to a&e. :''(

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 1 March 2004 18:45 (twenty-two years ago)

eep. you should still come to stereolab.
what did you do?

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 1 March 2004 18:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I went over on it playing football. now it's the size of a stereolab. I am intense pain and have taken 4 (!!!) ibuprofen. I'm looking at the other 4 right now.

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 1 March 2004 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

: (

RJG (RJG), Monday, 1 March 2004 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

ouch. you should go to a&e. I did that once (not playing football) when I was about 13 and it hurt like hell but my Mum wouldn't take me to a&e cause she said "what are they going to do about it? it'll heal on its own". it did heal on his own, but I haven't forgiven her ever.

Right, I'm off to stereolab on my own then :(

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 1 March 2004 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

have fun!

RJG (RJG), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks, I will. you do work.

Cathy (Cathy), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:02 (twenty-two years ago)

oh. my. god.

haha I just realised 4 ibuprofen is actually quite a lot.

should I go for a bath to help the swelling / muscles?

still : (

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Ice would probably help with the swelling more than a bath would.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

but I'm running a bath!!!

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 1 March 2004 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

update: the bath ws no good actually but I'm quite relieved now cs I don't think I've broken my ankle. the swellings went down a bit and I still can't properly walk on it, it hurts top front and at the outside back but yeah I think I should be ok. god willing. still hurts to bits tho.

how were stereolab?

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:29 (twenty-two years ago)

glad your ankle is on the mend. stereolab were ace, and to rococo rot not bad at all either. a bit like appliance, only german. i ran into waterstone's andrew too, and he said he's having an exhibition of some of his paintings tonight at the 13th note. if you can walk by then, you should come. he said they look terrible though.

Cathy (Cathy), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 08:43 (twenty-two years ago)

haha aww.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 12:03 (twenty-two years ago)
