so my bday is this weekend and i had thought about going to london for a day or two then to glasgow for optimo then back to london for a day. i decided i was being frivolous and didn't book anything. now it turns out that i can get a cheap last minute flight and my saintly parents will pay for more than half of it as a gift. my saintly boss said i could take 3 days off. help! what should i do? i know the only answer is yes, but... i'll feel really guilty for bailing on work, i'll spend god knows how much on crap while i'm there, and there's the cost of london to glasgow & back to consider. shit. and i have to decide within an hour, basically.

come come come come come. I'm out of glasgow this weekend though, sadly.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

my problem is that i'm an indecisive wreck with no impulse control, and i'm completely capable of blowing a month's rent over a long weekend if on holiday.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

devil's advocate: don't do it because you will only make all of us stuck at work through March and April jealous and hate you.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 18:31 (twenty-two years ago)

DO IT.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

if you FAP in London you will get bought drinks, so that won't be expensive, and someone will put you up for a night or two (I volunteer my spacious flat, but you may well get a better offer or two!), so it doesn't have to cost very much.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

lauren are you drunk?

GO

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Just take £30 with you. You can mooch the rest.

dave225 (Dave225), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Happy Birthday, by the way.

dave225 (Dave225), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Go! It's only money!

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 08:59 (twenty-two years ago)

One day you won't be able to.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:01 (twenty-two years ago)

So Lauren, did you 'DO IT'?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:17 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, are you coming to play?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah. Will see how Ed is getting on with Mission Control in the back room, no hotel for you, young lady, and there are writeoff type meetings you could have while over. Sleep when you're dead etc.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:22 (twenty-two years ago)

thanks Suzy now I have that stupid Bon Jovi song in my head

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:40 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm not going. before everyone yells at me, let me explain a few things:
1) i'll be in london in early may, most likely, so taking a spontaneous trip like this seems excessive.
2) the money i'm being given for the ticket can pay the cable/dsl, utility, and landline bill for the month. boring, but necessary.
3) the idea that i could adhere to some sort of budget in london on a party weekend is laughable. even if i wasn't celebrating, the 30 quid that dave suggests taking would be gone in about an hour on earrings from top shop, a copy of heat, a bag of thorntons toffee, and a black cab back to my friend's place because i didn't feel like sitting on the tube.
but thanks to all of you for encouraging my profligacy, and i hope to see people next month!

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 15:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I have two spare tickets, for LCD soundsystem, in glasgow, on saturday.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that lauren's probably seen lcd soundsystem too many times to count? Hell, I've even seen 'em once, thanks to her. It was pretty fun.

hstencil, Wednesday, 31 March 2004 16:41 (twenty-two years ago)
