cozen (Cozen), Monday, 12 April 2004 21:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Do they still make Zezty Tomato?
If not, Cream of Chicken

seyxDancer, Monday, 12 April 2004 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

sexyDancer, Monday, 12 April 2004 21:36 (twenty-two years ago)

yep tomato

Emma williams (Emma williams), Monday, 12 April 2004 21:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to like the chicken soup, when I still ate birds.

The tomato soup is depressing. Very poor.

The broths aren't bad, I suppose.

But really, I don't think people should start grading tinned soups. Let there be some wonder in this life.

Threadkilla.

Patrick Kinghorn, Monday, 12 April 2004 22:06 (twenty-two years ago)

the heinz tomato soup is awful.

the oxtail soup is good.
as is the vegetable soup.
and beef broth is filling.

the mulligatawny is Okay.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 12 April 2004 22:28 (twenty-two years ago)

although, of course, campbell's alphabet vegetable soup is the best of all tinned soup in the world.

yet it's not availble in the uk due to some weird reason.

ken c (ken c), Monday, 12 April 2004 22:29 (twenty-two years ago)

carrot and coriander.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 12 April 2004 23:51 (twenty-two years ago)

mulligatwny i like
oxtail i like
scottish vegetable is good (though for a vegetable soup oddly contains beef)

heinz tomato soup is dreadful.

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Monday, 12 April 2004 23:54 (twenty-two years ago)

the tomato is pretty rank. several british-style cafes in new york sell it for $4 a bowl, which i find obscene.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 00:10 (twenty-two years ago)

GOd it doesnt even cost $2 a tin!

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 00:48 (twenty-two years ago)

heinz cream of tomato soup bad? you people are deranged, it's gorgeous, especially with a cheese sammidge made with white bread.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 07:37 (twenty-two years ago)

london grill

prima fassy (mwah), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 08:19 (twenty-two years ago)

campbells is the only proper cream of tomato (although i will agree with you on the cheese sammich front)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 08:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't do campbells, at all. They have this ..... glutinous quality which is all wrong for me

chris (chris), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 08:29 (twenty-two years ago)

no no, that's *the point*...

...of course you could just put a bit more milk in...

also, campbells cream of mushroom = instant mushroom sauce!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 08:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Steve, have you been reading the tins?

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

instant mushroom sauce that reminds me of being a student and making awful tuna casserole with crisps as the topping. yes

chris (chris), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

the tins COPIED ME!!!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 08:35 (twenty-two years ago)

So it's ALL YOUR FAULT then?

Ricardo (RickyT), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 08:35 (twenty-two years ago)

but it's nice...

...chicken and bacon and mushrooms and pepper and sweetcorn in mushroom sauce on a bed of fluffy rice, numnum

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 08:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not a fan of tinned noodle soups at all - ugh!

I like oxtail.

I like the taste of carrot and coriander, but I'm not too keen on the texture (too thick).

Carsmile appears to be one of those ppl with the uncanny knack of being able to put unlikely combinations of food together which actually taste nice.

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 08:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Campbells mushroom as sauce is v. good. My Nanna used to use the condensed chicken soup as a sauce for chicken breasts cooked in the oven. It's kind of comforting in a yicky way.

The only Heinz soup I've bought recently was a Weightwatchers one and it was BLEURGH bits of bean and carrot floating in orange water. Sainsbury's Be Good To Yourself spicy parsnip and Baxter's autumn vegetable are my favourites.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 08:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Cullen Skink!

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 08:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Waitrose do a chilled Cullen skink, it intrigues me.

My mum's Chicken casserole used to be made using heinz cream of vegetable soup iirc, and was delicious
