Anyone ever hear of a now-non-existent show called "Wonder Falls"?

A friend of mine told me about this show a month or so ago and got me all excited (I rarely watch TV except for The Simpsons and Gilmore Girls and Smallville, and even then I don't catch every episode. I also look for the latest Buffy re-run because I never followed it or gave a rat's ass about it when it was on the air, but now think it was weirdly wonderful).

Anyway I kept idly looking for Wonder Falls by turning on the TV to FOX and waiting for the promos, but their weren't any. Then I Googled it and found out FOX had cancelled it after airing four episodes (two of which were in a lousy Friday night time slot) even though 13 episodes had been filmed and were ready to go.

I was just talking to my friend about this tonight and she was all heart-broken about it and saying "TV is dead," etc. She's one of the smartest and most creative people I know -- and she watches TV less than I do -- so her reaction plus what I've read about the show itself (it sounded great) have made me depressed about missing a show I never even saw.

Anyone seen it? Should I be as depressed as I am?

But Wonder

From what I gathered it had something to do with talking lawn ornaments/novelty stuffed bears.

and probably no, you shouldn't.

It was supposed to have been moved to Thursdays, but even that seems bleak now. Some of it missed, but the first episode was quite good.

I don't understand why a network wouldn't show episodes it already has paid for. Toss them on at midnight to kill space if nothing else. They did it with Firefly, too.

There was a guy on AM radio around midnight the other night complaining that FOX had cancelled it. He mentioned some website: www.savewonderfalls.com maybe?

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 14 April 2004 03:11 (twenty-two years ago)

it was cancelled, there was a cnn article about it, of all things.

I saw a petition site: http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/wonderfalls

I never saw it, so it was mostly noteworthy for having an Andy Partridge-penned theme song.

it was the best show i'd seen since buffy ended. i'm pretty peeved about its cancellation, but i guess i should have expected it. they're petitioning fox to release the episodes on dvd, but i kind of doubt it will happen considering that only four episodes got aired and relatively few people saw it.

It was pretty good -- I didn't expect to last, since it was shown on Fox.

one year passes...
I just started watching this. It was so good! I am very sad to have missed out. The DVDs are available, but for those of you that don't want to buy it, LOGO is showing the episodes.

I think they showed them all on Sky One over here (UK), except I kept forgetting it was on. The few episodes I saw looked good.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 22 September 2005 21:23 (twenty years ago)

I seen it all and was mostly impressed. It had potential, pity it died. RIP Wonderfalls.

algorhythm (uzumaki), Friday, 23 September 2005 10:40 (twenty years ago)

They showed it before enterprise on sky one for about three weeks then they moved it to around about midnight on different days of the week. Which was very annoying as it was just getting interesting

I don't understand why a network wouldn't show episodes it already has paid for.

Heh, maybe the fact that they plan on selling the DVDs eventually is the reson they do this, except for two things: 1) I'm not sure they assume everything is going to go to DVD and 2) I'm not sure how many people are going to buy it just because of the new episodes, especially if it's being shown on TV somewhere.

five years pass...

Pretty good, I am 4 eps in. I wish there was more tv characters (or real life people) like the main character girl in this

this show is so awesome. Pushing Daisies made me a Bryan Fuller stan but Wonder Falls might be my favorite of his shows now.

This was the first 'random series' I picked out when I started w Netflix. I liked it to start with but it became a bit much and I lost interest.
