What are nice places to live in Australia apart from Melbourne & Sydney?

curious person, Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:47 (twenty-two years ago)

they are the only nice places in the whole of australia.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:47 (twenty-two years ago)

and there are serious question marks over sydney

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:48 (twenty-two years ago)

tamworth is very nice. lots of coffee shops.

mullywaster, Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh. Melbourne's too flat and Sydney's too expensive. What about Brisbane?

curious person, Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:49 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah thats where i live.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I've heard Brisbane's improved. True?

curious person, Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sorry curious person, what you're asking is a highly objective question. What do you define as "a nice place to live"?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:52 (twenty-two years ago)

improved in what sense?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:52 (twenty-two years ago)

brisvegas: too hot, not close enough to the coast, located in Queensland.

mullygasper, Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:52 (twenty-two years ago)

not close enough to the coast? Are you on drugs? It's ON the coast.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:53 (twenty-two years ago)

*shamefully admits to never having been there*

mullywaster, Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I quite like Perth.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I have heard that Perth is death but Margaret River is nice. Perth is certainly a fuck of a long way from anywhere.

My criteria for a nice place to live: not too expensive, cosmopolitan feel, city buzz, beaches nearby, nice climate, affordable accommodation, good restaurants/bars/nightlife, nice rural areas nearby for days weekends away.

curious person, Thursday, 15 April 2004 09:59 (twenty-two years ago)

hi

CAss (CAss), Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:00 (twenty-two years ago)

not sydney then.

isn't brissy on the river rather thatn the coast?

how about umina?

o, hi CAss.

mullygasper, Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Free-o!

mullygasper, Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

melbourne too flat? madness

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

im fascinated by sharks. has anyone seen one in real life?

CAss (CAss), Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

not too expensive, cosmopolitan feel, city buzz, beaches nearby, nice climate, affordable accommodation, good restaurants/bars/nightlife, nice rural areas nearby for days weekends away.

sounds like where i am, except it's kinda expensive..

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Brisbane is on the river but the sunshine coast is an hours drive north, the gold coast is an hours drive south and stradbroke island is an hour out to see, theres a semi-cosmo feel in the right suburbs, it's still quite cheap to live here compared to sydney and melbourne.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:03 (twenty-two years ago)

out to sea i mean...duh i must be tired.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:06 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygasper, Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)

i once found a shark egg in greece. i think it was a shark egg at least.

CAss (CAss), Thursday, 15 April 2004 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 16 April 2004 10:56 (twenty-two years ago)

hey! i was born in wodonga!!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 10:57 (twenty-two years ago)

i am getting drunk...NO XXXX!

hey Di yeeeeeas! who is miss moon? how was the gig?

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 16 April 2004 10:57 (twenty-two years ago)

in fact i spent my formative years there

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 10:57 (twenty-two years ago)

i spent a couple of formative weeks there, with my sister and brother-in-law :-). miss moon is a spoken word/multimedia artist type from sydney, and she came to us to entertain feminist queer style with pink zebra print mini-skirt and bra-top and a giant fake muff which she chopped off while standing on top of a television, ranting "hey there cunt face!"

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:00 (twenty-two years ago)

sounds pretty awesome. I've not heard of her before.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

now i feel boring that the best live experience i've had this year was loungey piano pop

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:02 (twenty-two years ago)

hey, it's all about the music maaaaaaannnn!

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:03 (twenty-two years ago)

o wait! is does ms moon do stuff about moths and stuff? kind of a people like us associate? i have a weird disc by her!!!

wodanga...great name. today we drove through wallabadar!

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:03 (twenty-two years ago)

wodonga mully, it's WO-DONG-A

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:04 (twenty-two years ago)

wo-dong-a

got it

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Miss Moon didn't say anything about moths tonight. she sometimes reminded me of miranda july. yeah she is "kind of a people like us associate", if i am interpreting that sentence correctly.

wodonga IS a cool name! and do you know whats even cooler? it has a street called warratah way! that my sister lived on!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:07 (twenty-two years ago)

hehehehe

sorry. my husband consistently calls it "whoa-donger" and it pisses me off.

ah di, i think i know what part of wondonga that's in. funny i haven't lived there sincei was 13 and yet the whole place is etched in my memory.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:08 (twenty-two years ago)

(xpost) okay i turn in now, another shutups gig tomorrow. goodnight you lovely aussie mongrels.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Hello antipodeans! Are we allowed to plug friends' bands who are coming to play for you? Go see Pipas! Clap and cheer and make them feel welcome! They are touring with the Lucksmiths at the beginning of May. Thank you.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

yay i heard today that pipas were on the way. i will be there for sure.

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

so you're taking me?

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:10 (twenty-two years ago)

hmm they're on apr 30th so yeah most likely!

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:12 (twenty-two years ago)

oh! nighty night ms lurex.

we do this thing with the kids where we say lets make u a story and one of us says like the first couple of sentences and then the next person continues the tale and after spending time with voni's relatives it has turned into scatology:

ME: there was a gorilla named sam and he was riding a motorbike throught the bush and came to a field and he stopped and...

BRYN: he did a HUGE poo and picked it up and threw it at a great big idiot and the idiot farted and...

DYLAN: he ate the poo and put the fart in a big bottle and drank it with a little bit of wee-wee...

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 16 April 2004 11:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Breathe in, Trayce...breathe out...breathe in... now imagine all your enemies arrayed before you. Imagine youself forgiving them. Imagine that your forgiveness is accepted. Now: kick in their heads.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 3 May 2004 01:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Heh. She was yeah. Reasonable maybe, bothering to get the vibe of the board and join in? Nah. Jumping into the middle of a well thought out thread like the fame one and saying crap like "wtf none of you are famous, losers" and "ok this is boring now" as soon as people actually got into discourse, thats just childish, like a 14year old complaining because she doesnt "get it".

Fine, dont get it - just dont expect US to bend it to make YOU more interested kiddo. Fuck off to LiveJournal. Raar!

Having said all that I'm enjoying dogging her round on threads and being a smartarse >:) Is that mean of me?

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 3 May 2004 01:59 (twenty-two years ago)

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 3 May 2004 03:33 (twenty-two years ago)
