A new 9 11 has been commissioned?

What was wrong with the old one, not evil enough?

The Commission was created by Act of Congress and signature of the President. It probably would not have happened without the agency of widows of people who died on September 11th. President Bush appointed Commission Chair Tom Kean and Democratic Congressional members appointed Vice Chair Lee Hamilton. I'm not sure who appointed the remaining members. The Commission's Executive Staff Director, Philip Zelikow, is a member of the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board (PFIAB) and formerly served under Condi Rice at the NSC during the Presidency of George H.W. Bush and later co-authored a book with Rice, who brought him to the White House to sit in on the Clinton administration's briefing of her during the transition period. 9/11 widows have called for his recusal.

While there are partisan ties on both sides, and the ex parte contacts between Republican commission members and the White House smell funny to me, I think that the commission has mostly done its job thus far.
